You get DP for shooting down unmanned machines, Gekkos, Scarabs etc. DP is also gained by picking up any spare weapons from dead people.

Izembo, if you don't see the left/right selection arrows next to the device outputs in the Voice Chat Menu, turn your headset off, then back on. That is all i had to do, then i could select "USB/Bluetooth device"
Apparently since i had my headset on before i booted up MGO, it didn't realize it was there... off then on and fixed. Hope that helps.
I just beat the game, and to be honest I was completly dumb fucking lost. I only started with MGS2 and read cliff notes on MG/2 and MGS1 so once I play those it may make a little more sense.
As for the game itself, I thought it was great until around act 5. For whatever reason I just started getting tired of it. I guess if I understood the background to Big boss/Snake, Foxdie, and Shadow Moses it would make alot more sense. Should I just get the original MGS1 or try to find Twin Snakes for GCB? I know TS is the remake, but is there any real difference to them besides Graphics?
[spoiler:2g3t6s2x]As for Mantis, I remember my friend playing Twin Snakes for GCB and her saying something like that and watching the controler move right accross the floor. That fight and Vamps made me have to be on my toes trying to find out just how to kill them. The zone where you first landed on Haven ship was pretty intense too. I had a hell of a time making it to the door without getting my ass shot to near death.[/spoiler:2g3t6s2x]
Just beat MGS4. Just gotta chyme in that this thing has a fucking EPIC ending. Truly went out with a bang ;3
go buy the essential collection and play them in order... 1-2-3... after that play 4, it'll make a lot more sense.Originally Posted by sephir
Act 5 and I'm stuck.
[spoiler:n7uch898]How in the hell do you get into the GW room at the beginning?
I've tried sneaking and I can't figure out any route that works, I get discovered every time. After that, it's just infinite waves of enemies. No matter how many soldiers/gekkos I take out, that last room is flooded. I can't even grab onto the door because I'm getting shot by about 10 soldiers during the moments I'm not getting slammed into the walls by 2 or 3 gekkos. So uh, what am I doing wrong here? Is there any end to the enemies? Is sneaking the only way?[/spoiler:n7uch898]
rail cannon for the gekkos, p90 for everything else and just unload clip after clip. thats what i did for a good 10-15mins maybe, and i was finally able to enter.Originally Posted by Moridam
The first part of Act 5 is indeed a hellhole. You literally have to gun down everything in your way. I used the automatic shotgun and M4 for the bitches and a fully charged Railgun for the Gekko. There is a place to the right of the door that leads to GW you can hide from the Gekko while you kill all the bitches. After all bitches are dead, peak around the corner with the Railgun and nail the 2 Gekko. Gotta be quick because they keep coming, but after you kill the 2 Gekko, you have enough time to open the door before a new wave of Gekko come and fuck your day.
And I feel sorry for people that haven't played 1-3 and started on 4. You have a snowballs chance in hell of understanding the story. Each game plays a relatively large part in this one...I don't know why you wouldn't have played the other games anyway...Some of the best games of all time![]()
The beginning of Act 5 isn't too bad after you get the hang of it...took me 5 continues D;
Anyways what I did was...
[spoiler:34hortjd]When I first start off I tranqed all the frogs in the middle(There's like 4 or 5 of them I think?). Then hit up the 2 Frogs on the left side of where you start...then go up the left side slowly, as 2 Frogs will jump out of nowhere, just tranq both of those at a distance and you should be fine...as you near the rear of the ship, 2 more frogs will surprise you. Just stick to the walls and tranq them at a distance, at this point u get to the 2 Gekkou, just take them out with the rail gun.[/spoiler:34hortjd]
EDIT: BTW, anyone else notice the Password option that comes up at the Extras screen after beating the game? Wonder what that is for ;x
After two continues at that section I just raged and railgunned the shit out of everyone and everything. Attempting Big Boss rank is going to be one big fucking pain in the ass.
Completed it lastnight, well worth the money and the cut-scenes were just like watching a movie.
[spoiler:ek9j6qzs]omg @ Big Boss, and I see no option to rewatch all the cut-scenes? Was looking forward to that option D:[/spoiler:ek9j6qzs]
Same, was up until about 6 AM. I have about 30 saves so I can rewatch the cutscenes but I'm hoping there is a way to unlock a viewer.Originally Posted by Reapz
I can safely say that MGS4 is the best game I've ever played. I can't believe I'm saying this but it even trumps FFVI and Chrono Trigger.
I beat ACT3 last night... so sad yet so AWESOME. <3
Anyone got any of the Dolls from Bosses?
[spoiler:1vbi4xfl]I hear you need to Traq Kill both forms to get them but for the life of me I can't seem to find Lauging BeEauty's
Or do I need to pick it up diring the second part of the fight?
EDIT: nvm, re-did fight and got the Doll whilst doing the second part of the fight.[/spoiler:1vbi4xfl]
About Act 4's boss...
[spoiler:13tqdta6]wtf is this shit? i killed like 20 soldiers already, and she just seems to come at me randomly, knocks me down, and runs away. I tried using a grenade launcher when she gets close but I can't really see her until she's in my face knocking me down... how do you take this bitch down?[/spoiler:13tqdta6]
edit: [spoiler:13tqdta6]Nevermind, I got bored and decided to become the huner.. followed the footprints and started sniping at her when I found her sitting around waiting for me. 3-4 hits to the head every time, she was down pretty quickly.[/spoiler:13tqdta6]
[spoiler:ghknlv28]It's pretty much just like Sniper wolfs fight in MGS1. She'll randomly pick a place to snipe from so put on your NV and you can see the top half of her body protruding from her beast. You can either A. try and shoot at her with a normal gun or B. Snipe her from a prone position. Make sure she doesn't see you or she runs to a new spot.[/spoiler:ghknlv28]Originally Posted by Exoduso

Also, where's the movie viewer?! I wanna watch some of the cutscenes, but I suppose I'll just have to make a save file for act 3 onwards. Also, anyone know a good way to farm DP? I wanna buy stealth camo 8)[/spoiler:3cu1ikrp]
[spoiler:1f7pjb6e]You get a shitload of DPs in Act4 if you let the audio flashbacks end.[/spoiler:1f7pjb6e]
[spoiler:2105q7s6]You can farm them in areas where a constant Alert means a neverending swarm too, P90s aren't bad DP.Originally Posted by Exoduso
You can also do the same thing in a place where the Milita pop out and get raped by PMC, jsut run around collecting their weapons.
Maybe the Raging Raven fight taking down the gliders? Not sure how much DP they give.
No "wtf awesome" areas come to mind though, especially if you're farming for the Stealth.
And FUCK at trying for a no-alert game.
Fucking Snipers, Spotters, and PMC always detect you at just the wrong time.
I snuck past what was practically a division using the Snake Eye and the map and then I get spotted by some random picking his nose in some butt-crack of the map...
Going for a no-kill game at the mo since I fucked up the no-alert on Act 1.
And how the fuck do you use the Mantis/Sorrow dolls? I can never get them to work.[/spoiler:2105q7s6]
For the beginning area of act 5 I just killed 2 guards and ran it. That was it. If you are fast enough getting to the door, and stealth enough about it you won't sound the alarm and you won't have the Gekko's drop in on you. It took me about 3 tries to find the right route, but when I did I was in and out within 45 seconds without even setting off the alarm (only got to caution).
[spoiler:30r53ol4]but ya, I understood everything until right at the very end with big Boss talking, at that point I got confused as fuck. As for how great it is... well, I thought it was amazing but it just didn't *right* to me. It felt more like call of Duty than MGS. I certianly enjoyed the game, but I just didn't like it as much as I did 3.[/spoiler:30r53ol4]
