I called Wal-Mart yesterday, and was told that the $100 gift card for Blu-ray players did NOT extend to the MGS4 PS3 bundle.

As for the question of other PS3 games... I bought Uncharted... and I still don't have a PS3 yet.

Does anyone know if Wal-Mart is doing a midnight release? Anyone got a list?

The PS3 has had it's share of pretty decent titles that have managed to stay under the radar (to no surprise) due to the evaporating stigma around it. MGS4 should be pretty awesome, I was never a fan of the voice acting in 2 either, but the gameplay makes me forget about the 'lol' voices quickly. SOCOM: Confrontation Beta comes out in a few days, if you buy the first edition of 'PS3 Qore' or whatever on the PSN for $2.99 you can recieve an invite to download the Beta.

I've been playing a lot of Call of Duty 4 lately since I finally bought it a few weeks ago. I think the reason COD4 is so successful is that it's basically SOCOM 2 with next-gen graphics. I didn't think i would like COD4 but I picked it up after some nagging from friends and it actually is a lot like old SOCOM, Search & Destroy especially.

Anyway, back on topic I suppose. MGS4 should yield some amazing gameplay so I'm not worried about the voice acting on it. It's the stealth knife silenced gun box crawling that I love in MGS4.

Picked up my LE Guidebook yesterday, and from the 5% of it that i read (Controls + MGO sections) it looks damn nice. The guide apparently tries to keep spoilers to a minimum in the actual walkthrough section, and most of them are all in the back section called "Extras" which is covered with "SERIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD" warnings for those that haven't played through the game at least once. Either way, I am probably not going to crack open the Walkthrough or the Extras sections at all until after my first playthrough.

I was kind of excited to see the few other MGO Game Modes (and 2 other maps) that were not available in the Beta. One of them is Team Sneaking =) One entire team has Octocamo, and it is basically their jobs to try and steal the Kerotin / GA-KO while the other team tries to a) find them and b) kills them. Should be hectic and fun. I think there are a couple more modes that weren't in the beta.

No midnight release in my area but I'll be able to get it in a bit over 13 hours. A minor heads-up for those especially who missed out on the MGO beta, finish the story first. It is possible to mute people, but if chat text is still as big as it was in the beta you're going to stare point blank into a spoiler.

How's everyone going to play through the game? I'm going to kill as many people as I can first time through, second time I'll focus more on stealth.

because for some reason they think people actually want to show up at 10 to start getting ready and hyped up for the game. we changed it at my location to 11 just because it's retarded to be open 2 hours early, and they only gave us 2 payroll hours to cover the event. they open early though so that all the people coming in can get their games paid off and get out of there fast as soon as it hits midnight. i really think they're overshooting how many people are going to show up, as i'm only expecting like 20 to show up at mine, and a good bit will be trying to get the mgs4 ps3 system bundle.

If I buy the system in-store, can I hop online and get the extended warranty for it? The Wal Mart website says they don't sell the extended warranty in stores.

Also, gamestop and amazon.com yanked the bundle from their website...
