I was a fan of sushi (squid or sole) when I was leveling ranger up, never could really have enough acc at low levels.
Subs are a good attack food.

    Re: Ranger Guide/Blog

ranger is not a normal melee as far as accuracy goes. They get 4 accuracy bonuses, 10, 30, 50, 70. So bearing that in mind your hell levels for hitting things are 25-30, 45-50, and 65-70. After that 90% of the time you can go meat.

So bear in mind where others will whiff you can hit, meat is the first option, sushi is the second. The only thing I always use sushi on is thf mobs, which still suck (byakko grr) but you can basically hit anything with a normal setup, adding merits is awesome, prelude+min make you awesome.

Yeah, at 75 you should be able to eat meat and maintain 90%+ accuracy just about anywhere outside of HNMs.

RNG basically has sushi as a job trait, with +48 accuracy naked. Add on the plethora of easy/cheap +RAcc gear that RNG has access to, and you're basically going to find yourself capped or very near-capped on nearly all normal mobs. Even if you don't have combat merits.

    Re: Ranger Guide/Blog

hmm, i've seen different results regarding racc. Rng is the moodiest job ever from my experience, with 8/8 archery merits and even using sushi at colibiri (gil-toss+1) i can and have missed 3-4 sidewinders in a row. On other days I have had better luck and have completely annihilated a variety of mobs Though I do have a tendency not to take my tp to 150 all the time, but the amount of times I've missed a 150 tp sidewinder makes me ...

    Anyhow here's some pictures,

    TP-Archery
    http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...616_022141.png
+76 Ratk (+79 if in right area) (+81 if using Kreigs+Fran and +87 if in right area)
    +39 Racc (+50 with Kriegs+Fran)
    +15 Agi (+20 w/ Kriegs)
    +33 Str

    Full ACC-Archery (Barrage)
    http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...616_022409.png
+63 Ratk (+69 if in right area) (+68 if using Kriegs+Fran and +74 if in right area)
    +61 Racc (+72 if using K+F)
    +28 Str
    +15 Agi

    WS Gear
    http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...616_022358.png
+48 ratk (+54 iif in right area) (+53 if using K+F and +59 if in right area) (+whatever breeze gorget adds)
+19 racc (+ whatever racc breeze adds)
+46 str (wonder if there is a tier like dex tier)
    +30 agi

The above dmg shots are from a single xp session, i have another pic from another day that shows "miss miss miss miss miss................" randomness!

edit: gear still needs work! Been waiting on rng apo item for af+1 hands and head, hopefully one day will get salvage legs and feet, and will eventually do apoc nigh for the racc earring (3 racc yus!!!) and redo divine might to get rid of lolsuppa) Any other tips, feel free to leave em!

    Re: Ranger Guide/Blog

Well yeah, you're always going to just miss and go on miss streaks. At best you're never going to get past an average of 95% accuracy no matter how much acc you have, and this is especially true with something like Sidewinder.

Heck I've missed like 3 WS in a row once on bunnies on ronfaure, and there's no possible way I wasn't capped on those lol.

    Re: Ranger Guide/Blog

yeah haha thats true, but I've always found it especially true on Ranger. One day I'll be on fire (no misses, same distance, and crazy damage) and then the next day it's the complete opposite (not a 50-50 thing but the shitty days do happen periodically and more frequently than I'd like).

    Ranger is effected by moonphase....loljk

    edit:

anyone know how much racc and ratk is added to breeze gorget?

Hey Terra, I noticed you were talking about the rapid shot activation on Beret +1, if you don’t mind, what kind of rate does it have (I’m guessing stacks with merits?).

As far as how much dmg the gorget adds, I cant remember if I did some personal testing on bunnies with it or not, but I do remember testing S Kote vs CFG on bunnies… being capped on then with CFG, switching to S Kote added 60dmg per Sidewinder. I doubt that is a number set in stone, but it was enough to settle the debate for me (and the acc bonus over CFG).

That test actually wouldn't work very well for bunnies. You're almost definitely capped on attack for any mobs at those levels, and so the +10 RAtt from the CFG shouldn't do anything at all.

The AGI WS modifier on the other hand will always add damage, and doesn't have a cap.

Regardless though, I'm pretty sure that Seiryu's Kotes will win out in damage anyway for just about every situation.

You know after I wrote it today, I got to thinking about this and figured someone would confirm it for me... so I appreciate it... BUNNIES YOU ARE DEAD TO ME!

But even knowing that, I agree S Kote seems to be the way to go over CFG... I used to want CFG to be better so much because Im a huge proponent of attack and it makes me shake my head when I see people neglecting attack (like when you used to see SAMs on KI bragging about their +60 STR and their attack would something terrible like 360 in WS gear, meh)... but yeah, CFG just hasnt seemed to win out in WS DMG like I had wanted.

I use Seiryu's Kote over CFG simply the 8 extra racc

I really wish I can do Dynamis. I can't stand event taking longer than 2hrs

no ratk, simply fTP +0.0947 (25/256) and probably 10 racc

I estimate the activation on Hunter's Beret (or +1) to be around 5%. I have not done what I would call extensive testing on the proc rate, but I think this is pretty accurate. And yes, this most definitely stacks with merits.

Seiryu's Kote has always been the bigger dmg WS piece for me than CFG or BFG. Finally got Freya's Gloves from silver sea remnants last night, so I'll try parsing out some numbers with those instead of kote. I have a pretty strong feeling that Kote will still be better overall, just because you really can't ever have enough ranged accuracy on sidewinder unless you're fighting some weak stuff. However, if Skadi's hands are indeed better dmg wise i'll probably just throw them on my WS set for when I am using PPA and on my Namas Arrow WS set full time.
