Boomerang and Lucien from Wild arms, this is only the third time you fight him, but there was bonus dungeon where you fight him at the end for extra runes you can get and holy shiot THAT WAS HARD

can't find a video of it though Imagine the same video as that but his boomerang hit like 2000 on you guys <.<

Not an RPG but this boss is just silly

Definately a hard boss. SaGa Frontier did not have an experience point based leveling system, it was similar to FFII I suppose. (It's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head to compare it to.)

If you weren't up for raising your stats, especially HP.. if the instant death off of carnage didn't kill your non mechs then the possible 600 dmg probably would. >_>

I guess luck also comes into play because the area warp is varied and random with different moves that it uses, and obviously if you weren't using some kind of guide then finding a reliable 5 hit combo may not happen. This guy makes it look easier than it really can be (stats probably all maxed), but it's the most decent video I could find. I'd say Genocide Heart is the hardest of the 7 end bosses.

Fuck, pretty much every boss in SaGa Frontier was hard if you didn't know how to level right.
First time I played the game that Rhyno-thing that you have to fight early in Emelia's story kept fucking me up.

I thought I wasn't supposed to fight that because it was so tough, and I couldn't figure out what else to do so I went to someone else's storyline.
Turns out I was actually supposed to be able to beat that >.<

Been a long time, but I remember the bosses in Lunar: Silver Star Story to be very difficult if you didn't grind. Also, QFT on Legend of Legaia, hard game if you went straight through.

Silver Star Story had a system where bosses (don't remember about normal enemies) got tougher the more you leveled up. Sort of like FF8 where Omega throttled the bejesus out of me until I refined some rare cards to basically make me invincible.

For x or y reason I couldn't beat Shinryu when I played for first time FFV, however I did beat Omega, that's why since then, it has been the hardest enemy for me on any FF, and the enemy I felt the most accomplishment beating in games as FFI+II in the Dawn of Souls areas and FFX as well.

Lunar in general is a difficult series, I was playing through Lunar 2 recently and if you ran away from battles you'd be totally screwed by the time you got to the boss. The game was really well-balanced in that sense, there were always just enough battles on the way to the boss to get you at the perfect level to be able to barely beat it. Even the regular battles were hard, you were forced to use your magic/skills a lot in order to get to the boss in one piece, but unlike most games, there was no such thing as a tent/save crystal to heal all that MP back at the end.

Wiegraf was also insanely tough if you didn't know what you were doing, I nearly pissed myself when he summoned all those demons. Yeah, I'd be tough too if I could summon Ultima Demons at will ya cheap fucker.

While this is true, they had a cut off point. For example: The final boss Ghalion (sp) scaled your level until you got higher than LV55 or something. So you could overlevel for bosses, it's just that you had to put a little time in to go past there level scaling cap.

Hardest Bosses I can remember are:
Gades from Lufia and Lufia 2. In Lufia 1 he had like 20 mil HP, and you were supposed to lose.. but if you are level 99 you
can actually beat him, and the game goes on as if you lost.

Lufia 2's Gades from early on is also pretty tough. If you beat him you get the Gades Blade which is pretty badass. You need to grind some for him as well.

    Other notable bosses:

    - Culex from Super Mario RPG if you don't use the Lazy Shell Armor/Weapon combo on Peach.

    - Lavos in the Ocean Palace from Chrono Trigger. You're also supposed to lose that fight, but you can win there. I don't think any endings required you to beat this. I did this on my first play through once, was insanely tough.

    - Some of the bosses in Xenogears were quit painful if I remember right. Esp if you missed an upgrade or two for you Mech. Calamity (1st boss) was also tough. You can only win by luck IIRC. If he chooses certain moves you will lose no matter what since your Mech can only be upgraded so much at that point.

    - Breath of Fire 3 optional boss (from the only bonus dungeon I think?) It's been awhile but I remember an optional boss at the end of the game being brutally hard

and last but not least: Some of the Grandia bosses. The 1st Grandia game had optional bosses that were a bitch.

Also @ that Mushihime game... It just seems like they threw in a bunch of random shit that unless you really have the patterns memorized it's impossible. In other words, memorization over skill. In a related matter, Ikaruga is overall a really hard fucking game that is pretty much 50/50 on memorization/creating routines and raw skill.

SMB RPG - I was gonna say this, however, I never used the lazy shell armor/weapon on peach. She just had her frying pan >.> it was still a hard fight, but not that challenging. I'd say the hardest fight in the game would have to be the Birthday Cake fight. It has no HP value, and can only be killed when you manage to "blow his candles out" by constantly attacking. I guess i was low level back then and focused to much on keeping my charcters alive instead of attacking idk.

Chrono Trigger - Deffintly the hardest fight in the game. Although taking on Lavos solo on a fresh new game+ with Crono solo is a bit harder IMO.

Xenogears - Actually I just started playing this from scratch again durring the ffxi update the other day. Got to Calamity and I rememebred it being a hard fight. I stomped the shit out of him, he barely touched me. If you just use the upgrades from old man bal in the caves, Bart's Wild Smile ether attack to lower acc/eva and have fei high enough level to get 2 combo rounds he was cake. I really don't think I out level'd or anything, I was around level 16.

Anyway on the subject of Xenogears and hard bosses. The hardest fight in the game is on Disk 2 with your last encounter with Miang and Ramsus. Where you have to fight Ramsus first and use up all most all of your fuel just to be thrown into another battle with Miang. I was stuck on this fight for almost a month when I was younger, deffintly one of the hardest fights in the game IMO.

Breath Of Fire 3 - you are refering to Archmage and Berserker in the Container Yard. 2 optional 'bosses' if you can even call them that. deffinly the last 'challenge' in the game as far as hard mobs go. Although the fight with Bailo and Sunder in Cedar Woods was harder....even though you could NEVER WIN! >.< started a challenge topic on gamefaqs bof3 board many years ago trying to beat that fight. I spent months leveling to level 36 getting 8-16 exp a kill, just to disprove a stupid rumor -.- talk about exp grinding >.>

Che Delias(sp?) and Xain get honorable mention as well.

That game had just the right level of difficulty if you didn't grind.
This. God money was such a bitch to get in Legaia as well.

Honorable mention to Velius if you arent prepared as well, you basically either have to start over or know whats coming to not hit the wall versus him since he outclasses everything else you've fought up until that point in the game. (LolCuchulainn)

Taking on the form of Lavos in Zeal was really just a matter of overlevelling. You couldn't actually survive the "Destruction rains from the heavens" attack at normal levels since it did over 1k damage until you had leveled up obsessively.

I don't know about Calamity, never had trouble with that.
In Xenogears the boss I really remember having a hard fight against (although I didn't lose) was Redrum.
Fuck having to use slow ass Rico.

Also, the Miang/Ramsus thing wasn't much of a problem for me because of my playstyle.
I love using Fenrir/Xenogears/Crescens for everything.
Crescens and Chu-chu are awesome for those fights. (Crescens for the EtherMachine and Chu-chu for healing)
I usually would let Citan go all out (booster and everything) on Ramsus and let Emeralda blast both of them away with Ether... I'd have Fei hold back on Ramsus and try to go to infinity level attack mode and blast him with those attacks.
On Miang Citan would usually be low on fuel but Fei and Emeralda would be good to go for the most part.

I honestly didn't expect the Miang battle to be right after, but luckily for me that's pretty much my basic strategy for all bosses except Hammer...

I never had trouble with redrum, I just saved my AP and unleashed it to finish him quickly.

As for the Ramsus and Miang fight, I guess my tactics were not suited for the fight. I guess I tend not to draw out hard fights and to try and get them over with quickly, when in this case you have to play it safe. And having to watch that fucking 20 min CS every time I wiped >.<

And I was going to mention the Hammer fight, but the only hard part about that is trying to kill him before he explodes to get that item the Trader Card.

When you already know how to fight him he is.
But if you're suggesting you beat him on your first try in KH1 I call bullshit.
