A libertarian canidate for 08 presidency!

    Bob Barr?
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/25/barr.election/

a sad, sad day for libertarians. George Bush would have been a better candidate, seriously.

    wtf

Maybe they think he has some qualities that are essential to U.S presidency,

    like shameless hypocrisy.

Who says I'm in Georgia? Not my profile. You're totally going to give it away that we know each other.

Yeah that guy is a fucking joke, I don't see how he even became a libertarian candidate in the first place. Well Nader and Gravel are the only real nominees you should care about in the libertarian party anyways.

Oh and those laughing about having a 3rd party in the election, shouldn't be. Shit needs to change, how do you think we got fucked with 3 generations of ignorance in the office in the first place? The 2 party system is archaic and broken as hell. I'm glad the libertarian party is atleast getting a little more interest and acknowledgement this election. More people are getting tired of the same ol' shit

I wouldn't expect much change from any parliamentary system.

Yeah gimme a call the first time you spot a 3rd party presidential candidate that actually sparked meaningful, lasting debate in the last 30 or so years. Anyone who runs for president is a whore. It's just a matter of picking the whore who does the least damage to the balance of the Supreme Court this time around. Other issues are ancillary and can be handled by Congress and Shit Happens, both largely outside the President's powers anyway.

Going from a 2-party to a multi-party system doesn't change what's fundamentally broken about political parties anyway. You'll always wind up compromising some beliefs to belong to one that can make any kind of difference. Welcome to government by comittee.

I'm just saying having a multi-party system is PART of a balanced presidency. Obviously congress is the biggest cancer in our govt. right now, that, more than likely, will not be addressed in a reasonable amount of time

I don't know about you, but Mike Gravel, and to some extent, Ron Paul have been breaking the ice in-terms of opening up the bag of shit to the American public every chance they get. While Obama is out parading change, there is some real talk going on from Gravel about corruption, incompetence, and uselessness of the congress right now. The NI4D act is a big step forward towards putting our govt in check(not a solution in itself obviously). Its better than sitting there and raising expectations that you can't count on, basically adding on more to the cynicism that people have towards politics.

hmm, well if entire system relies on electing people who have a resemblance of conscience, then it's more the congress that needs to be looked at, if you know where i'm heading with this, let me know. lol
