The primary reason Summoners tend to complain is because no job gets shafted for gear more than SMN.

I kinda disagree with that. PUP got a ton of extra craps the last few updates. It was more adjustments then anything but they got way more attention then SMN ever did.

marduk is great for spirit pets and syphon, so yay? maybe a piece or 2 more with "enhances avatar" on it, since our stats mean nothing.

(Putting aside my poor and noob post count I just had to comment on this...)

I'm sorry, but to sit there all QQ about SMN (I'm going to Assume you are a SMN) and then have absolutely no idea how the job is, Stats mean nothing?!
Again sorry, but WTF?!? Put yourself over the skill cap and you'll find Marduk feet boost your Avatar attack (And Acc whilst at it) more than your AFv2 Feet.
Any SMN thinking Marduk set blows, needs to spend less time QQ-ing and more time playing the job properly.

However, on topic, I'm more thinking Ixion will be a new form of HNM or at least NM, and I'm a deluded yet hopeful SMN but for some reason can't see this being an Avatar.

Betting on it being a plot device ala Odin/Dark Rider, Alexander/Cait Sith/Etc. It's missing that familiar "Summon Goo" in the screenshots, you know the wierd glow stuff that outlines all avatars? Hoever, all the Cavernous Maws have said goo.... Mayhaps Smn do indeed aquire a new toy, just not 'My Little Pony'.

Besides, Adding one avatar won't "fix" SMN all of a sudden. Everyone talking about SMN getting shafted when it comes to gear etc. Start asking for more/better gear instead of new avatars.
Either that or make the current avatars stronger.

But i'd rather have Ixion as a avatar instead of a mission NM.. -.-

I remember when Diabolos was released people rushed to go fight him and it took awhile before people figured out a decent strategy. I hope this guy puts up a good fight and his items are decent.

If you are talking about the capped Diabolos bc then yea, if not I remember very welll the first day the many amount of blm x5, rdm/drk waiting there at BC to enter for a fight that lasted 30s.

Stunning surprise

Someone mentioned about him being Lightning element. While Ixion is usually that way in FF, his text does seem to give him a 'heavenly messenger' feel. Perhaps he will be Light element with a thunder based two hour.
