Maybe its based on moon or the time of day when you pop him or something I don't know, perhaps people could note the time/day/moon conditions when they pop him and post here :3

Lonnnng Kite Fight (Took 3hrs for us); DoT and run / Lightly Nuke; Crimson is probably required. While in BLM form, you can make a point to dispel his shock spikes as he will make it priority to recast them quickly (This helps avoid harder spells like Thundaga III).
Ground Burst can mess things up if you have people near him. It's radial around him so your tanks can out run it, but if you have melee on it he will use it regardless of tanks distance and they are going to get hit hard.
Once in whm form its a bit harder for melee's to get on him as he will mostly cast quicker spells, and remove poison and other DoT's, so keep reapplying them.
All in all, if you have a good kiter you can't lose, just be prepared to spend a long ass time if you are low manning it.
We had a fight where it ONLY used Leeching Current and Vile Belch. We really couldn't do anything to it because it would use Leeching Current to anyone in range and heal up 1k hp and it seemed to have instant TP on it.
We did 2 more fights a few days later where the only thing he used was gnash and deathgnash and he was a complete pushover. I don't get it /sigh
sounds like its controlled by day/night, day of the week or something like that. got any screenshots with clock in for the belch spam versions?
We got a Brass Borer stuck on cannonball spam from 85% -- 0% he did a few other TP moves once we started doing proper damage to it, but it was at least 20 minutes spamming cannonball while we were trying to recover.
NIN/WAR tank and the bitch decides to cannonball the RDM (me -,-) then I got R adn once i stood up he cannonball'd me again, and again ._.
We also got the LividRoot at 1% that refused to take damage, only died after we somehow made it get TP to use vampiricroot and it started taking damage again.
Thanks for the information about Redolant; I've been holding my pop item for him for a few days now (sincerely hope that he drops gloves when we do get around to killing him). Does anyone happen to know if he's stunnable or not? I'm not super keen on the idea of running him in circles for hours but we're a pretty melee-heavy group and I'm not really sure I can drag a bunch of BLMs out to him.
He can be stunned. Grav stops working after a while.
It is a fun ass fight tho, specially if you got happy blms. I never got tired of it lol.
We 2/2 on Naglering atm.

My blue line starts on the door for the Lamia Fang key, if you follow the route through the ship you find another door, going past it you make a shortcut and don't have to go all that way around, nothing fancy, but saves some minutes
Anyway about Nuhn itself, we were 8 today: RDM x2, BRD, PLD/NIN, TH4, BLMx3. Popped twice, killed in under 10 min. We didn't take it to zone or anything, just there in the same room where you pop it, you just have to kite it around the rocks, tho he hacks, and climbs them, but still np to kite. Got pumps and Fire Grip once, and Pumps on second kill.
any confirmation on this? smells like bullshit to me, but wiki has it listed as wellOriginally Posted by Aikar
Lol @ that puk. That was the gayest NM fight I've ever witnessed in my entire FFXI career. lol (Not to mention my pop was wasted, but w/e lol.)Originally Posted by Wizerd
Had similar horror story with Ob. Went with 6 one , died and could never recover or finish it. We ended up with -10k xp each. We did it again next day and no one got in yellow hp (except me who hit the ground at 1% after). Most of those NM have nasty ws, and going in with more than 1 melee is suicide
The best strategy for those ZNM imo is to have a pld (/war /rdm or /nin), 2 healers and a bunch of blm. Unless there is 1-2 imune magical ZNM, it work wonder every time.
The Puk was decently easy with about a pt worth of BLMs and SMNs for us. SMNs would BP and hold the puk a little way from zoneline, BLMs would Nuke/Zone. Sometimes we had a BST along too, BST pet doing the same as avatars, holding the NM a little off from zoneline so it doesn't kill the BLMs when they zone back out. We're only 2/15ish for the Garuda headband though... so we'll be fighting a whole bunch more of these puks...Originally Posted by Redness

On the topic of the puk, I'm the guy who soloed it when it first came out. Today, a friend and I had to burn some pops to get higher tier ones so we went RDM BRD NIN.. first fight took a bit under 10 minutes with no problems on thundersday, I used ice nukes. During the 2nd fight, it changed to lightsday and I continued to use dia 3 to speed up kill. The first time the NIN got hit, around 60%, it did 498 damage. I figured he just had berserk up or something, shrugged it off, kept fighting. Around 10% it did a wind shear for 1942 on the NIN and 2107 on the BRD then hit me for 695(melee, noncrit, through -31% phys damage from standing gear).. I killed it anyway, nothing seemed to have changed besides it's physical damage. However, during the fight where I soloed it, it would take 2 swings to break stoneskin. Is it possible that casts of the element matching day not only give it tp and heal it, but give it some sort of permanent attack buff that stacks?

I was under the impression its atk power goes up when its hp goes down. Always hit me for a fuck ton of dmg when it was about to die.
Need 3 shadow up all the time to survive the aoe.
Crimson not required, I found MNK to be the best damage, and PUP nukes with no hate are also great. Chi Blast is solid through this mob, despite the fact that it seems to eventually gain a pretty nasty resistence to nukes. It took ~1hr for us the second time, with MNK x2 Chi Blasting, PUP nuking w/o hate, myself on RDM for DOTs, BLU nuking when he could, and myself dual boxing my main on THF for a bit of hate control when someone other than a MNK got too much hate.Originally Posted by Sirrus
Crimson definitely not requierd, you just need to cut corners well. If not for the curing of itself, this thing would definitely be RDM soloable.
If this is the case, its attack power certainly doesn't reset when it regens to full, and only goes up (MORE) when its HP goes down again. It's fucking ridiculous, I was hit for ~800 on NIN from the thing when re-engaging once, from a fresh regen on it.Originally Posted by Kaylia
I definitely think that it does. I was fighting it with 6 a few days ago on Lightsday and we didn't last 2 minutes because dumbass me was hitting it with a Hauteclaire and Flashing it like a moron and so it TPed about every third second. I realized what was going on, switched to Joyeuse, but it had already gained so much attack power that Wind Shear was dealing over 1300 to me, a PLD with Defender, Protect V, Tacos, and full fucking /WAR gear.Originally Posted by Thorny
That actually does explain a lot now that I think about it. Enfeebles of the day don't cure it, but giving it that boost might make sense. I know Redness was casting Paralyze and I *think* it switched to Ice day for that fight...Originally Posted by Therin
I don't know about the belch spam, but our group got only Gnash and Deathgnash, and we popped it around 11-12 on Darksday. Killed it around 20ish on Darksday. I can't say anything about moon phase, but we might be able to lower it down if everyone takes note of the time/day when they pop him.Originally Posted by Capo
From the sound of it, he's only spamming vile belch against people kiting it, since he isn't able to get in range to use gnash.
