How much would you pay for a limited edition FFXI PC?

Oh, I missed the part where the computer hardware inside the case was custom designed to play FFXI.

the d-bag was insinuating that, because my videocard cost over $500, that this guys PC is somehow a better deal than mine. even if FF11 was the only game I played, i could still build a better PC than the one in this thread for less money as well

my point that my videocard alone cost over 500 dollars (Brand new, they're cheaper now) was meant to discredit the value that the OP felt that PC had. the pretty decal sticker on the side doesn't add +600 or more dollars to the value of the PC

4 gigs of ram, amd dual core 5600, geforce 8600 GT (512mb on board), etc.

as I and others stated no one in their right mind would drop anywhere near that, unless they know nothing about PCs and want to buy it simply for the case, which isn't that good to begin with.

Not so much outdated as just not worth as much. A computer's ability to perform tasks don't degrade from age much, in most cases a quick format combined with proper maintenance and a computer will run as well as it did on the day you got it. The problem is that computer parts devalue immediately when you take it out of the box and by the time 6 months pass you'd be lucky to get 10% of the value you paid for it. Hence why the OP is getting flamed for wanting so much money. No one is disputing the computer will run fine or that the case is neat, but the components simply aren't worth any money anymore. You're basically asking 800 bucks for a fancy case.

I'm a collector, hell I bought an orange gamecube from japan just to keep out as a display model (still haven't opened it though, haven't got the display furniture yet!), but this case is generically lame, even for SE. I'm sure if they actually put effort into it they could have made it look really pretty and collector-edition-worthy (poke poke FF7 merchandisingrape).
