I agree that the OP is too young to be making a permanent decision like that, is probably making it for the wrong reasons, and I also think the "I fucking hate babies" argument is pretty stupid BUT... I don't think insinuating that not wanting kids means you're secretly a failure who had a shitty home life is very fair either. Is it that you just can't conceive of a reason for a healthy individual not wanting kids, and thats the only reason you can think of? I dunno. Everybody's different. Some people just have no desire for it, and they can still have meaningful relationships with other people, and make their life's contribution in another way. There's more to life than just passing the baton to the next generation.Originally Posted by Mizango
As for the last... Well. Not procreating does have tons of benefits for the planet. There is that whole severe human overpopulation problem thing. Not having children is actually very socially responsible, and I think we should be encouraging more people to do it.

Obviously our thoughts are similar when we say that any male that is 19 (or around that age even) and is even genuinely considering a vasectomy is maybe not old enough to understand the consequences of the procedure. The person that you are, or any 19 year old for that matter, today is completely different than what that person is going to be five to ten years down the road most likely. If "they" make what would most probably be a life altering decision at a young age, it would definitely have drawbacks in their future I'd imagine, especially when they finally find a mature woman that wants children.
I'd say alot of women do want children more as they get older, and personally I wouldn't get serious with someone that had a vasectomy at 19 just because they wanted to fuck around. I'm only 20, but I definitely want kids, and would be really fucking upset at my boyfriend if he went and got a vasectomy.
First, I am completely against people having children. With that being said, don't do it.
This post is typical of a lot of ignorant things people seem to get in their heads. I don't say that to be offensive- I'm not calling you stupid. I'm just saying that you have a lot of misinformation.Originally Posted by Shade
For example: Yes, there are rational people that, at a young age, decide they don't want to have kids. However, being that they are rational, they understand that 1. condoms and birth control are cheaper and 2. that their opinion on the matter may change, and therefore they don't make a radical decision to get surgery.
That being said, to all you 14-21 year old folks posting that babies suck, who wants kids, etc: Good. I'm glad you feel this way. You're SUPPOSED to feel that way. You're young- too young most likely to care for a kid, you desire your independence, and you perhaps lack the maturity to deal with a child. Not to mention you probably lack the financial resources to support one properly. Just understand that at your age the "Kids, YUCK!" is the SAME THING as the "Girls, YUCK!" that you went through around 10 years ago.
Finally, the "social benefit" of not having kids is nonsense. While the world may be better served by some control in population, it's hardly the US- and hardly the middle class educated group that is the problem. The US has around .8% population growth. The world average is over 1.2%. Some nations like Uganda have over 3.2% (from 27mil now to est 130mil in 2050). India has a larger population than the US and DOUBLE the growth we have (1.6%).
If you're an educated, well enough off person and you DON'T have a kid or two you're probably doing the world a disservice. The world needs more educated people, and typically smart people raise smart kids. The problem lies more in getting the low income, poorly educated people to cut back on the number of kids they have (that goes for both here and worldwide). This sounds horribly crass to say, but its true: The world will have no shortage of janitors and ditchdiggers. But we could always use more leaders/researchers/educators/engineers/etc to find the next great thing.

I for one am glad he adores cock, seeing as he should never be allowed to procreate and spread his worthless seed. So him not like kids or liking females is a good thing in this particular case. I mean look at his responses to Ty's daughter, I still have yet to grasp how he even interjected himself into an obvious A + B conversation.
Anywho back on topic, If someone wants to get a vasectomy because they genuinely do not want children then I can see that as a responsible act because ward knows, we have enough bastard children as is out here in the world. On the flip side though, basing your decision on the fact that you hate babies is asinine and utterly retarded. I am a parent, other parents and their kids piss me off as well. That speaks of that particular parenting style more than it does the kid. So instead of being a fucking cock the next time a kid is obnoxious, grow a pair and approach the fucking parents, for it is them that are teaching said child these manners, or shall I say lack thereof.
I got my pictures ready also lol. Kid picture spam is ready, locked and fully loaded sir! Ready for deployment.

Where did this misnomer that "once you have a kid, your social/fun life is over". It's quite the contrary. If you don't have the means to support your whims and still provide for your child, I guess I kind of get it...but I've been to concerts, I have a bookshelf full of books, I go to bars, I have hobbies, and they all pale in comparison to the joys of raising a child. You have to be extremely extremely emotionally stable to raise a kid though. The highs are high, unlimited. The lows however, are very low. It rips you apart when your kid is laying in a hospital bed.
If you have the money to raise a child, I don't see how your social life is over either. My aunt and uncle just had their first baby a year ago, and they go out all the time. Not clubbing or anything, but they take her to restaurants, and they go to like "baby movie day" or something like that where people take their kids to a theater that's for like just a couple families and see new titles that are out. I think they saw Indiana Jones or something like this. You can still go to the beach, go to get food, and if you want to go someplace like a bar or a club...that's what babysitters are for.
I'm the exact opposite of Elphaba hehe, I can't wait until I can start my own family. Right now I'm pretty sure I only want one kid though, I think having two oneusually gets jealous and turns out to be a jerk. I lived in a family where I was always the second, which then became middle child, and I hated it.
However, back on topic I'm really looking forward to it, and I want to make sure that I have a good job and stuff before I do get married and have a kid, but I'm not scared of it at all. I can't wait until I can be a wife, and then hopefully someday a mommy, and that's just how different people are. I think Elphaba is an awesome girl, she's really smart and funny and stuff, and that's her decision and I think no wrong of her, or Fqhfsahdagdsdwds for his ideas either. I just think it's tough to make such a could-be life changing decision at a young age.
Cell phone conversations end at some point. The lady who drank too much was probably an unexpected outcome. A screaming child is infinitely louder and definitely something a parent should anticipate. And yes, FUCK those two new parents and their dining. Fuck them and expecting everyone around then to be understanding and accepting of their tantrum throwing kid. Family dining does not equate to Chuck E. Cheese, which is where I would expect to hear a bunch of screaming children, hence I do not go there. When you decide that your desire to eat out with the knowledge that there's a good chance your kid is going to start a screaming session, then how about you take your happy ass to a place that caters specifically to families with young children or babies. Either that or leave your kid with a babysitter, which is what a responsible parent would do in the first place.Originally Posted by Tyche
You act like kids cry for no reason at any given time. Your complete lack of knowledge is absolutely astounding. And no, a responsible parent doesn't dump their child off with a babysitter everytime they wish to go out into public. That's is about as irresponsible as a parent can be.
While were on the topic of going to restaurants that cater to children and babies, next time you walk into a steak house or olive garden (my baby adores calamari), have a look at all the high chairs. *GASP*
places that don't wouldn't let them in. you're going to the wrong places.Originally Posted by Fhqwghads
My father and mother had 3 children, after which my father got a vascetomy. A few years later, they divorced and he remarried. He recently had the costly operation to reverse his operation, because he and my step-mother decided that they may someday want children together.
I used to never want kids, until about a year or two ago when my decision on that completely changed. My advice is wait, at 19 you might think you do, but you certainly don't know everything about yourself.
Off topic, the other day I went to a family restaurant at an amusement park and some kid was yelling at the top of his lungs because he thought it was neat that it echoed. His mother apologized and tried to get him to quiet down, but soon all the children in the restaurant were screaming "ECHO!" I thought it was adorable, and said to my eating companion it was expected in a place like this.
I don't care what reason they have to cry. The point is they're annoying to the point I'd like to throw them through a window. Also, please don't type words I didn't type. I never said anything about parents getting a babysitter when they wish to go out in public. I specifically singled out restaurants. Lastly, just because a restaurant has high chairs doesn't mean a parent should bring their kids. The restaurant wants your money, if that means the employees and owners will put up with a screaming child to get it, they will. However, that doesn't mean the patrons want to hear it.Originally Posted by Tyche
I disagree. If I found myself surrounded by tables that had booster seats affixed to them, with child themes being prevalent, then yes I would agree I am going to the wrong places. The places I go to, child seating is optional and has to be asked for. For those of you with children, in my opinion that should be a sign that if you're too stupid to leave your kid in someone elses hands, then here's a backup plan if you insist on dragging them along.Originally Posted by layoneil
I will concede that parents with exceptionally well-behaved children are perfectly OK in my book to bring their kids with them wherever they want to. From what I have seen, this is an incredibly rare occurrence though.
Successful businesses have this great ability to be...what is it called...successful and efficient? If a majority of the patrons didn't want kids in their restaurants and complained enough about, then there wouldn't be kids and babies in these restaurants. This leads to me deduce, as well as the overwhelming "grow the fuck up" comments in this thread, that you are in the minority. Unfortunately for you, these large chain restaurants who actually make money (because we know most fail), cater to the masses, and not the irrational patrons.
From what you have seen, is most likely a placebo effect. I can pretty much assure you that I've been around ten times the children you will ever see in your lifetime. There's about 6 degrees/certifications hanging on my wall, 4 of which belong to my wife for various degrees and credentials in early childhood behavior and development, as well as certifications to run daycares (which she does). Generally, children are well behaved and a select few will have a condition that will put them in the "cry for no reason" category. This is not the majority of children. As I said, if a child is balling in a restaurant, the parents will almost always be able to cater to the child and keep them at bay. If this isn't the case, you likely have bad parenting.Originally Posted by Fhqwghads

I hate the fuking "parents" that let their kids act like wild animals while they dine w/o any worry in the world. I had a fuking couple do that to us. Their rabid children were playing and having the time of their lives next to us, while the fuking couple was like 3-4 tables away placidly dining. W/o hesitation, I approached the couple and told them kindly to take care of their goddamn children.
