Go Apple! (And poor me because I'm going to have no free time from now until after xmas due to work.)
Hey, don't you work for Apple?

Can you get them to team up with DirecTV to write an app so I can get on an iphone (currently a Verizon user) and choose shows/movies to record remotely?

    Thank you.

    Re: Iphone 3g with GPS!

So... my contract is up with verizon on the 27th of this month, and the news from the iphone is quite appealing.

Now my question for you current AT&T users is, how much a month does a iphone plan cost? I've heard a iphone requires a seperate plan, but when I went to the AT&T site, they have none of that listed.

What I want to do, is my 2 younger sisters are on my verizon plan (1400 minutes, unlimited PDA Data = $198/month) Those 2 sisters, would also like a iphone......so if we were to have said 3 iphones on the same plan (family plan?) would I be going over $200/month?

i cant believe people still go for this scam

"hey guys i have an awesome iphone check it out!!!!"

"ok but can you make decent calls to anyone anywhere ever?"

    "well no i have AT&T..."

    "exactly my point"

    "BUT ITS AN AWESOME PHONE"

do not waste $200 on a phone when you could buy an ipod touch for nearly the same price and have the same functionality

AT&T is HORRIBLE service in all areas, boycott that fucking company

(oh and note i WORK at AT&T... now if my LG Voyager from verizon would get here...)

Expect for the fact that it can't make calls...?

I have ATT and never have problem with service with my iphone. On the other hand... ATT cable/internet service, now that sucks balls.

i can say with 100% certainty that you drop calls at random, on a common basis. where as if I ever drop a call, its completely due to location, and very very very rare

and actually... at&t internet is better than some cable providers... we dont have deep packet inspection, or bandwidth limits, in fact AT&T embraces Bittorrent [wired.com], not that i'd ever use their service still (it's still shitty) but its not the invasion of privacy that companies such as comcast have, thats the ONLY admirable thing I've seen from AT&T in the past 26 years

Been with at&t/cingular for about 6 years now. Only trouble I ever had with service was whenI got a new Blackberry. Sent the phone back, got new one, and everything was back to normal. Customer service is great, reception is great, cell service is great. I never have problems with dropped calls. The old blackberry had that problem (it was a power issue with the blackberry that caused it to shut off), but in 6 years I could count my dropped calls on one hand.

I've had that experience with verizon, but cingular's was totally the opposite, and you must be REALLY lucky with customer service, or the cingular side of things is completely different than mine

No i don't get dropped calls. Im sorry to shatter your hope of being right of ATT and their phone service.

And no, i don't like ATT. In face i fucking hate them and im switching services once my contract is up. Not due to having shitty phone service but they have horrible customer service and took over 7 months for them to get their shit together and fix the problems with my cable service and to return the boxes.

    Re: Iphone 3g with GPS!

I live in po-dunk USA. West Kentucky. I'll get on IRC on my blackberry and can stay logged in for however long without a random disconnect. All my family uses AT&T and I have 3 lines on my contract. My sister, my fiancee, and myself. Anytime I've had phone problems, I call them up and it's it gets fixed. If it's a phone issue, they have been more than happy to overnight me a new phone free of charge. Out of all the companies I work with, AT&T and Insight digital (my cable service) are easily the best and easiest companies to deal with. Maybe it's the fact that they bank around $200 a month off me, but I've always been able to get what I want with them.

Depends on area, for call coverage/dropped calls.

Hell, I have verizon right now.... and I cannot even make any phone calls from my house or work, because they will drop after dialing the number lol

You know what's funny? I live in Texas. I travel from downtown Houston a lot to the boondocks. And no matter where I go, except in one building downtown that's bombarded with signal, I get great service everywhere.

And if you knew so much about the ipod touch, you'd know you can't get internet everywhere. Only in wi-fi hot spots.

Wow talk about exaggeration... Can't make *decent* calls to anyone ever? Horrible service in *all* areas?

Call quality was a little worse compared to before I switched from T-mobile, but it's negligible to me and I never have dropped calls (compared to the rest of my family who has lolsprint, dropped calls left and right)

I'd wait to try out the 3G voice quality before saying whether it's better or worse now.

Wow, what's with the AT&T bashing in this thread? Just because some of you have had bad experiences with them, doesn't mean it's the same with someone else in a different part of the country. Sucks for me because I signed up with VZW like 4 months ago, but now planning to eat their ETF to go back to AT&T for the 3G iPhone.

Slingbox is adapting their player for the iPhone now. I heard they are demoing an early version at the WWDC now.

AT&T in some areas are the best in that area, especially since they finally are upgrading their cell towers for the first time since cell phones were as big as your head. In my area unfortunately, AT&T still sucks. Well, not totally sucks but they are definitely worse than when I was with Verizon. The occasional dropped calls and poor signal strength is only a minor inconvenience normally. If I had my choice I would definitely go back to Verizon in northern California. But my company pays my cell bill so I can't really complain too much. :D

As for 3G voice quality, one improvement is that we won't get a lot of that GSM network buzzing you hear when it comes close to other electronic devices like radios or speakers. From what I have been told anyway.

Only if the 3G iPhone doesn't fall back in poor conditions to EDGE for data transmission, which it will, depending on the service strength in your area.

(I'm trying to validate your claim on my own, but my phone is stuck in EDGE mode... oh wait, there we go, I didn't know that 3G devices didn't have that interference, cool o.O)

I have great cellphone and internet service from AT&T as well. I live in Dallas and travel out to very remote places for my job and I never have bad reception. I also can count the number of times I have had a dropped call on one hand, and they were always in the same area. It is the same with my internet service. Maybe once every 2-3 months I get a random disconnect.

I'm on Verizon, and if the iPhone was available to verizon users then I'd have had the first one off the shelf when it first came out.

This new price and such is VERY appealing, can you use AIM/MSN on the iPhone? Pretty sure you can get email, but these and text messaging are extremely important to me. If it can do those well, then my next phone will probably be an iPhone.

    This.

I'd probably be second in line.

That was my argument as well. I love Verizon and have had nothing but good things with them. That said, I really want this phone and will most likely cancel my Verizon contract and go with ATT.
