    Re: Battle Adjustments (05/28/2008)

I don't have Sange, I have 3/3 NTE, and 3/3 Raiton: San (but only 3/5 Effect...so far...finished Subtle Blow first).

The San spells can get up there in damage I guess, I mainly just use it as a spike hate/damage tool on slimes/flans in Nyzul, where it's usually still only 170-180 damage range (still, probably half a Jin or more on those mobs). Most other things the damage is resisted down a ton :/

I would have found a way to get excited about increasing the strength of the elemental debuff from the San level spells, because you can find a way to use that.
Would be a nice boost as well, to just make the elemental wheel progressively better per tier.

not if you do your meriting for NIN on BRD lol.
That, and how I see it is, I'm not usually tossing out anything but Utsu in merit, and Shihei are pretty cheap. NTE saves me on tools that are more costly, though admittedly, there's still a deficit to overcome.

I also see it as a possible assist for those times I might be running low on tools and not realize it. I don't usually run into the "u have no toolz, idiot" message, but there are occasions...

Parrying Mastery: Increases activation rate x% and gives x% TP for successful parries. <===lol who the fuck am I kidding, SE would give this to Samurai first.
Heh, perhaps they would. Still, as long as NIN got it too... XD

I'd prefer something other than TP on a parry. Stun perhaps, or removing delay until the next attack.

Could be done like the FFX ability "Evade & Counter" where when you parry you counter... and could be like retaliate where you get TP for doing it... maybe?

Always a lame complaint. If they want to join TP burns level a job useful for TP burns. Don't want to? Then deal with slower exp from manaburns or soloing.
the original LD argument was someone had BLM, SMN, NIN and MNK leveled and the only one he cares about are his MNK merits. if you have all those 4 jobs and play all of those 4 jobs, you're an idiot if you're meriting any tier 2 on BLM, SMN and NIN before Penance.
That's nice and all but it doesn't really have any relation to what I said.

For the sake of good taste, I wont further disrupt the thread.

Lecturing you has nothing to do with personal grudges, it is simply a means of eliminating undesirable behavior. My responce is only as relevant as you choose to see it, just as yours was only as direct as I chose to. The Phalanx of career BLMs all failed to provide evidence that would have quickly ended any dispute (except for two), but you were all too caught up in your Black Mageness that you'd rather talk down to someone you thought didn't have the right to question you.

There are no such things as stupid questions. Everyone has a right to question everyone else. That's the entire point of a forum, debate. You are above nothing unless you prove you are, aurik, and I have proven that by bringing you down to mud-slinging and a war of semantics. Also, I've proven how petty you are by angering you to the point where you made a retaliatory post after the core conversation has clearly ended while contributing absolutely nothing to it but insults and bluster. Frankly, I'm disappointed in you. You should have a clearer mind for these types of things. I hope you attempt to learn from this and wont writhe in fury trying to come up with a retort.

Oh, btw. I was always right. AM2s aren't as MP inefficient as you were claiming and the fact that you purposefully merit them proves they have a use, making the assertion that Penance is significantly more useful false (or at least highly subjective), which was the start of the argument. I was wrong about nothing, because I never said they were as MP-efficient as T4. What is there to about? It was fun pissing off a bunch of self-absorbed BLMs, though.

Have a nice day and I truly hope you understand all of this someday.

At that point you'd have Counter though. I was thinking more along the lines of not adding direct damage, but basically enhancing Parry to activate more often, and providing a bonus for it (I mean, PLD gets TP, no interrupts, and soon, damage reflection, along with enhanced proc rate).
As a tanking bonus, I think that Stun would be preferable to added damage. Or something like a 100% Slow for the next attack round. Something that'd help with shadows, enhancing that method of tanking compared to using a shield.

To those saying not to get 5/5 Shellra 5 with Aegis, won't you still gain MDB from the next 2 upgrades over 3?

    Shell doesn't add mdb.

And I think it's shortsighted to think "just because the PLD has max MDTA, I don't need more upgrades". Do you only ever do things where an aegis PLD is the only one taking magic damage?

    Re: Battle Adjustments (05/28/2008)

Friend of mine used Sange for ballista if people tried to run at low HP he'd use it for killshots, worked great cause he was always getting that gold ballistar shit or whatever it is.

That, and he used to like to buy up cheap zephyr's/arctic/etc and peg people in pvp with them, which still makes me laugh my ass off having seen someone actually stop mid battle and ask "what the fuck was that?"

Xavian's ranged attack hit's Soandso for 296 points of damage.
    Additional effect: 296 Damage.

I was more making a joke at how Sam would be more likely to get the useful tanking trait.

I'd love to get TP for parries, though I (suspect at least) that I have enhanced activation (still need to see if that's been tested) due to 2h weapons seeming to kick in more often.

Free Tp for canceling an attack would be unique at least, Monk's cancel/hit back, no TP, I hit back but take damage, and get Tp. Pld's reduce the damage and get TP. Nin's would basically get a +1 version of shield mastery.

Parrying Mastery would rock, now that I think about it. Prevents interrupts, high parrying skill, if it kicked in more, and gave free Tp you'd get free WSes and a big boost to tanking.

Not that BCC is particularly hard or anything, but I sure won't complain about it being easier.

I like this update for BST...except now my WAR is 66, so I guess BST will see even less use than it already does. COR...there are many possibilities. Lower Fold and Snake Eye sound good, and are probably what I'll do. Capping Phantom Roll recast and Winning Streak would be interesting, but then if you got a lame buff, you'd be able to fix it less often, and it would stay longer. Capping Loaded Deck would be interesting if you wanted to try the COR Army Super Quick Draw barrage thing, but we don't even have that many 75 CORs now.

BRD, I am kind of at a loss. I don't find myself really desperate for Nightengale/Troubadour outside of combining them with Soul Voice (we don't do anything that would need /BLM). Capped Dirge could be interesting at times. I have Dirge 1 Sirvente 3 now, but it's annoying that we don't know what Sirvente actually does. It may well have to do with CE when you get hit, because the place tanks have told me they really notice it working is Faust (yeah, yeah). I haven't been using it anywhere else besides the rare thing that we still kite.

I wouldn't mind seeing a NIN meritable that expended shadows for a stun effect- more shadows, better chance and duration on the stun- a "distratction" as a bunch of shadow-yous jump on the mob and *poof*. Physical stun, like Head Butt.

Being able to time a stun to re-establish shadows or snuff a nasty AoE in an emergency would be an awesome trick for a 75 NIN (yes, I know. /DRK, /BLUlol.).

Case & point, shit brick. Now it's not my fault.

I also notice you have nothing to add yet again. If you wanna bring this conversation down again, why not actually argue something or did you think I was somehow ashamed of this? What in my behavior would make you think I hide anything of myself? I am the most honest and direct person I know, but I don't ruin threads simply for the sake of my ego, you self absorbed twat. Now get off your high horse and show these nice people the OTHER PM I sent you.

You coward, you get me on something that minor? I got the idiom wrong, big fucking deal.

Owned? You may as well point out a typo, you supercilious twit. Also, you're still proving how you're a petty asshole whereas I am just a highly defensive and reactionary asshole.

You're not actually arguing because there is nothing left to argue about. You're wearing down the last nub of your bullshit stick just because you want achieve some odd concept of victory.

Off topic. Yahoo answers is hardly a valid tool for owning someone. Even Wikipedia has more credibility.

On topic. I think we can all agree that it's time for the lesser utilized defensive skills to shine. Hopefully parry first, then some tweaking of guard. Honestly, I would have prefered a change to guard than a kick stance for my monk :/

if this new monk ability works the way i think it will, it may have the side effect of boosting all hth WS while active. also i wonder if counters will become kicks as well. what about jumps? i imagine a double attacked kick will look hilarious.

It doesn't matter, I know he's right. I knew before I typed it, I just didn't care enough to correct it because the point is always more important, not some stupid fight.

It is my duty as a human being to instill logic into everyone, and misuse of the phrase doesn't mitigate that. The original phrase may have been corrupted by word of mouth, but the MEANING was not.

And let the record show I TRIED to allow this topic to heal (I saw it was getter better and chose to direct my words only at aurik), but if aurik has too large an ego to allow that, then someone has to break that down.

Not as awesome as hundred kicks would look! It'd be like watching riverdance on fast forward.
