They said that the new relics would be more accessible than Dynamis ones, though. With what we know at the moment, they're really not. If new information becomes available that changes this, the QQing will probably lessen. Until then, I think we're pretty justified in being annoyed.

Trade the blank memoire to the Rune of Release which appears following successful completion of an Assault mission.
This will result in the relevant data being recorded to the pages within.
Completion of a memoire requires a player to clear all Assault missions spanning ranks Private Second Class to First Lieutenant in all relevant areas excepting Nyzul Isle, for which no memoire exists.
Loss or disposal of a memoire will result in the loss of any recorded data without the possibility of recovery.
Please exercise caution in this respect.
In the event of a lost memoire, the option to acquire a new one will appear on the NPC menu.

This is a very possible assumption I wouldn't down your idea just yet. It's safe to say having only one path would still take a considerable amount of time (earning ichor, redoing 50 assaults succesfully, buying alexandrite lol, obtaining the ??? book) still but not limit certain aspects of the game for you like doing assaults means no nyzul items for you and spending ichor on the eyepatch means no einherjar items for you. You could take an aspect of the game that you might be done with and make that your path. Would be much more reasonable.

At 5 per Salvage run and 1 Salvage run per day that's over 30 years of Salvage just to collect the Alexandrite.

Let me explain it for you. Not everyone is as "Good" as you, or as "Good" as the relic holders
in question you are talking about. You are absolutely right. 99.9% of the people who play this game will never see a stage 5 relic. You are RIGHT, there is alot of things like this that people will never see, and that they aren't fit to be a part of.You are right, it's NOT for everyone. But guess what, when SO many people "Q_Q" about shit being to hard, and no one is having fun, and 90% of the content released is for 1% of the FFXI community aside from "Exciting" things like chocobo racing. People get sick of not having fun, being challanged in resonable means, and feeling acomplished. Because they aren't in the uber linkshell they wish they were in, you know, the one who throws the things said people would love, and laughs about it.

No, and they never will be most likely, because they aren't perfect. They aren't
part of a tight nit group that started the game right after it came out and have been owning it since, they don't know the right people, have the right connections, or possibly just enjoy seeing daylight some times. Even end game people like alot of us who HAVE completed a stage 5 relic are getting sick of this shit taking so much time and effort. It's so funny how many people complete stage 5 relics then quit shortly after. Do you see a pattern there? Do you think maybe there's a reason for this? FFXI is no game though, fuck no, this shit is serious business. This shit is MEANT to be that hard, and "Isn't for everyone". (that argument makes me so sick btw. What kind of people is it for? I'm going to stop here before I use one of those overused responses that are completely true). Funny thing is, I've met plenty of people who are so dedicated to this game it's not funny, and they never get ahead in end-game.

In closing, if they want to have something that only 0.0001% of the community can fucking enjoy, then so be it, fine. The sad thing is we don't even know if there's a stage above this. Let's add some ultima/omega parts in there... *thinks* better kill hydra/khim/cerb and all nq and hq kings... (actually, why aren't those on the list?)... a full set of the sky pop NM weapons... Kill DL... Complete brygid quest using every type of subligar drop... a chocobo with every stat maxed... a mog bonanza marble with at least 3 of 5 numbers matching... and how about a Sin of Indignation to top it all off? ...Oh, and hit all ebon panels at the same time when you talk to rat after all other conditions are met.


...The 50k to hold us over thing is an interesting theory, since the WSes or weapons with any stats aren't even in the .dats yet. It could be a lesser number? Perhaps something happens when you finish the assault logs? Who knows. Something like 500 or even 5000? It'll certainly have to be some, or the currency wouldn't exist. Someone told me there is no 100 piece in the .dats, so yea i don't know. Give us a few merit areas of gears (or just ANY area with gears) and this could end up being possible I guess. Great, so this is either an unobtainable number, or something with a fix that'd be something endlessly RMT-abusable.


So much for more obtainable relics. Something that fills a gap between dynarelics and perdu/other endgame stuff, say. You'd think SE would want to mix things up a bit, whatnot with there only being 1 or 2 max 'acceptable' weapons for each job at 75. Oops.


What I was expecting for conditions was runic key, some misc questing, a few NM kills and some imp goldpieces... this might have been okay if it were captain + runic key + 1/3 first battle conditions... maybe + redo assaults... that's still a ton of work for even a moderately serious player but the average person could get it done with dedication. It's still free (like CP/IS/AN things or doing your own xNM), but it's more work than just meritting as well. Instead we have... this.

Good news is all of that new gear from the Pop NM's seems like it will be very accessible and allow the standard player to not be fucked over for once. If it turns out only one path is needed the relics could be accessible to all in a years time. crosses fingers.

I was looking through the dialogue dats, and i noticed the part about having you get the eye patch comes after all of the dialogue for the alexandrite/book/assault part. so its either another "stage" or has to do with something totally different...

speaking of that, i looked through the whitegate .dat and i cannot find Naja's opening cutscene text telling you to get all 4 chariots/odin/god kills... anyone else notice this? it could be encrypted differently inside the dat, but why is the nashmau one clearly readable? so many questions! if we can find this text, we can find the palace cutscene text i bet to find out the next step(s)

The text dat for whitegate is so enormous and bloated it's actually contained in 2 files. I don't think polutils can access both, at least it couldn't last i remember.

correct me if im wrong and/or retarded, but there are 4 things. The eyepatch, the book, the alexandrite, and the assault memoires. In the box menu, i had to select through 4 things to get information on. Needing only 3 doesn't make much sense to me ><

Bravo, SE. Not only do you have to get a specific weapon to drop but now you have to wipe your progress to go further, denying others the chance for weapons and lvl 100 items. And you also have to possibly redo every assault AND get 100k therion ichors.

This is really incredible....

I think everyone knew SE was going to make it as tedious as fuck to get those nyzul weapons upgraded and not just allow people to have them quickly. This is SE, they are quite good at gimmicks and making things they want to keep rare tedious, you should know this by now.

Ohh the Irony.

I do apologize if I came across wrong but I wasn't attacking you, and I have nothing against you personally. I was attacking your attitude, and the attitudes most people have with these types of arguments, who also tend to use phrases like QQ and "Cry Moar" every time some one has a complaint. Also, people don't need to acomplish EVERYTHING in the game, and if there are some things like this for some people, even though it makes no since, if it is their wish than so be it, but that wasn't the point I was making. And yes, many people as I stated are completely dedicated to this game, and still find themself running around in circles only wishing. And yes, I know that was SE's intention, on a business stand point they implement these things to try to get people to play longer, and have something to shoot for. What they don't understand is when those demands are to high and they aren't adding enough content to compensate for keeping people on the game in the "long run" they get frustrated and eventually quit do to the frustration and feeling like everything is close to impossible.

It's done based on business practices they seem to not properly understand. Which is why games like L2, WoW, EQ, have 10-15-20 million subscribers, and FFXI has 500k and droping. And no, this isn't a "FFXI is dying post". I think in the long run SE will hopefully make the correct decisions. Also it is very possible that these weapons might only require one, or two, or three "paths" as many people are saying right now to be completed. I was addressing a mentality more so. Again, nothing personal against you.

Out of what we know so far, the Alexandrite isn't what upsets me the most. It's trying to keep a nyzul static together while everyone gets their discs and weapons and no one is left out in the cold with months and months of work lost (which can happen anyways.) And if you don't want to keep farming floor 100 you can count it as 240 days to get everyone to 200 once and get their choice weapon 100%. That's if you don't fail once. I'd say it would take close to a year to realistically do all that. Then you have to get to Captain rank (which I myself am already at) and then redo all those again. Not a big deal, but more time. Another thing is how each one of these events cock blocks the other so you can't do them simontainiously, which still, I could stomach if not having to turn in your floor 100 disc.
