The only way you can equip a grip as monk is if you're using a staff (Excluding event rare/ex items). So no, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to equip a grip.Originally Posted by Max™

Well, it's all speculation, but it would be an interesting twist if they basically made Mnk a 2h job while using it, though it would probably either require generally letting them equip grips, or you'd have it unequipped when the ability turned off so that would be quite unlikely.
To all who think 5/5 Desperate Blows is amazingomg and specifically the person who said DRK should get special songs for it: It still only lasts 30 seconds and with the 80% total cap, it might not be that amazing(lol w/o the cap we'd have over 100% haste.)
Capped Muted Soul means you might be able to souleater without stealing hate, something that just makes my jaw drop. -50 enmity is a shitton. I don't know if it's worth it though, it's kinda all or nothing. Also, I might refrain from using it because I do occasionally want to steal hate as DRK and it removes that potential.
Diabolic Eye turns into Aggressor, I might have to do this.
Dark Seal capped sadly just isn't going to be worth it
I'm thinking 4 Desperate Blows, 1 Dark Seal, 5 Diabolic Eye. The occasional dark seal is fun, but having Diabolic Eye up 3/5 of the time would be a major boon. DB is just plain fun as hell while it's up.
Enchainment for BLU might be very worth it now, 50% TP bonus on every chain affinity powered spell is very, very nice for our single hit spells.
New BRD ability is perfect and needed, new PLD spell is crazy and unneeded (though if it damages HNM then bloodtanking might be worth the extra curing), new MNK ability could be cool as hell.
Convergence's application seems the same
Diffusion will be 10 minute recast, still too long to be of consistent use
Assimilation is the same as ever; more or less a stat boost.
Too many sadfaces in this post for what is a very good update lols.

I am hoping the SCH merits (or merit 2) will have the haste spell. I'm thinking SCH will have something like,
Modus Veritas recast
Penury/Parsimony recast
Alacrity Celerity recast
etc etc. Boring ones.

Don't see how it would "require" them to be able to use a grip. You can't have a grip equipped along with hand-to-hand and if you used staff, you wouldn't be able to kick, since you can only kick with no weapon or using hand-to-hand. I'm not saying that they 100% will not let them use a grip, but at the same time, you really can't say it'll be required either.
Thank you SE for potential 2 minute feint recast.
Or 100% aura steal.
Or +15accuracy ambush.
With a 5/5, +15 acc ambush =D. If I eat hedgehog pie and I'm at, say, Mamool Ja, I'll parse around 82% acc. Add ~7.5% from the new ambush, and you're at about 90% acc with meat. If I were to add 2 Sniper+1's, I'd be riding the acc cap full time, in meat.I love the 2 minute feint timers but how the hell am i gonna out damage a sam(and possibly drk that gear up for the 25% haste bonus) on my thf after this after this?
My Brd's definitely gonna love some of this new shit. I like the utility the single target song adds. Say you have 3 sam in your party and one dual wielder, and its on a higher evasion mob. One could always madrigal the dual wielder and keep other songs on the 2-handers.
As for Thf, I think I might go 5/5 feint, 4/5 Ambush, 1/5 Aura Steal. 2 minute feints could be quite ridiculous. 2 thieves and you have basically capped acc 50% of the time. 4 thieves for full time. With pre-planning, you could trabadour bard swap 2x march, 2x minuet, and 2x minuet or minuet/mad and have fient duty for even non-zerg fights. And keep a Drg in the mix for angon ^_-
It'll be broken and people will be saying "kick burn onry" :3Man, I'm REALLY interested to know more about the Monk JA,
I have nothing to bitch about. Very nice additions.
you'd think with the implementation of more merit distribution possibilities that SE would increase the amount of merit points you can hold (while exping) to maybe like 20? Sometimes, I just like to have a lot of points sitting around lol
idk about you but I hardly ever use DE. Mainly because at 304 scythe skill I'm hardly missing, and for things like kings and boss fights, I'll use sushi mainly. Plus with the HP decrease, and in turn weaker WSs or hits in general when Souleater is up at max HP, -15% HP decrease is quite a chunk at 75 including HP merits. (I went with 4MP/4HP, lolelvaan)Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin
As for Muted Soul, I like using Souleater as a hate tool sometimes, and get a rush from taking damage then being able to recover with drains, spikes, etc etc, while at the same time, using those spells to also damage the mob. I'm not sure if I'll touch MS any further than -10 or -20 Enmity, putting it roughly at about 50%~? of a Provoke. (I think it's current cap is something like 72%, I forget).
I use kraken for zerging, but for 2 handed users who zerg, 30 mins on LR/Desperate Blow is enough time as it coincides with Blood Weapon, so for 2 handed zergers there's not a problem with recast.
I guess the increase in T2 merits will change depending on how you play the job, which means there will be more customisation of jobs and playstyles at 75, which is neat. ;o /captainobvious
Little confusion there, I meant if monk got grips, it would require them to be equippable even without the ability on, which would be cool for monks (find someone who will complain about free boosts from a new source) but it was just something my brain thought of because it's VERY likely that the kick stance will work off the 2h buff.Originally Posted by Cream Soda
Ninja's can tank, so falling behind from being one of the tip top DD's isn't such a bad thing, Thf have their own uses and advantages at certain spots. War's and Drk's can put on 2h weapons, Sam's are just coming all over themselves. Monk kind of got left out in the cold, one of the purest DD's in the game... would be very fitting for them to be able to take part in the 2her silliness with their A+ skill and gear.
Sick sick sick siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. I love you SE.
I can only QQ over how I wanna do my BLU merits now. :\
Holy fuck, an update that is actually exciting!!! THANK YOU...
=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
So nice being just a War sometimes, just gotta store up some merits since I have pressing reason to do so now. 5/5 WC, then a toss up with the Tom/Sav split, would feel like kind of a waste to do Tomahawk to 5, though 1:30 Duration is kind of tempting...
I need to find someone who's tested Savagery now, see if it affects: Others with my Warcry, me with their Warcry, and how much either do if they work.
BRD ability going to be nice, will make it easier to differentially buff tank/melee, and easier to target the RDM in a 2-person backline at low-numbers events when the party is roaming.

Dune boots add 30 dmg to kicks, and as to the staff factor negating kicks... would the JA transfer the bonus to the staff?
I'd think using just the Destroyers would still be your best bet with kickstance, getting the added crit hit+ is gonna make damage calculations fun if they use the 2 hander formulas for damage... But I always thought MNK should be allowed to use grips anyway, seeing that our knuckles are technically a 2 handed weapon that just happens to attack twice per round with retardedly low delay, but what grip would be best to use with kickstance? Double attack? Too many options :Q
But will this make Dragon Kick a non-suck WS? I doubt it, but it's gonna be fun to find out!

I do believe Kick Attacks only work under Hand-to-Hand, cockblocking any and all ideas of a staff/grip combo.
I'm aware of that, just thought it could be a possble use for staff MNKs!
