1 good set @75 doesn't make up for the fact that PUP gets screwed pretty badly on the way there. I leveled PUP to 37 just cause and i felt bad the whole time. I don't know how anyone gets that job to 75 with the craptastic gear available to it. At least SMN has AF+1, AF2, and JSE, not to mention gear selections that are kind of inline with what the job does.

PUP's primary issue stems from lack of base skill, not gear issues. Sure, the whole Seer's set confusion struck me as a little weird, but SE's been trying to rectify it. Animator +1? Usukane? You can actually -use- those.

I'd almost call the PUP argument void, as the last good SMN gears actually predate the entirety of PUP as a job...

Well, i'm neither a 75 SMN or a 75 PUP, so i'm not gonna go delving into a vs. argument with endgame gear. I do know that plotting a course from PUP1 to PUP75 is filled so many "WTF" gear choices it's amazing that a lot of them even get to the point where Usukane is an option.

It's strange to me because all i ever read is SMNs QQing about their job and gear, but all i ever see is them doing ridiculous things in game that pretty much no other job is capable of.

As strange as the gear choices for PUP1-75 may be, at least the PUP gets to be a PUP.
SMN gears 1-75 in an attempt to be a WHM-analog, unless they're soloing, then Gear's kinda moot since the primary strat is "Throw the avatar on, and run 'till you have to recast."

I begin to wonder how much of SMN's gear woes is SE being afraid of just breaking the job wide open. Don't get me wrong, SMN's received a boon or two in the last couple updates... the biggest one being /SCH. Aspir and 248 Dark Magic skill as 75SMN? Two years ago, you'd have read that and said, "WTF is this guy smoking?"

when SE announced diabolos in the teaser before the update, they actually wrote "new avatar" and went on to list all of its abilities....

but the style of format they used in the update teasers pre-ahturhgan is different than how they do things now... SE seems to like to give alot of backstory to things now (nms, missions teasers), so I think it's a real possibility that he'll be an avatar.

idea on where they'd put it... everbloom hollow comes to mind, which i believe is an instanced zone, no hopefully no mess like when diabolos 1st came out lol

Diabolos was never a teaser, he was a Patch day surprise. His abilities were listed because it was patch day. Your memories suck

PS : It will be sad if people do "/recast Ixion" on patch up and it gives a command error.

evoker's gages are a laugh. yay for an extra -1 levi in besieged, but nowhere else.
marduk is great for spirit pets and syphon, so yay? maybe a piece or 2 more with "enhances avatar" on it, since our stats mean nothing.
