yeah I definitely missed the camera too.

just finished a couple hours ago, great game. I like how they tied it all up. Glad too that the series is finished, although a Johnny + Meryl game would probably be pretty sweet (if different in tone/gameplay).

Am I the only one who thinks Meryl fell for Johnny because of his SRIKING RESEMBLENCE to Snake? Also, the wedding was the only part I disliked about the ending, but they tied it up pretty nicely with the Colonel.

BTW, why can't I remember the reason why Meryl is so angry at the Colonel? I mean I get the story, that he is her real father and not the uncle (as she first thought?) but why the hatred? I'm drawing a blank and I played MGS1 like 2 months ago..

Maybe the fact he lied to her all of her life?
We don't find out whether she knows if he was pulling all the strings behind her positions in the Military either, may factor in.

Doubt most people would be happy to hear their Uncle is their Dad, and Meryl is the hot-headed type.

    And Johnny? Looking like Snake?
    Why...whatever do you mean?

I'm still surprised she wasn't that phased when he shat his pants.

She hates Campbell because of his relationship with Rosemary, viewing it as though he swooped in on a distressed woman the same age as his daughter and took advantage of her grief, and was apparently more concerned with finding himself a new wife then patching up his relationship with his daughter.

I just juked the drone. Can trick it into doing the sweep kick, then ran past/rolled before it could move to its next attack.

Just making sure I didn't miss anything, because she seemed pretty upset and talked about it as if she had already found out in a previous game.

Yeah, it would suck to find out your uncle is your dad lol.

Re: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots *contains spoilers*

I think we've gotten up to the point where endless spoiler tagging is no longer necessary, but because I don't want to disappoint all of my followers I'll use them anyway.

[spoiler:1rdyfiic]First off, I would like to say that this was an incredibly good game and I would give it a 10/10. The story was magnificent and it really tied up all the characters of all the games into one nice little bundle that's a little hard to understand, but not too hard.

However, I was disappointed with the end sequence of the game. The last "fun" boss fight you have is against Screaming Mantis. After that your only real enemy are those stupid little Gekko. The fist fight with Ocelot was epic, but if you think back to all the other Metal Gear games, there is always a sequence of fights leading to that last big fight. In MGS1 you have (Rex > Liquid atop of Rex > Car chase), in MGS2 you have (Multiple RAYs > Sword fight with Solidus), MGS3 is the best IMO because you go (Volgin > Awesome motorcycle chase > Shagohod > Volgin on Shagohod > The Boss). The fist fight was epic but I was expecting the ending to be a lot more hands-on.

When you find out that FOX from MGS3 are the Patriots that was pretty epic. Who would have known that when you were in the jail cell in MGS1, the body that was in there with you was the body of one of the Patriots.

When and why does Grey Fox kill Para-Medic?

When Outer Haven is rising out of the water for the first time, you see something a lot like Mt. Rushmore on it. I couldn't tell whose faces those were expect I thought I saw Big Boss. Who were the other faces?

On Shadow Moses, how exactly do you sneak past the rooms filled with those annoying ass little Gekko? They are so freaking hard to sneak past unless someone has figured out an easy and simple way to do so.

How does Raiden end up teaming up and working with EVA? My memory of MGS2 is a bit shabby but why does he end up going in to "exile" and why does he basically become another Grey Fox?

I'm trying to figure out the significance of Vamp other than him being a really bad ass henchman. I don't recall him aspiring to reach large goals like Ocelot, Liquid, Snake, Eva, Big Boss etc. I've always wondered what his actual purpose was.

I beat the game last night but I'm not going to play it again until I've played all the other games in order, starting with MGS3. I have more questions that I will ask when I remember them.[/spoiler:1rdyfiic]

[spoiler:f1ilylhr]Grey Fox kills Para-Medic because of the torture she basically put him through. I'm not sure when he killed her but I do believe it was after Zanzibarland but before Shadow Moses EDIT: Checked MGS wiki and it says that Dr.Clark died in 2003 so 2 years before Shadow Moses

They have patterns and it's just a game of figuring them out. They aren't actually that hard to get by if you take your time.

Raiden went into "exile" after Rosemary told him they lost their baby due to a miscarriage.[/spoiler:f1ilylhr]

Mini Gekkos (and by extension the larger gekkos) have a very limited sight range. Since you can see where they're looking with the Solid Eye on, you can get a feel for their patterns. It's worth noting that they have really bad hearing (if any at all), so you can pretty much run full bore past them as long as they don't see you.

I think I missed specifically why Raiden was first working with EVA, or how he supposedly was so gravely injured that he needed the to go thru the whole process of becoming a cyborg. Raiden was pretty well redeemed from his bare ass cartwheels in 2, so maybe we'll see a fill in Metal Gear game to explain where/what Raiden was up to the 5 years between Big Shell and Guns of the Patriots.

Prior to Shadow Moses obviously. They just referred to her as Dr. Clark though, and they never specified a gender. I wonder if Kojima knew he was going to use the MGS3 cast as the Patriots in the first place.

When Outer Haven is rising out of the water for the first time, you see something a lot like Mt. Rushmore on it. I couldn't tell whose faces those were expect I thought I saw Big Boss. Who were the other faces?
Pretty sure it's the original members of the Patriots, so Para-Medic, Sigint, Big Boss, and Zero?

On Shadow Moses, how exactly do you sneak past the rooms filled with those annoying ass little Gekko? They are so freaking hard to sneak past unless someone has figured out an easy and simple way to do so.
    Chaff grenades?

I think he found her while searching for Sunny. And once he rescued Sunny (with the help of EVA maybe?) he helped her find Big Boss's location.

Other than the fact that he was a part of that group in MGS2, I don't think he had any special purpose. Liquid Ocelot took him along because he was a good addition to his team I guess, since he was immortal at the time.

I still think 1 and 2 should be played before 3, at least it made more sense to me when I played them in that order.

For any of you that didn't know, you can always go back and get the items from the Mission Briefings. Just make sure you have an up to date recent save, and then exit to the main menu. From there just choose Mission Briefings, and then choose your latest save.

Any Mission Briefings you have seen so far will be available, and if you then get any missed items in them you will be asked if you want to overwrite the save file you used to view them. That is what i had to do to get a Battery i missed (you can get 6 total i believe, after my second playthrough and the first couple briefings they weren't there any more) and the Campbell face camo from Mission Briefing one.

So there is really no reason not to save and then go back and get any items you missed in them without waiting for another playthrough.

    Fixed (gameplay-wise, it totally is.)

How fast does the playthrough have to be, btw?
