What's scarier is that we didn't just cope, but considered them "good" when it first came out. Now the game looks hideous.

That's like the easiest part of the game... You throw a chafe grenade here and there, you shoot that one guy here. It does suck that it's time consuming. The fucked up part for me was when you drop the key. I learned that last night if you have less than 10 encounters throughout the game up to that point then the key doesn't drop into the drainage ditch but actually ends up getting eaten by a rat. I probably spent thirty minutes trying to find that damn key until I pulled out my bomb detector and found the rat.

Bleh. MGS1 done (forgot how cheesy the ending is) - but now my ps2 won't read my MGS2 disc, but it reads the MGS3 disc.

...damnit, decisions decisions...

I read that the PS3 MGS4 bundle is backwards compatable for PS2 games but I didnt see anything saying about if it will play PS1 games or not. Does anyone know for sure cause I was gonna get the bundle and start from the begining witht he essential collection and go right into MGS4 after I finished.

Pretty sure all PS3 SKUs are compatible with PSX games, since they sell them on the PSN store and everything.

Even the 40 GB version can play Ps1 games as it doesn't require the chip they took out of the 60 GB BC model. So yes the 80 GB will play the Ps1 games as well.

80GB supports PS1 and PS2 games. 40GB only supports PS1, you cannot play PS2 games on it.

Xplay is reporting that Konami isnt allowing reviewers to report on quite a few things, beyond obvious plot spoilers. They're refusing any talk about length of cutscenes and space required to install the game. Pretty shady stuff.
