This little follow up isn't the review I was referring to, that should have been obvious.

Raiden being patched up at the end didn't bother me. If you're a freakin' cyborg, you can be rebuilt assuming the proper organic parts remain intact. Though, not even that is a factor if you consider the whole Vamp angle with nanomachines. Meanwhile, the lightning thing just strikes me more as a play on his name and the blurb Snake said about him being a flash in that stormy night he was born. If you're already cybernetic, surging excess power through broken connections doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.
I dunno, Yahtzee was interesting when I first heard of him, but now he's just kind of tired. One-trick pony, if you will.
It's really just thinking way too hard. During that scene I wasn't sitting there pondering why he was able to basically shoot lightning at people, I was more concerned with "God, this scene is fucking awesome."
I dunno. Naomii essentially killing herself wasn't a happy ending in my eyes. She should've stayed around and been the mother figure to Sunny imo. After so long (MG1>MGS4) everyone kinda deserved a happy ending after going through so much shit.
Put a metal twist-tie from a loaf of bread in the microwave. That's what i took from that. He walks in with his sword drawn, basically a lightning rod. The room he was fighting in had some microwaves in it i believe. It's really just thinking way too hard. They were outside the microwave room during that fight.Originally Posted by Guitarman

I just don't understand why Yahtzee, a man who has professed his decided pleasure with such things as guns that shoot shurikens and lightning, can't just sit back and say "yeah...awesome" when Raiden starts shooting lightning.
Maybe Raiden needed more shurikens.
People expect him to say funny/bad things about every game he reviews. And since MGS4 is damn near perfect, he decided to make fun of Raiden and the long storytelling. Yes, the chat with EVA in Act3 took forever (and she virtually said the same thing over and over again), but I liked it.Originally Posted by archibaldcrane
Why is it so weird that Raiden can create lightning? Considering all the things I've seen in MGS, causing lightning to strike is hardly the strangest thing.
That's what I was going to say. Compared to most bosses, creating lightning with a cyborg suit doesn't seem that bad...especially when you compare it to Volgin. MGS was never meant to have realistic characters, and people who didnt figure that after 4 games are stupid.Originally Posted by Elcura
I dont remember if I bitched about this here, but what's up with the frog in chapter 5 during Meryl/Johny's scene? The scene would have been great if they didnt act like zombies.
Uh..what?Originally Posted by Kaylia
Think he means that frog people have the ability to jump and dodge but they showed none of those in that scene. The scene with Raiden was fine because all of them apparently decided beforehand to use knives but the scene with Johnny and Merryl were with guns and the frog people were having trouble climbing up the stairs and finally when Johnny and Merryl ran out of ammo the frog people decided to close in for a execution style of death instead of just killing them outright.
Like someone else said in the thread that scene was a copy of the worst scene ever in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Elcura, to get the tornado effect from the matchlock gun, I think you need to fire it downwind. The info on the weapon screen says that the tornado comes when the gun is fired from a certain place. Can't be bothered at the moment to test it, as my current save is in the middle of a game trying not to cause any alerts, lol, but as I recall that's how you manage the tornado effect. Kinda makes you wish you could use the wind waker from Zelda somehow.
Ohhh, that's interesting. I'm so trying that out next time.Originally Posted by JasoNintendo

But even when you look back at the whole fight, they killed at least 50 of them if not more, rarely taking cover or anything. They arent super soldier and they are suposed to fight the strongest unit. It's hard to accept they were able to win so easily while taking little dmg.
No offense, but why do people have to nitpick at the smallest shit that seems unrealistic in this game? Last I checked flying cyborg ninjas, immortal vampires, ships the size of Mexico and giant two legged robots that like to kick shit never existed.Originally Posted by Kaylia
I can, and will nitpick human's reaction in a story when they don't look appropriate. Walking into a guy who shot 50 of your friends is not. There is nothing wrong with cyborg, giant robot and immortal vampire in the context, but if there is no explanation for people walking to their death, I'm going to say it look crazy
If you tell me their reaction was slow because of their nanomachine, fine...but I didnt see anything like that.
Maybe they were just awestruck by how retarded Johnny and Merryl was acting and wanted a closer look to see if this shit was for real.
Hello, it's a video game. As far as I'm concerned, video games don't need to be "appropriate" to be enjoyed, and taking it beyond the simple fact that it is a video game isn't enjoying it.Originally Posted by Kaylia
And if you played the game, you'd know by now that Akiba didn't have nanomachines![]()
I'm with Kaylia, they were essentially running to their deaths, but the scene wasn't very serious anyway.
And Kaylia wasn't talking about Akiba, but don't let that stop you from using pretentious face when you absolutely misunderstood what someone said.
If you would have read my post, you would know I'm talking about the zombie frogs, not Johny.Originally Posted by elison
It doesnt matter if Johny has nanomachine or not.
And why people always pull the "its a video game argument". It doesn't make the frogs any less retarded in that scene.
Please, feel free to beat my balls black and blue as I lay them upon a golden platter for you because I misunderstood something; because not everyone does that.Originally Posted by Kuya
My final opinion, stop trying to stress how a game is unrealistic when everyone knows it is and try to enjoy it. The MGS series has never been realistic when it comes to the story. It just seems like your beating a dead horse when it's been mentioned 30 other times in this thread how retarded that specific scene is.
