After literally having 14 people sign into IRC and all griping/lolling about the Overwhelm exception to Tier 2 merit increases as the first thing they say, I am pre-empting the same thing happening here. Discuss Overwhelm merits and whether it's fair or not here.

Or don't bother, this post was more for my own amusement anyway.

Personally, I think they did it because they did the math... if Overwhelm went to full 25%, then Rukenshin would win the game.

Seriously, I understand how it is overpowered, but isn't 2 min feint, 1:30 duration angon, 25% Desp Blow, and some aspect of other ability just as broken?

But, as long as the increase per merit is at least 2.5%, I'd still cap it first.

I swear, for all the shit Sam gets, its the last job that gets to bitch. Yeah Desperate Blows only helps the 1 person, but to compare Overwhelm to Feint and Angon is bullshit. Both of those help everyone fighting, not just 1 person's e-peen.

Even at the reduced effect for the cost, compare it to all of NIN's tier 2 merits. I bet Nin would trade every single tier 2 merit just for something like Overwhelm. I'm sure they'd even take a 2% increase per upgrade from the start and love it. I know I would.

i dont see how game breaking it is if i did 10% more dmg with it... thats what ... 200 more dmg on most mobs? >.> the 2hand update and then nerf was more of a buff... i'll bitch more if it takes 6 and 7 merits for each respective level
