[FFXI] Are the update servers down?

Hi all, last week I decided to buy the FFXI Starter Pack. I installed PlayOnline and FFXI and stuff all up to the point where I guess I'm trying to update FFXI. I get the POL-1160 error.

Now I've noticed that this is a pretty common error, so I'll tell you guys what I've done so far:

    - Tried setting myself to the DMZ
    - Tried forwarding ports
    - Tried bashing the "retry" button over and over again
    - Turned on/off my software firewall

What I've noticed is that POL tries to connect to 61.195.57.130 or another server in that range, but is unable to get or send any data to it. So I tried pinging the IP which returns that the destination is unreachable. (Actually another IP reports this, which I thought was interesting, but that's not the point...) I've actually tried pinging the address from a couple other locations with no luck.

So do you guys think it's my end? Do the servers just not like being pinged? Or are the servers really down?

    Thanks for any replies.

plug directly into your modem (remove your router) and kill your software firewall... does it work?

the update servers are not down i just reinstalled and sat through the hella long 3hours or so to download everything only to have it install in <1min (gogo new pc)

ping wont work they have ping turned off

try tracert on the ip and see where you start to lose packets at... post the results here if you're unsure of whats going on with tracert

    Alright, I've got up to

    Code:
    23 161 ms 160 ms 160 ms 61.195.56.153
    24 163 ms 163 ms 166 ms 61.195.56.94
25 61.195.56.94 reports: Destination net unreachable.
The full output is here but I don't think it's all that relevant :p

Haven't done this yet. Moving PC = not that fun. I'll give it a shot though >_>

    Thanks
