If you are a stickler for updated programs and the newest versions but can't be hassled to look for them, I suggest using File Hippo's update checker.

yesterday i disable shock wave flash object until adobe released the lastest version. But then I found that I can't click the forum button in main page lol

I was watching here as well as POL for the announcement. First saw it on Alla, referring to a WoW announcement. Then I pasted it on the FFXI LJ Community which didn't get too many responses. It seems that until SE says jump, nobody really listens anymore. Other sites knew about it a day and a bit before SE found out >_<

hmm, had iframes off on no script, use firefox, and avg had absolutely no trouble getting rid of it. Wonder if I just had a program that had smart.dll and got a false positive because of it.

*sigh* Update this, patch that. Theres always going to be tiny security holes that get exploited to screw us. Its such a lovely feeling to always be playing catch-up with the hijackers and knowing that we're effectively out-of-luck because SE won't help us when we do fall victim.

I love this game. But at this point trying to keep from getting jacked keeps me more busy than any of the endgame content.

Windowsblinds, a Stardock application, utilizes their own copy of smart.dll. If you had that application installed that's where it might have come from.

Its nice of SE telling us this information. But they need to get there finger out. These account hackings will continue forever in MMORPGs. Hackers will find new exploits every now and then. No one will be safe but more safety measures should be introduced.

For me the biggest flaw is not operating weekends. Obviously anyone who is comprised during the weekend is pretty screwed. The people/persons will deal the most damage taking probably every valuable asset available. Thus making hackings worth it. I mean jeez the threads here "Attention players with Compromised Accounts" has 508 posts with 5500+ views. SO many people are or have been affected! And this must be having huge implications on the game as a whole.

Increased security in play online maybe?

Especially when changing a password. For example having a Secret question i.e dogs name or something. The account freezing is good but obviously the chance of being hacked could happen again another time down the line.

Better encryption?
