It would be pretty cool for PLD to get level 5 Iron Will

    * Adds a spell interruption down effect to Rampart

    * +19% per merit

with my magnetic earrings, my total Interruption down effect goes up to 103% lol
so I can cure IV myself while being hundred fisted, that is hot imo. I wonder if that works with Utsusemi: Ichi too.

...why do monks seriously want invigorate over penance? Penance is amazing and can mean the difference between wipe and surviving. Invigorate is regen 1.5. I really don't get it.

In any case, to those who say their acc is capped with sushi and don't want Diabolic Eye... well maybe you don't want to use sushi. Diabolic eye can help greatly with getting your acc to high enough levels to not need sushi. It's really going to be useful.

btw I don't see them adjusting t2 merits for the new cap (at least not much), a lot of the numbers always seemed like they were designed for 5 being the cap.

I love them both, penance primarily for salvage w/2 mnks its a huge help. Invigorate is extremely nice, especially for oh shit situations. I think my chakra gets me 414 hp back and the regen on top of it is quite nice.

I think the Kick stance is gonna be hilarious watching people riverdancing while fighting, but my guess is SE won't make it worth not punching at all.

Bard update is Meh... Im eitehr playing 2 ballads for a party of mages, or meriting, and if my mages aren't meling morons it's not hard to get them their songs and the mele's....

If the PLD boost is as good as it sounds, theyre teetering dangerously close to "Broken". I mean, when shield blocking everything, any moron can tank almost anything now right? Potentially having uniterupted blinking is crazy

Its quite useful when you don't have a healer around. I solo a lot and also play in ballista a lot, so it suits me best. A mob I'm solo'ing may have a nasty tp move, but it also may have a weak one or one absorbable by utsusemi. So with invig I'm guaranteed getting hp back, where as penance won't help every single time. Besides having it at lv 4 instead of 5 is going to be a mere 20 seconds, if rotated with another mnk who has it capped at lv 5, We'll still be able to keep it up full time.

That was half the argument. The other half is about HP reduction, and each person's unique playstyle. Personally, I have no acc issues, even WITHOUT sushi. In addition to that, I can either have 1113~ HP with DE on, or 1400~ with it off. Honestly, the amount of times I've lived with even 10 or 20 HP remaining makes me realize if I had DE on, I'd be dead.

In any case, capping Desperate Blows is the only incredibly useful thing for my DRK, so Snapshot on RNG and the two PUP enhancements are way more superior and will get done first. ;p

    How so?

It only really delays a mob's TP attack. Penance merely reduces TP gain by 25%. It doesn't nullify a TP attack; the mob still gains TP, just at a slower rate.

There's way too much enjoyment going on in this thread. Normally I have to come into this type of thread and yell at people not to cry until the update is here. I guess that I need to do the opposite this time- don't get your hopes up too high because of this announcement. They may decide to go 3 > 4 > 5 > 9 > 9 just to screw us over.

To rain all over your parades, every decent to good merit camp in Bahamut has already been taken for the last two weeks before this announcement was a glimmer, so good luck actually being able to merit anywhere after the update. (I can't wait to see 3 gimp-tastic parties fighting over each of the colibri camps, and being so exited because they got 5k XP per hour.)

Anyway, out of curiosity, what is so great about a three minute Bio III? The last that I heard, without /SCH the DoT from Bio III was the same that BLM could get from Bio II.

It is, pretty sure, but if you're say soloing or doing something without a BLM, it's very mp efficient damage. It's more damage than Bio II does(as rdm), not to mention more initial damage and that it's nice to know that it will last exactly 3 minutes every time.

Less times you have to die when soloing Genbu.

    Re: Battle Adjustments (05/28/2008)

If ya do the math a nekkid SCH with Light Arts active can only get 23.6 damage reduced from Phalanx 1.

A nekkid RDM with level 5 Phalanx 2 will have 26.24 damage reduced.

Yeah, it's not AoE, but lvl 5 Phalanx 2 will last 4 minutes now as well. Being -28 damage (the same as regular Phalanx) with 301 Enhancing Magic makes it better than NQ now for casting on yourself.

If I'm wrong by all means someone correct me.

Three minute Bio 3 is real nice, there's no doubt about that...but only for solo/lowman situations. Yeah with 225 Dark Magic skill it does the same DoT as a BLM's Bio 2 but it lasts longer. MP-saver, maybe?

I'll definitely consider re-meriting Bio 3 to at least level 3 after this update.

I'm inclined to agree with Jkun. You shouldn't need Sushi or Diabolic Eye for accuracy.

Having said that, Diabolic Eye would let you switch from Adaberk to Ares Cuirass with minimal change in accuracy whilst Diabolic Eye is up. It'd be a maximum change of what? 1 - 1.5% hit rate assuming you weren't past the cap whilst wearing an Adaberk?

    Re: Battle Adjustments (05/28/2008)

Haven't read anything but the OP.

@Paladins. If you can't tap your foot or keep a beat in your head, all HNMs, when debuffed, attack at pretty much a standard 4 beat pace, 1 2 3 swing 1 2 3 swing, if you can't keep track of that, quit FFXI.

And then on top of that, if you can't 1 2 3 click 1 2 3 ni COUNT TO MOTHER FUCKING 3, please, quit this game.

Dumbing it down so the fucking crappy JP shells who tank everything in +2 shield skill with 4 Aegis per shell (it's the only way they get things done) can get by with continuing to never change gear for ANYTHING is retarded.

Learning to count your own shadows and pre-cast ichi should be in the motherfucking Paladin Job Quest, this update is bullshit, and I for one am PISSED about seeing every 'Joe AdamanSabatons' walk around with capped, or near capped shield rate.

There should be penalties for sucking, or being retarded. Wiping to a mob thusfar has been that penalty, if you make Paladins into walking invincible machines you take away the learning curve. Is it nice I can probably now have capped shield rate against AV? No, I don't fucking care, I had capped shield proc-rate before this update.

SE needs to stop fucking reading off of alla's 'HOW DO I GET ICHI UP I DONT GET IT?!!?!?!?' boards and tend to some matters of importance, I seriously will never see the justification for this, you don't even need haste gear, marches and haste spell will pretty much cap you ffs, you can tank in 5/5 valor or 5/5 adaman with buffs and get the same god-damn effect as long as you precast.

    I'm pissed.

    Pissed.
