has anyopne heard more about the dualshock support? i don't currently own one, and i don't want to miss some cool-ass aspect of the game because my controller doesn't vibe.

MGS4 supports the dualshock controller, I picked up one just for mgs4 ( I find the MGS series uses the vibration feature the best)

Most PS3 games support the dualshock now, just FYI..

Sonystyle.com said they will have the PS3 MGS4 bundle for preorder "probably in a few days, definitely within a week" so I'm going to go that route to save $80 or so after shipping with their credit card deal.

If your talking about MGS1 I believe if your on PS3 you can go into controller settings through the PS button and change it from digital to analog and the analog sticks will work. I think that was how you did it

I picked up my Essentials copy today and started playing through MGS1 and luckily I didn't get too far into the game when I realized I hadn't created a PS1 memory card slot so I couldn't save the game and had to back all the way out. Needless to say I was a little miffed and turned the game off for a bit.

I have a problem, I gave my PS2 away a while ago, and I want to play through the series again, however, there's no fucking way I'm going to be able to buy the essentials and the bundle and NOT play MGS4 first. I have no where near the self control to not open and play immediately.

Doesn't sound like you have too many options... you could always just buy a PS3 now, and get the game when it comes out. By then you should be able to beat the Essential Collection.
