Well, the OP was made mostly about experiences I had in non-merit situations, such as having Zoraal Ja's camp completely cleared out when another PT shows up and starts claiming birds (Main and only healer was on my friend list lol). We all know a Merit Discussion would get crazy, that's akin to discussing virtuous behavior at HNM camps. Do the posters that take full claim to any merit camp feel the same way about non-75 situations? At lower levels EXP can be rough, I just wonder how people feel when they don't have the upper hand because of HNM gears/Relics in their parties.

Threads like this remind me of why I never party if I can help it. (Rarely I will party with LS people, but they're of the same mindset as me: better to get less XP and no stress than fighting with other people over a "good" camp.) I can't think of anything less fun to me personally than fighting with some other party over a camp.

Getting your merits through campaign/besieged may be slower, but it's less stressful, more fun, and you don't have to fight with people over stuff. Hell, I'd probably quit FFXI before I dealt with fighting over camps.

If I XP at all anymore it's usually just Campaign or me off soloing somewhere on Paladin or Samurai. I prefer not having to talk to anybody when I actually do log on.

I think it is quite possibly one of the most dickheadish things you can do in this game to camp on top of another party. I have left parties that insisted on camping on another party. It would piss you off if someone did it to you, perhaps you should maybe think about that before you do it to someone else.

I don't like camping on top of other parties, but damned if i don't stick around when other parties camp on top of me... ^^:; Sure they may have two bards to our one, but between the 6 people in my party I'm sure I can keep them from maintaining a chain (which becomes the goal when some other party tries to run me off). Actually last night in a LS ddx4 brd whm party we managed to outpull the two bard + rdm party that tried to camp on top of us (they left after we hit chain 30 ... i guess killing the wivre got boring).

Those of us who value our time enough to give a damn about what we're wearing and who we're with will utilize the game's better camps.

But who the hell makes you the judge of who's using a camp the way you say it should be used? People who don't have OMFG APOC RIDILL GHORN have every right to exp/merit as you do, and can also very easily pull 20k/hr without a lot of effort at those camps. It's one thing if 4 people are standing there for a half an hour with their fingers up their asses but quite another if they're pulling the mobs. If you're going to fuck over someone else to get your own in this game, you are a douchebag, plain and simple. I don't care what kind of excuse/rationale you have for doing it. Find another place to merit or find another time when it's not so crowded.

What alternate reality are you playing in? No one here is talking about people who are pulling in 20k/H. If you are, there aren't three birds sitting dormant in the upper level, while your Durandel-wielding PLD/WAR tells the Summoner that its time to Howling Moon the party again.

Don't act like we're all just rushing in and stealing a camp from people who let a single bird sit there for more than 15 seconds. We both know that no one is referring to such a situation.

I have camped over people with shitty parties and been overcamped BY shitty parties, ive also done and been done to by Awesome PT's. I've camped on friends, and left complete strangers alone before. Mood is part of it. I try to be respectful, sometimes it takes too much energy.

For my two cents, i happen to love pickup parties, its really why i play this game. I never < ok very rarely > get bent over people's behavior, especially if i dont really know who they are. This doesn't mean i won't blacklist, there's just no hatred. Getting six strangers to coordinate their actions is an amazing thing and its funny how it can turn around too. blah blah.

I am amazed at the amount of people who don't realize the mamools up top are better than birds (tho sometimes I wish there was 1 more spawn :/) This is probably the best place to exp but most people are too lazy to make their RDM actually do anything.

At for reference, if we are doing birds and a lower level party is there we usually leave them enough birds to keep going and pull a random wivre if need be (but this is rarely the case since we tend to stick to mamools/or camp isn't crowded)

The thing that will piss me off more than anything is a BLU coming and camping on my BLU by the engraved tablet in the Mire (North of Khimmy) usually I get this place and continuously killing the 2 in the tunnel and a couple out in the soulflayers, then some bastard BLU will come camp on me. You would think jobs that actually solo there regularly would know not to screw others...

Of all of the single-digit times I've actually driven a party out of a camp, this has been a constant.

if there are not enough mobs for you to pull without ruining the 1st parties exp and you camp there, you're a fag.

people who argue 'not using the camp to its potential' must think they better than everyone else and somehow got the idea its up to them to determine if a party is good enough.

people with ridills dont deserve a camp more than people with that 'pld and smn' party.

althought yes if they standing around for 15-20mins or 4/6 members then it is fine to camp ontop of them, really as soon as you stop fighting you stop owning the camp.

I don't like fighting over merit camps, but it's a stretch to call camping on top of certain parties a fight. Really, there's more "melee RDM, healing RDM, SMN72, full hachiman SAM, durandal, full AF, VIT rings PLD and scorpion arrow RNG"-style PT's out there than you would think. The kind of people who genuinely believe bottom bird camp can support two parties. Only to be rudely awoken when they try to camp on an actual, worthwhile PT.
If there's more than four or five birds up at bottom camp, you shouldn't be surprised to be driven out. Any halfdecent AH-geared pt can keep a birds level cleared, you don't need two BRD's, Ridills (lolwut) or relics for that.

I don't mind being the one who does that, but usually I scout out camps properly, and go someplace else. THF or not, I enjoy mamool camps far more than colibri, seems like every time I camp at bottom, sometime during the session some noob party will drop down and start pulling birds. They leave after 30mins, seeing how they can't get more than one bird to our four or five, but it's still subpar exp for those 30 minutes. When Mamook is open, no pt's at trolls, one pt at mamool ja staging point, why would you throw yourself in a fight you can't win? Scouting for camps really isn't hard, just a couple of /sea's in town, and maybe one or two warp cudgel charges between your pt members.

And Tsuko it's not about "keeping up." It's about having respect for other people who play the game their way. I don't give a shit about your grey area or the circumstances. Who are you to decide that because this party has a Durandal Paladin, you deserve that camp more.

Camp on top of other parties and you're a greedy douchebag. That's it. End of story. You want something and instead of doing the right thing, you do what benefits YOU.
