This will without a doubt be the greatest update that FFXI has ever seen.
I am slightly disappointed though that these NMs will be located in ToAU and not WoTG.

Well 18 of the new items have to be Nyzul relics (or is it 20?). I really doubt SE would count any pieces that are used to upgrade them so that leaves about 30, thats about 6 armor sets. Maybe 5 new armor sets (mage set, Breastplate set, scale set, Eastern set, Harness set) and an equivalent of the Sky gods set (osode, hidate etc).
This update seems to be in place of ToAU "end game zone". Seeing as we just do Sky for Crimson Cuisses and Haidate now, I wonder if this update will obsolete Sky. Also hope it has better drops than lolsea D:
Hopefully some of the gear can replace current endgame equipment - mage and melee. Let's also hope for a variety of NMs ranging from solo/party/ally level difficulty.
This is probably the last update we get before the next Expansion/Server Shutdown

Is that sword WS the PLD using something already in?
I should know this, being a PLD with 304 sword skill but it doesn't look like anything I normally use.

I'm thinking it looks like the WS that we saw in the WoTG video.
looks like a sword version of yukikaze. But i'd say its the circle blade animation.
Am I the only one thats optimistic about the quality of the new gear?
Its clear that these new HNMs will be poped. Which means that to all LSs, This will only be an equivalent of Sky/Sea, yet SE talks as if this would solve camping problems. The only way people would leave kings for this is if it had better drops.
You really think that there was some meeting where they said "ya know we're losing money, let's stop sucking ass and make content that FFXI endgamers want"?Originally Posted by Yutuyu
I really think this is just a perfect storm of shit we want all coming at one time. Everything that is done in this game is done at a glacial pace.
As far as the gear quality... I don't know the details of the system or have a good analogue so idk.
If the requests from the NPC is "pain free" like they say then . . . .
From the text, this will be similar like BCNM where there is a battlefield.
It depends how many they implement and I hope its like assault where more than one party can enter the same battlefield. If not, there will be a long line and not to mention trouble.
Furthermore, sound like the points for the Battlefield trigger will go up if more people purchase the trigger? I wonder if there will be a cap for that . . .
Can you imagine? Yes, I finally got 10,000 points to get this pop item! No! It went up to 11,000 points . . . wait another hour to get points. Yes, finally 11,000 points now. Ugh . . . it went up to 11,500 . . . time to wait another hour.
Here's the video I was talking about:

At 1:30. Definitely not the same WS, lame!
I'm excited about this. Even if the gear is only sidegrades or slightly useful for a variety of jobs and not replacements for King gear I will happily do most of this content either for myself or my friends. Even the WoTG NM items they added were useful enough to warrant a lot of my time, they just didn't have nearly as many as this update has.
Also, keep in mind that "over 50 items" could mean from all levels. Probably only 10-20 will be level 75 items (in my opinion). I could be wrong, though!
The sam is right behind the arm. You can see the tip of his feet below the enemy's hand as well as his ring of lights. Just sayin. >.>
Bolded part wouldn't surprise me if you're right.Originally Posted by Sonomaa

Companies have mission statements; goals. Maybe those changed? All I know is it's been a year since we got a truly "good" update, we're finally getting one, and it's following a bad financial report for SE for the last.
Could it be a factor? I think so.
Just one little thing, they didn't say "with drops from sky/sea" they said "NM's the caliber of infamous sky/sea NM's" with "50 completely new drops".
No they aren't adding a new weapon category, it's a staff.
Maybe they will actually release alternatives to king gear, or maybe they will just release some really nice but not quite RoTZ caliber stuff, but later adjust kings to use this system if it proves really popular.
Still confused about the pld WS in that pic.
So far this update looks like it will beI am cautiously optimistic however I won't actually be jumping for joy until we get the full update notes during the update.
You never know this is SE so on that day we might be![]()

Fuck you, SE.
Fuck you for adding all this shit and fixing it all after I fucking quit.
Fuck you. -.-
But who's to say I still can't play anymore?![]()
God lrn2read the rest of the thread! Was already stated that every WS has that animation at the start of it.Originally Posted by Therin

You say Staff I say Polearm. Name 1 staff other than useless "all jobs" garbage a SAM can Equip? It's a polearm.Originally Posted by Max™
I think the sea/sky reference was due to the fact that they will operate similar to sea and sky NMs; fixed trigger-basis in the field somewhere.
Anyone thinking the drops will replace *all* ground items is delusional; maybe a few but Ridill or D. Ring? No way.
I have a feeling these 50 items will consist primarily of endgame gear for the jobs that don't currently have much of it; DNC, SCH, COR, BLU, and PUP. Also remember that the grips system hasn't been fully developed, they need to release some ex/rare grips with better stats than AH purchasable.
