Yup, once your current contract is over, you can sign a new 2-year contract and get the phone for the discount price. You can probably sign a new contract now if your current one is almost up, but I think that depends on the manager at the AT&T store.

U should check w/ AT&T because I think u can upgrade 1 & 1/2 years into ur contract. But u can also just add another line for an extra $10 per month & get the discount still... Then cancel the other one when it expires in a month or so.

There's no unlock for 3G.

AT&T's 3G and T-mobile's 3G are not compatible anyway (different frequencies? I think), so there's no point to unlock in the US.

Always buy at the apple store.

I was already an AT&T regular iphone user when I got my 3G so I don't know about whether you pay more, etc, but you will only pay the phone price at the apple store and they'll help you activate with AT&T.

I got one at bestbuy before returning it 2 days later. I got the larger one in white.

299 for phone, got a 20$ case. 342.38 total in store.

I got the cheapest rate plan since I don't talk on the phone much, unlimited text.

39.99 rate + 20 text +30 data, total per month would be 101.18, with first month being 170.50 with activation, and some extra random fees.

Hence why I canceled after 2 days.

I have the 39.99 rate + 5 text (200 msgs, not a heavy texter) + 30 data, and after taxes and stuff every month I only pay $70

Get it at the Apple store if you can. They will set you up and even give you a quick tour on how to use it. Much more than any other retailer.

You may also wanna buy another plastic cover as the one that comes with phone is a complete piece of shit.

I recommend InvisibleShield; I don't even use any casings, looks nifty and keeps your screen very safe. I only have the front casing as I have a gelaskin (these things are fucking awesome) on the back.

I pay $35 monthly because I did a family plan. Internet alone is $25; if you were to do a single plan I think it'd run you around $65? I don't have texting fwiw.

I have $300 towards walmart coming tuesday (club live, vista FTW!)

..... should I just wait, and purchase the phone on tuesday when I buy a case for it at walmart later on.... or will the phone be good for the 3 days without a case? (will pick up a screen protector @ store purchase at least)
