I get your moral outrage, I really do, but all that does is lay the groundwork for some major KGB in the 50's style shit, if you put too much power in the hands of the government, especially infallible right to decide which criminals live and which die it's just going to turn into a whole other mess altogether. There is no room for mistakes when you are killing somebody; there is no chance to take it back. They have DNA evidence and several eyewitnesses who can identify him, including the victim.

Short of a guartz-esque conspiracy frameup of a homeless psychopath with a rapsheet going back 10+ years it's by reason alone that I believe this man is guilty and deserves the full punishment allowed by law. Even if he claims insanity the act of following her up to her apartment, turning around clocks, etc. implies a whole lot of premeditation; the guy knew what he was doing.

In a case like this with DNA evidence, multiple eye witnesses, etc. (and taking into account the severity of his crimes) there should be no appeals allowed and he should be shot in the head upon conviction. Saves everyone time, money, and hassle. There is no grey area here.

For all the people saying they'd rather die than spend a day in prison...I think you're forgetting something important. Not everyone is getting beaten up and raped constantly. There are just as many people doing the beating/raping as there are getting it. I don't know where I said anything about changing the bill of rights, or anything related to the courts. All I'm saying is we spend somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-60k a year per inmate keeping them locked up, safe, and healthy. If I'm not mistaken, that's quite a bit more than hard-working, law-abiding citizens living off minimum wage make yearly. If that doesn't seem a little fucking backwards to anyone else besides me, then I'm not sure what to say.
