yeah, that dumb american gladiators show made her gain up to about 170 for tapings...and they only ended a month or so ago.

i am very glad elitexc is on CBS...i think it's great for the sport to get mainstream tv. kimbo is a sideshow freak though until he fights someone in the top 50...let alone top 10. he's not a bad fighter...i'll even go so far as to admit that he's probably a top 25 heavyweight...but he's getting a lot of coverage in such a short time in the sport that a lot of people just want to see him fail so they can point and laugh. at the end of the day, i'm not ever going to be mad at anyone for making money. do what you need to do to get what you can, while you can. he'll never be a top 5 heavyweight, but he can be a very good side attraction to get that specific viewer to tune in, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. boxing has done it for 40 years that way.

Kimbo is actually an OK guy, personality-wise, so I have nothing against him because he seems pretty nice. The problem I have is the attention he's getting when he's not fought against anyone of any caliber. There's way too many other MMA fighters who deserve the money and attention he's getting, and that's why I want to see him fail. I want him to be matched against someone who is actually a good MMA fighter so he can get a wake-up call before his head gets big, or at least to take the wind out of the sails of all the fans who think he can do no wrong. And of course Bas is going to say he's the real deal. What's he supposed to say? He's training the guy, lol.

Fuck Kimbo Slice. He's nothing more than Tank Abbott. Put him in there against any truely skilled upper class talent and they will take him apart faster than you can blink.

Kimbo could easily fight in the UFC with enough training in grappling and submission... but the dude is just starting out way too late in the game. You can't deny his Tyson-esque skill and passion for fighting. You can't just fall into the trap the media is trying to paint with his image, typical demonizing the intimidating black guy, etc. If you've seen any of his interviews, you can tell he's got a good head on his shoulders and seems like a real cool dude. Especially when you compare him to all the pieces of shit that are up-and-comers, trying to get in on the MMA celebrity fame.

i dont mind kimbo so much as his youtube fans that know nothing of MMA and claim he will be the greatest of all time. like sunblind pointed out every interview ive seen with him ive been surprised at how well spoken and humble he is. ive never seen him talk himself up, he knows he is a work in progress and that he still has a long way to go. if he were 24 and not 34 i would be so excited for his future, but sadly unless he keeps getting fed garbage i doubt he has much of one.

ESPN just did a ten minute piece on kimbo...that was interesting. had joe rogan talking about him, which was odd enough, then they mentioned that some MMA stars aren't happy with the push...and it showed tito saying how he'd get destroyed by a skilled heavyweight. was kind of odd seeing rogan talk about an elitexc star and hyping him up.

I know a lot of people are upset about the coverage Kimbo gets considering his opponents... But you really have to give the guy a break. I know he needs to face good opponents eventually (Thompson isn't that bad), but the dude has only three fights under his belt (one amateur, two pro). Give it time. After his 5th win or so, you'll start to see an increase in caliber.

Aside from that, I'm way too fucking pissed I have to work tonight. I really really wanted to watch this live. :/
