So, I know you have to use riding time + gear to achieve this but is there any information out there as what the best route's to take are?
I tried searching but well, chocobo isn't exactly an underused term.

You don't need gear to do Sandy > Bastok, I believe it takes in the neighborhood of 21-24 minutes. You would need it for Windurst though. And you don't want to do the ones from/to Jeuno, your reward isn't an exp scroll. And going Bastok > Sandy isn't as easy because of the ramps in LaThiene.
The Rabao to SSG one is the shortest, but it's also probably the most frustrating. I've only gotten it twice in trying it a few dozen times.
So if you're bored and really want to do this, I'd recommend Sandy > Bastok. I think it's offered on Earthsday & 2 others, but not positive.
Sandy>Windy doesn't need gear either, if you need the extra time you're already too slow. I can usually make the run in about 27:30 (And I'm apparently missing some shortcut, b/c the record is 26:30ish or less), just need to beat 28:29 for a Miratete's scroll.
Only tricky zones would be jugner and meriph, really.
I'm not really sure what level of directions you're looking for, I'll take some SS when I run this tomorrow with key spots if you need pics.
Ronf: Straight run, more or less SW to OP, straight S from OP, the road sucks so just dodge trees.
La Theine: Try not to get caught in the ruins, drop down onto the level with the lake, straight E.
Jugner: Don't follow the road, cut as tight as you can to the wall closest to the next turn you will take. Cross the gap at H-9 (south of the mountain behind the OP), cross the river just E of the OP, finish same deal as start, avoid the road because it is loopy.
Batallia: Go east, not a lot here. Can stick to the S wall until it drops off around H/I-9
Rolanberry: ... not hard
Sauro: Like you're going to Citadel, but don't start going up levels at H-9 (The heck? All the key positions are H-9) keep going east, turn south when you can.
Meriph: This is where I think I lose time, but cut just N of the OP, don't fall onto the road, cross the bridge at F/G-5. Come around the corner to go south, and again, don't follow the road. Cross it at F-8, and stay to the E of the mountains there. You'll be able to cross a bridge over the road again at E-10, straight run to zone from there. The spiky gray plants are larger than they seem, might get caught on these a little.
Tahrongi: From zoneline, go straight to the corner of the road at H/G-5/6, head south just to the east of the road, not on it. Don't get caught on ledges, etc. Enter the Pass at G/H-9/10, take Left, Left, Right, Right for the fastest path through. Ends up being mostly South, if you're going W for more than 2-3 seconds, it's the wrong way.
Sarta: Don't follow road, etc etc, Drop off the cliff at I-6, cross the E-W river, south through the middle of the map, cross second river just N of the bend (If unsure of where you can leave the river on the west bank, choose sooner than later, some ledges near the corner can't be walked up). From here, straight S towards the gate.
Aside: If you can link me a better screen recorder than FRAPS (lags me down from 30fps to about 10fps, system should handle it but doesn't) I'll record the run and link a vid tomorrow.
That route will only give you small xp scrolls (Dragon chronicals). So if you're bored and really want to do this, I'd recommend Sandy > Bastok.
For Miratates memorys, you'll have to do Sandoria<>Windurst, Kazham<>Rabao or Bastok<>Windurst. Only the Bastok<>Windurst route will need riding gear.
It's late here and I'm not thinking straight, but how do you do Kazham < > Rabao, or Rabao < > SSG ? Aren't those zones not connected at all ?
I think they mean Kazham<>SSG
You will need a golden Chocobo!Aren't those zones not connected at all ?
Yeah, i'm sorry. Kazham<>Norg of course. :-"
Thought so, but two different posts said the same thing and I thought I missed something huge.Originally Posted by Charismatic
