I know Wiki said it, so it must be true, but why compare it to a 911? This is more in the realm of F550/Murcielago territory. Hell, the thing is based on the Gallardo.

Unless you're referring to a 997 911 GT3, you're comparing a flat-6, rear-wheel drive rear-engined car (911) with a V8, mid-engine, all-wheel drive car. The handling dynamics are completely different, of course its going to be more manageable.

Edit: V12 TDI? No, that was the red one at the Geneva Show (the Le Mans TDI - uses the same engine in their LM Prototype cars) The production versions only come with the V8, there were no official plans to produce the V12 TDI, it was just a design exercise:

TBH, I didn't know that was on the wiki article, but the car is not as fast as any Lamborghini or Ferrari. The standard R8 model, the one thats due to be released in the fall is more comparable to a porche 911 based on its power. While it shares the same body as a Gallardo its not the same power. It's substantially slower, but more fuel efficient when compared to a Lamborghini and a Ferrair, there was a Top Gear episode in fact about 2 weeks ago about it.
