But that person who was hacked is going to get a rollback and have currency duped for him. Nice that someone got some sweet sweet currency and the rmt didn't get much gil to sell before he gets the banhammer... My husband needs a ton of Bynes still... wish I could have found that deal too...

Not much effect on the overall economy from these rollbacks so far, hopefully a decent number of rmt are getting banned before they can sell all of their loot so there isn't too much high priced stuff flooding the market and lowering prices...

Interestingly, a lot of these RMT characters have limited their sales history on FFXIAH. IIRC it shows the last 25(?) by default unless you register your character and change it yourself. The ones on Carbuncle I looked at set theirs under 10 so I guess they know we use FFXIAH to track them.

reason for the same names is that when RMT hack an account they find themselves on a "random" world they need to transfer the goods out quick. there is just too much work to look up a list of "dsfgerg" RMT names for the place to send the goods.

So they just /servmes and delivery it to their local "server+RMTname"...

When I got hacked last friday, after I got access to my account, I was bored waiting for a GM. So I go browse rolanmart to see price comparisons between my native server (Asura) and Seraph. About 1/2 way through my browsing I come across a mule that's selling nearly all the same gear I got stolen, while AH'n the rest. To prove this fact even more, they were selling two pieces of gear signed by two different friends that don't even play anymore. Anyway, to sum it up, when I got in contact with the GM they wouldn't do shit about it. They actually told me they couldn't take the info.

Summary: I got hacked; I found the mule selling my gear (100% proven fact); GM wouldn't act or forward the info the the STF; the end.

Way to go GMs, way to go.

Just talked to a GM to try and get one of these mules frozen.

GM said to have as many people as possible to submit a report to the STF. I mentioned this thread and the GM said we should have someone type up a professional report and have everyone submit that. The more times it's submitted, the faster they'll do something about it.

In response to the 3k 100 Byne Bill, there was a 500k Cerberus Bow+1 in the bazaar of the mule I reported. And I didn't have enough for it on my mule.

To my shock and great displeasure there is a caidongbei on caitsith. Thanks for the lead Myrrial, I will report as soon as i get home tonight as well as make a GM call to make sure i'm doing everything I can to report them. I worked for 5 months freelance with a company running an MMO as well (company and game shall remain unnamed for privacy), but I remember seeing the small room with people who were supposed to handle the "GM calls" and they were completely not taking it seriously at all other than offering the same 3 tired responses they are trained to give.

No, they changed that.

I don't believe that they have. Just before I joined Versus there was an incident where a player (Cloull) from Garuda was hijacked and ended up being transferred by the RMT to Odin server where he had all his goods sold off and they used his BRD to buff them when they farmed Sky Gods.

When the GMs finally got his account back he found himself on a different server, on his BRD in bare-bones equipment in Sky with a bunch of random god-pop items. By some strange coincidence he ended up on my server. He recognized me from my LJ and sent me a /tell while I was en route to Campaign Battle one day. We hung out and I let him into one of my social pearls and kept us up-to-date on the GM investigation.

The GMs sent him back to Garuda after a day or two. They restored some of his rare/ex stuff but they were NOT willing to restore 90% of his equipment and things. He friendlisted me while he was on Odin and we've kept in touch via POL message since the incident. His friends have largley helped him to get back on his feet in the aftermath---but the GMs certainly didn't restore him to the point that folks on this board seem to think is going to happen.

I would not expect to get your Dynamis money back if you get jacked. I wouldn't expect to get your Hagun or your Hauby+1 or anything like that back. You may get lucky; as this sort of stuff probably varies from case to case. But heres the most recent case that I've seen.

Let me see if I can dig up the exact date....

It appears Valefor has these wonderful folk as well. Did a search for Val and found a Valdongbei along with a ton of other suspect names. Hell, just check out the most viewed characters on Valefor today, Valdongbei is #1 with another character Valchangmao #2.

Given the sheer amount of gibberish names and suspect histories, it is horribly obvious that RMT is using the first three letters of server+whatever. Good job to everyone tracking it down.

Hopefully with this new information we can nail some of these bastards to the wall.

One is stationed in Lower Jeuno: Name is Oaa
One is stationed in Whitegate: Name is Oqq

I saw a player shout for Tele-Dem and asked them if they would let me know if Oaa instantly invited them to teleport. The player ignored me but I followed them to, sure enough, Oaa standing outside the Mog House. Thinking I was clever I ran ahead to Oaa just as soon as he was in my sights and opened a trade window with him. Soon as the window came up I hit Accept Trade without inserting any money into the box.

Oaa then proceeded to "red pearl" as though they were disconnecting. They did end up asking me if I needed a teleport. "u need tele?" Interesting, someone was actually sitting at the keyboard? That or it was an automated response.

I walked away and shouted for Tele-Dem. Oaa PT invited me; I declined. I then IMMEDIATELY shouted for Tele-Yhoat. He invited me again. I declined. I then shouted for a Tele-Dem again and got invited yet a third time.

No matter how many times I repeat this the player will never send me a tell or ask me wtf is wrong with me. They just blindly invite.
