Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots *contains spoilers*

So many things about this ending is unrealistic and OUT THERE, that i'm really not surprised they did it.

Is it strange? Sure. The FROGS have been bouncing around everywhere for the entire length of the game, it's weird that they're just running up to them like normal soldiers. But who cares? That scene was meant to prove a point more than anything else, there's no way Meryl and Akiba could've taken down so many enemies under normal circumstances. Let's pretend it was "combat high".

Raiden suddenly possessing Thundaga and Snake surviving a human microwave is way more awkward than Akiba/Meryl killing some FROGS.

It was bad. Complete ripoff of pirates of the carribean where whats his fuckin name and lady yum yum get married while fighting all the pirates. I hated having a love story so prominent in the series at all; but there it is. Didn't stop me from enjoying the game tho.

The wedding was the worst part about that (almost 90min if you count everything that happens from the second Mantis dies lol) ending.
I also didn't like the fact that Raiden, Ed, and Jonathan survived even though they made it look like they all died.

And what's up with Akiba/Meryl getting shot like 10 times each during that scene and somehow surviving without a scratch?

My final opinion, stop trying to stress how a game is unrealistic when everyone knows it is and try to enjoy it. The MGS series has never been realistic when it comes to the story. It just seems like your beating a dead horse when it's been mentioned 30 other times in this thread how retarded that specific scene is.

I'm not complaining about the realism here, I'm complaining that this scene was hardly believable when you take in consideration what we know about the Metal gears universe. A story can make abstraction of physics, it can add in some magic or pseudoscience, but it can't go against common sense, it can't go against what was established either. We know johny's and Meryl's strength, we know how well Frog performs normally, we know how accurate the game is with battle tactic.

Out of every scenes in MGS4, this is probably the only one that struck me as "out of place", and I know I'm not the only one in this situation. Does it make the game any less good? Maybe if you're really nitpick about story, but it's still a masterpiece.

Generally I agree with you, actually I fully agree with you about this scene. It was stupid and cheesy and there just to show Meryl and Akiba's relationship grow. There wasn't any specific reason why the Frogs should have stopped bouncing around. Only thing I could think off is that they seriously underestimated Meryl + Akiba (like 50 times) or that they didn't have much space to jump around.

I know what you're thinking, "that area was fucking huge!" well, yeah... it was. But looking at the terrain there were only a few places they could've gone. Any place they were to dodge would have put them pretty far off from getting to M+A.

Still, the best part of that scene was when Meryl was alone, reloading 1 gun while shooting the other. That was cool.

If they wanted to get closer, they could have dropped from the ceiling midway (the ceilling was much higher in the middle of the room) or walked from either side (like they did when both left the room toward the end), not from the bottom of the huge room. Seeing 2-3 guard get shot down like this is fine...but 50?

Like you said, that scene still had some cool looking choregraphy. It wasn't bad to the point I wanted to toss my controller at the TV, but it could have been much better in overall. I'm complaining about it because they missed an opportunity to have an awesome emotional scene between Johny and Meryl, but what we got instead is 2 characters on God mode who were never threatened by the ennemy

Obviously the reason the FROGS don't believe in the Heart of the Cards which is why they weren't bouncing about in that last scene.

And out of curiosity, did any of you take a look at the exit Snake takes?

It's a corridor, you can jump and wall-climb however you want, for the most of that scene Meryl and Akiba would have forced the FROGS into a bottleneck, safest route in would have been cautious advance, not backflipping in.

Not to mention they had to climb stairs to face them, they had the tactical advantage, best the FROGS could have done is advance along the outer walls then take pot-shots around the corner. Seeing how the corridor had pillars Meryl and Akiba could hide out and avoid blind pot-shots fired.

Granted, you could just lob a grenade in there, but FROGS don't seem big on the 'nades.

The latter part where they're rolling on the floor getting shot up was just action movie fluff, made more rediculous by the fact they were wielding Desert Eagles, not too familiar with guns, but I'm guessing a .50 cal DE has some kick to it when you're firing it one-handed after getting shot in the arm.

The ceiling is much higher in the middle of the room, and there is a lot of space on both side. Johny and meryl wouldnt even be able to take full cover if someone came from either side, and dropping from the ceilling would have got the frog on top of the stair, which is better than the 20 frogs who got shot at the bottom of the stair.

just finish the game for the 2nd time and i must say i really love the snake vs ocelot fight, best part is when they are fighting with the snake eater theme, love that song.
