Thanks Tyche and good looking out about the headset.
Yeah, I just found out today, I went to a game store in my area, they told me it would be there at 5 PM today.Originally Posted by Wintermute
So my Sonystyle store at the Beverly Center said they are getting "more than a small handful, but not a ton" of MGS4 bundles. They open at 10 a.m., but they said you can get into the mall at like 5 or 6 a.m. (which I'm not sure if I believe - do they open malls way before stores open?) - not sure when I'm going to get there to camp, but he said he's gotten a bunch of calls for the bundle...
Wine club the night before so I'll be hungover, but I shouldn't have to work until 11 a.m....when should I get there? (I'm doing Sonystyle for the $100 off via their credit card).
malls open early most places so old people can walk around and janitors, etc can do their jobs. should be open.
Manual is in comic style just like the MGS2 Maunal, pretty nice.
MGO intro in comic form too.
Don't know how much is old info, and how much is from Metal Gear Online Beta, but interesting bits from the manual:
Tagged just in case.
[spoiler:1mibh30l]Controls are a tad different, might be changed from MGO Beta, but L1 is Aim and R1 is shewt, Triangle to swap into First Person when weapon drawn.
Square swaps Manual/Auto Aim.
R1 seems to have taken the Square button's old function, used for CQC too.
Face/Body/Vest Octo Camo activated with Triangle when in a crawl or up against a wall.
Threat Ring when crouched/lying
Can play dead with Triangle when lying down.
Radar is part of the Solid Eye: displays Objective direction, Camo % and enemy presence, there's a wind-direction arrow too (More MGO?), no old-school Radar-Map.
Nightvision/Binoculars on Solid Eye which is powered by battery
Otacon's little RC Bot seems to be controllable; Scout/Item Pickups/Electric Shock Attacs according to manual. Has to be equipped as item so likely a pickup along the way.
Can pat down enemies for items when you hold them up.
There's a Stress and Psyche gague.
Psyche seems to be a Stamina Gague much like in MGS3
Stress affects Psyche depletion.
"Combat High" which boosts Physche and reduces damage taken in combat.
Seems Drebin will unlock ID Lock Weapons and provide you with Weapon/Ammo store and Upgrades.
Seems taking out PMC soldiers builds local Militia affinity, and you can trade them stuff to build affinity/get items.[/spoiler:1mibh30l]
You need to update your PS3 to latest version before play though. 125MB download.
Back of Case says 4.6Gb Minimum.
Oh, and there's a Liquid Ocelot Screeny at the back of the Case that makes him look look like a really sinister House.
Lupus anyone?
btw I just came back from Wal-Mart and they don't have the bundles out yet, looks like they're sticking to the midnight thing. I did think it was pretty funny that they actually have space in the case open for them, even with all the people that had called about it >.>
How early are people going to stores for the bundle?
I'm guessing that even getting there at midnight will net you a PS3. I doubt they'll sell all 6 at midnight, but you never know.Originally Posted by Tyche
Do you happen to have a DS3 controller? I've been wondering if it's compatible with MGS4 (pretty sure it is, just double checking).Originally Posted by Wintermute

It is... The bundle comes with a D3 controller. They're really big on making a scene about it too, to promote the controller, you really didn't know? o_O
I uh... didn't understand the whole threat ring/DS3 controller shit going on?Originally Posted by Jotaru
Coulda, you know, read the posts, if you didn't understand.. both have been rehashed, heh.
No DS for me, getting one tomorrow.
Game is really nice so far, and the atmosphere is brilliant, really feels like a war zone.
Snake also seems to own an iPod, which you can use to replace the default music during play.
i want to know if the DS controller is used for any crucial in-game effects... i can't really afford one atm, but i'll wait and get it with the game if it's important to do so.
I kinda, um, didn't wanna read 14 pages just to look for what the controller/threat ring settings are all about.Originally Posted by Jotaru
Less douchebag please, it's to close to release for nit witted cunts and their remarkable comments. ;(
Well, think about what it's been used for in previous parts of the series; some of the detector tools you had in the older games used it, plus Psycho Mantis' gimmick.Originally Posted by wintersquall
Probably not vital to have it, I never used the specific tools that made use of it, but it's really amazing how much you miss the force feedback in some circumstances even just for the aesthetic sense of it.
I'd recommend getting one, playing with the sixaxis is nice and all, but the immersion a Dualshock offers, especially given the other MGS games and how big a fan Hideo is of it can't be understated.Originally Posted by Norellicus
Plus you have to admit, after all these years a controller without Rumble feature seems...cheap.
