Just finished it too, fucking epic indeed. IGN(US) gave it a perfect 10 as well, my my, perhaps GTA4 won't win GOTY after all (at least on IGN).

I ended up with Eagle rank, I also ended up unlocking Hawk, Frog, Inchworm, Hyena, Pig, Crocodile and Panther. I wonder if there's a reward for meeting the requirements to unlock all ranks.. Finished the game after a bit over 21 hours on Solid Normal.

the voice chat on MGO seems to be hard to setup or something cause its never picking up my voice, except very rarely it just randomly picks up something else i say.

I had 95 for Act 1. I would have had less...but damn once i tricked out my Sniper i couldn't resist >.>

This game is exactly what i hoped it would be, not a single issue so far that i have had and loving every second of it. I have the LE guide, and I keep checking out the walkthrough after i have completed an Act or a portion of the game and damn are there a lot of tiny little things you can miss. Mostly Kojima's little joke type things, but the amount of options are amazing.

I played a bit of MGO last night, just to see how it was compared to the Beta and it really feels the same so far. A few minor things like renaming some skills, and of course many more new people in the mix so i don't feel like i suck so bad yet =P

I really like this game so far (I'm on the second boss fight), but my only complaint is the controls. Hard to do CQC like mentioned, and also unless I'm missing something huge, I wish you could shoot stuff without having to go over-the-shoulder mode (i.e. able run and gun).

The cinematics are long, but I'll be damned if they aren't interesting. Loving how they've been tying up lots of loose ends.

Finally, the egg-cooking sequences are so fucking visually amazing. The graphics in general are insane, but the detail they put into dropping eggs into a frying pan is nuts.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

My little sister bought a lol40gig with her portion of my dad's stimulus check. I figure'd i'd buy MGS4 to see what all the fuss is about. I only got to play for like 30 or so minutes after work, then went back to NG2.

I still don't understand how you're supposed to play this game. Is it possible to clear acts undetected or am I supposed to be killing people along the way? I'm trying to sneak but I got caught by one random dude so I shot him. Then more would come and I'd have to shoot them too.

The game is pretty easy to look at though. They did a great job on the overall graphics. Everything is pretty colorful and sharp, with no lip-gloss textures like most next-gen games.

The main thing with CQC that i quickly learned in MGO Beta was to make sure that your Left Stick is not being pressed in a direction or you will throw instead of grab. Once you get that in your head CQC is easy. Just check out the many different things you can do once you have them grabbed in the Briefing menu and all of them are relatively easy to pull off. The Hold-Up + Search + Nut Grab is hilarious.

Play it how you want to. You will get more Drebin points at the end of an act for having less kills, and less alerts, but really it is up to you. Obviously if you are constantly in Alert Mode then there is going to be a near endless (sometimes) stream of enemies looking for you. Pick your battles =)

To 'turn on chat' in game just hold the select button down. You should then see the chat icon/notification pop up. If you want to turn it off, just hold it down until it goes away again.

You could also check the in game options in MGO for Voice Output, and whatever else there is there. Did you have the Warhawk headset Iz? Or are you using another one? The Jabra headset that i have from Warhawk worked great with the MGO Beta, i just didn't use it very often. I actually used the presets or the keyboard more often.

[spoiler:sna23y68]Agreed, the microwave part gave me goosebumps, I love the split screen idea. Also, last fight was fucking epic. I also like how they tied up the storyline, makes sense now. Fuck those reviewers who thought the storyline was a downpoint, also fuck the people who bitch about long cinematics.[/spoiler:sna23y68]
[spoiler:sna23y68]Fuck me the fight with Liquid and the Themes was brilliant.
Fucking went on forever and got better and better, even the end where they're both beat to a pulp and can barely stand.
Loved when you both landed a punch at the same time too.

Microwave and the Split-Screen was inspired, not to mention the tension of Snake slowing to a crawl whilst his suit pops in the heat.

The characters also tie up all the games together and it makes a plot/story so encompassing of all the games that even the most convoluted fan-made analysis could never have envisioned the plot. And that segment in the Graveyard was amazing,

Reviewers can suck cock.
Story was amazing and any MGS fan won't give two shits about the CS length; and even if they did they wouldn't complain because they're all fucking awesome.[/spoiler:sna23y68]

Hmm, my guess without being anywhere near the zipcode of my PS3... go into the Personal Data > Gameplay Options Menu in MGO and look for a place where you can tell it that you want to use a Bluetooth (instead of Standard Device) for Voice. You may have to turn that on for the 'hold select until Chat icon' to work.

Once you DO get that working i suggest you then look for the following settings also in Options:
Sound Settings > Voice Recognition Level : Set to at least 7
Device Output Level > Set that to the max level and see if that helps, then go from there turning it down if needed.

Sorry i can't be more precise, Iz, but i am at work at the moment =(

very fun things can happen in newgame +, you get emotion bullets (scream, laughter, fury and crying) and when you shoot them with a bullet they have specific effects. So far, I only know what the screaming and laughing bullets do. Screaming makes them cower in fear and drop their weapons, they'll also run away from you and they don't raise the alert status. Laughing makes them shoot at ANYTHING around them (if they can't see someone, they'll run off to find them), if they see you though they'll raise the alert status.

Crying makes them cry in a corner, haven't see it do anything else, but at least they don't notice you. Fury makes them stand on the spot and do...something. I dunno what this does yet.

Laughing bullets are awesome though.

Oh, and the Spaghetti Western MGS theme at the Rank screen is awesome.

I just have to say that, the MGS series was probably one of the most brilliantly told stories ever. The way they ended the series could not have been done any better. This game is truly a masterpiece, a genius work. Anyone who doesn't play it is completely missing out on how incredible the experience is. It was really unlike anything else that I've ever played before and theres going to be nothing that compares to it for a very long time. Everything was just so beautifully done and the gameplay was fantastic.

The first few zones I found were actrually the hardest ones. You can choose how you want to progress in the game, whether it be by stealth or through slaughterhouse. What I try to always do is find the path of least resistance and then just shoot anyone in my path. The Sniper Rifle and the M4 custom make this game much much easier, in conjunction with the Snake Eye you will be able to see which direction to go.

As for clearing acts undetected... its difficult but defintely do-able. Chances are you will be better off just shooting people in your way when their back is turned or just choking them out. A really great trick early on is to use CQC with your stun knife (you can find exact controls in the manual). Its difficult early on, but after you meet Drebin it becomes much much easier- at least it did for me.

In act one I got 516 kills- 475 headshots. What can i say, I love my Sniper Rifle. (The artillery and Javelin is also prety handy )

Jesus...that many kills in act 1? that's more than I had the whole game.

As for an undetected game, I'm going to give it a shot along with a no-kill game.

Both seem like they're going to be hard though.

Heh... so i ordered it via gamestop.com and this morning I call them to ask about the tracking number that still only says "billing information received"... they say it might still be in their warehouse. >.> So after yelling at them for a bit, I asked for a refund and drove over to Fry's where they had 53879537 copies waiting.

Last time I bother with online shit... or with reserving, period. I'll just go to Fry's. Apparently no one knows they carry games, otherwise I can't explain how they always have so many copies of the latest releases in stock.

Yeah, Drebin sells them. I'm guessing Emotion Magazine does the same thing the emotion bullets do, but maybe invokes a random emotion.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

[spoiler:3jhuwj40]Words cannot describe how epic Act 3, 4 and 5 were. Mainly the end of Act 3 and beyond was just insanely insane.

Returning to Shadow Moses when the song started playing when you first entered the helipad gave me chills.

The fight with Vamp was cool, then Raiden fighting Vamp atop Rex was awesome...Too bad I didn't get to see most of it because you have to kill the stupid gekko's during it.

The battle between Ray and Rex was something I wanted to witness for a long time.

Then just like...all of Act 5. The microwave hallway was just so brilliantly done. You really do get the sense that YOU are Snake and you HAVE to keep going.

The final battle and all CS's involved with it were beyond epic. I had goose bumps the whole time and my heart was racing.

I thought MGS3 was good, but MGS4 has the best story out of any video game I've ever played. No game has evoked my emotions like that ever. During each Mission Briefing I literally felt a sense of hopelessness. You had everything go wrong for you, you are getting old, you keep getting banged up, you can't even smoke without coughing up a lung, your face is burnt, you keep losing allies and you keep getting betrayed. But through all of that, you are loyal to the mission and I think the microwave hall really summed up Snakes dedication and will power.

Ending did a nice job of summing up not just the game, but the whole series. It is extremely rare to find an ending like that.

10/10 easily[/spoiler:3jhuwj40]
