Iphone 3g with GPS!

Even if you don't care for Internet, the 3G model is cheaper then the 2G model so I don't see why you would purchase an older model. Only reason I wouldn't recommend the 3G model would be if you were one of those ppl who needed to carry the phone by your side cause of business/work (since it does have reception issues over the 2G model)

The hacking isn't for your service, it's for the software.

There were two steps before, bypassing the lock on the phone when its not activated so you can access Safari, and then doing the actual jailbreaking once you got there. You can just skip the first step.

There are those who wished to activate the phone with a different carrier, and those who already had ATT and just wanted the extra features of the OS unlocked. Jailbreaking works for both, it just skips a step for those who already have it activated.

So like... im debating getting out of verizon (only cause I hate my phone, and dont want to spend 300-400 to get a new one mid-plan, the service is awesome) and getting an iphone... but the cheapest a month I think I'd be paying is like.... 80$ a month?

Is this phone really even worth it lol... I have a 8gb nano, guess I'd save a space in my pocket... but I don't even know if I'd use all the features...

As for different verizon phones, I personally use the LG VX 8700, great phone, has mini SD card slot, good battery life, and easily compatible with any LG bluetooth headset.

Another one I enjoyed using while borrowing from a friend was the Samsung SCH u740

Also, many of the blackberry phones verizon offers are great, along with the Palm Treo.

pretty much all verizon touch/mainstream data phones are shit, however, most people put up with the lack of selection for the fact that verizon works almost every where, and the phones are durable. I actually had someone that lost an enV2 off a horse trailer which fell on our property, lucky for them they were heading northbound from the horse clinic otherwise it woulda been toast.

Yeah the voyager and dare and really all of their phones that try to be iphones or data phones are pretty shitty. My friend has a treo and it sometimes randomly calls people and things without any buttons even being pressed, so I'm just not too interested in verizon phones.

Plus, to get out of my phone early, and transfer my plan to another phone, means I need to buy that new phone outright. Treo's, voyagers, they go for 300-400$ at least. Thought it would be a little better to just get an iphone for 200 and whatnot, since at&t actually has decent service in my area, but then again, it's like 80$ a month and I'm not sure how much of a discount I'd get for it from my job.

Hit up craigslist and pick up a blackberry or something. If you're looking for something like the iPhone, there is no substitute, and this is just from my experience with my iPod Touch. Personally, I'd wait out the plan, or see if a line on your plan is eligible for an "early upgrade, which basically just nets you a reduced cost phone, and you resign your contract for another two years. My father's been with them since they were PrimeCo, so that might only apply to customers in good standing for so long.

I had a middle aged lady walk into my store today and she leaned over to her friend and asked what the name of the song blaring on the radio station was. I told her I'd find out..pulled out my phone and she stopped me half way and told me not to bother calling someone and asking.

I laughed, opened up Shazam, held my phone up near the speakers and it tagged it (some obscure LeAnn Rimes song) she laughed and said "I seriously need that phone."

Best $212 I've ever spent.

Turn off 3G and Wifi while the phone will be inactive. You also might have not properly done a charge/discharge cycle. You need to drain your phone completely at least once a week, and then charge it to full. If not every time you use it to keep the health of the polymer battery good.

I don't think that has anything to do with what you said. If you're charging your phone overnight and it's not full the next day, something's wrong with the phone.

Just deplete the phone to empty. I mean, let the phone turn itself off it's so dead, then charge it. It will fix your problem. That shit used to happen to me on my Chocolate as well.

He said he charged it then went to bed. He probably had it slept instead of off, or did an improper charge. I see it all the time with people's macbooks/ipods/iphones since Apple uses polymer batteries, if you over charge or do the whole "quick" charge to full thing, it fucks with the battery life. Also the case of his phone not sleeping, and being stuck on a wifi/3g network overnight. Just covered the bases with the tech support =0

The latest 2.1 update for the Iphone 3g fixed so many of my issues. Before my phone would hang up on ppl endlessly, nice to have that fixed. I no longer want to go into the Apple store and throw my phone against an Apple employee's head for selling me a PoS lol
