    Transfer FF to another com?

Is there a way to transfer FF from one com to another com if they're on the same network? Or do I need the CDs?

    Thanks in advance

I forget the exact method but it's possible to do so by transferring the whole directory and making a dump of the registry of FFXI and then importing it to your destination PC. However, the registry details escapes me for now :/

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS\InstallFolder]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS\SquareEnix\TetraMaster]
    "LOADDIR"="C:\\Program Files\\PlayOnline\\SquareEnix/TetraMaster/"
    in a .reg file

    then

    Code:
    FOR /R %%G IN (*.dll) DO regsvr32 /s "%%G"
in a notepad file and change the extension from txt to bat, run it, might need to be in the squeenix directory, I don't remember. then you just need a file check, you don't have to install at all, just copy pasta the entire folder, or transfer it over your network I guess

Re: Transfer FF to another com?

you run the reg file, from anywhere..then run the .bat presumably also from anywhere, couldn't hurt to do it from the SE directory, though

Re: Transfer FF to another com?

Was already a thread on this.

    For the guide:

    http://wiki.windower.net/guides/move_pc ... _reinstall

For registering the .dll files. Do what's said above. Open notepad. Paste this code FOR /R %%G IN (*.dll) DO regsvr32 /s "%%G"

    Save as...

    File type "All files"

    Name it "FFXI.bat"

    Save to desktop.

    Run it.

    End.

Re: Transfer FF to another com?

I've tried and tested it. The longest part of course is transferring about 9 gigs worth of files (All expansions, fully up to date installation). This can take roughly and hour depending on your hardware between the computers and your network type. It works perfectly fine. In playonline you will notice also any account information/passwords you have saved will be transfered over as well. I'm not sure which file they are stored in, but anyone that can copy that file can gain access to your account if you save the information (likewise they can do it with a key logger as well, lose/lose any way). This is how some peoples accounts are being stolen by that file being copied and sent to whomever (RMT?) is stealing them.
