to stay on topic, any mele would be a burden on mages due to AoE, and if they pulled hate and turned it towards mages, it would really ruin your day with cone AoE, assuming you didnt break horn yet.
I havent seen it break with SMN BP nor with RNG crits, but id say sam/thf or war/thf would probably produce some of the better crits, sam/rng i would wager wouldnt be too useful for this fight, especially if you are going the rng route, sam/rng cant stack the same str and ratk that rng can, and after bringing in as much racc as u need, it might not be worth it dmg wise, idk be worth a test i guess if anyone wanted to try it, but i still think RNG > SAM/RNG for this fight

Unless your rng is putting out an ass ton of damage, I would suggest stacking drks, sams and wars on it. We had a sch in DD pt keeping stoneskin up to eat AoEs and kicks. None of the DD's tp'd on it, but they got tp from the surrounding weaker mobs, then ran in and ws'd, rinse, repeat. Killed in under an hour after we really got started. Tp'ing on surrounding mobs isn't really a problem since most of the mobs around its pop spots are too weak or very easy mobs.

RNG DMG on Ixion is pretty good, constant 100+ per ratk, and 800-1k+ sidewinder, our first 2 kills were roughly 35min each, both had full rng pts with brd and whm, our third kill took a bit longer, but i attribute that to lack of rngs, since we had 2 afk at time of claim and showed 15min later.

and finding mobs to TP sucks even for SAM during meditate downtime ._.

we killed in 1.5 hrs today.........only DD was 1 THF 1 WAR 1 1 SAM 1 RNG ._.

You don't really "DoT" HNMs in that sense. If you put several DD/NINs on it you're just going to kill yourself and make your group look really dumb. @_@ Use safe DDs like SAM or RNG, SMN, BLU, even BLM although they're not very strong against Ixion.

I just spent half of the time going through the zone, picking up random low-level mobs for people to TP on, it was fun!

even BLM although they're not very strong against Ixion.

so very true. most dmg i did was a 330 Freeze 2 (ice day, hq staff, blm relic legs) otherwise casts ranged from 70s-170s. LS i was fighting with didn't SC so no chance for burst dmg.

after 3 fights, im pretty well convinced that sticking to rngs and smns is your best bet, but like he said, having someone go find tp mobs and running up to ws is your best bet with regular DD, shadows will not absorb any of the aoe, which is massive, it can kill fully buffed elvaan rngs (the cone AoE i mean), i ate a 1280 last night, i cant imagine a sam or drk would fair any better, but as with anything go with whats best for you.

All the running around and spazzing out doesn't really help much for lining up your shots, but BLU puts up some decent numbers on this thing. Most were hovering right around the 1000 damage mark, few higher, few lower.

Popped@G-7 in Jugner Forest today, definitely seems there are particular spawn points for every zone seeing how they are matching up.
