Also, lol @ the Usukane as a sidegrade guy.

Personally I think the new optimal set is pretty much the optimal set from before Usukane was introduced, just replace Togi with Hachiryu.

Indeed, but there are still many situations where you would TP in full Usu for the defensive bonuses.

Asuran fist can't crit but I'll still use hachiryu for WS because I rather have ACC/ATK+20 thann STR+8.

edit: full usukane is still better for TP and tanking.

The difference there wont be huge. Full usu vs. regular top end non-usu mnk setup with haramaki instead of shura is a difference of ~15 acc vs 27Att and Crit hit +5%. Both would have capped haste too.

walahra, bb and haidate is 22% haste, i can't think of any more haste pieces (fuma isn't a choice). Full usukane is 13% plus bb for a 25% haste. That 3% is pretty big improvement.

That 3% is a pretty big improvement but fuma isn't an option makes a ton of sense too.

Re: Footwork - New MNK JA info

Fuma means a loss of 7 acc 7 att 7 stp, gnar.

    turban/hachi.togi/bando/haidate/fuma:
    13 haste
    42 att
    20 acc
    15 dex
    5% crit rate

    usukane head/body/hands/legs/feet
    13 haste
    16 STR
    13 DEX
    36 acc
    17 att
    13 stp

    Net difference:
    Usukane: 16 str, 15 acc, 13 stp
    Mix-match: 25 att, 5% crit

I'd take 16 str over 25 att, and 15 acc (7% increased hit rate) will always outdo 5% crit when pDIF > 1

Idk what your hitting that I don't, but I've never needed more STR than ATK, or that much more ACC since aquiring a faith torque...
I did say the Usukane boots and pants were worth the effort, so gtfo off, and I can be "off my rocker" when I say it to all of you, it's simply the way I feel.

Doing salvage for a year+ to get the drops, then forking over the 9-10ish million to finish it all, isn't worth it when I've already sunk as much time and effort into acquiring shura/skyequip/BB. Full Usukane for the haste bonus when you can get 25% out of 4 slots (something no other job can do) seemed like a side-grade to me, and all that evasion and enmity made it appear to me as NIN equipment, not MNK.
While Usu's defensive bonuses would be nice for soloing, I don't have a problem wrangling some magey types to keep me swinging, so it was never much of a chase for me.
Hachiryu seems to be much more MNK intended, and about a billion fucking times easier, cheaper and more interesting to obtain than running around in salvage with negative stats, punching things that would never even scratch us outside, and staring at naked Galkas. O ya, did I mention it's gay when mages dont have magic? Ya.... ya'll can keep salvage, I'll stick to things that interest me.

lol @ hachiryu body being "a billion times easier than salvage"

Or cheaper for that matter, we all know the first few hachiryu haramaki can be used to easily buy enough ingots for 2-3 body pieces at the very least.

Ya don't "have" to buy them or be the first person with them either. Why would you buy (with gil) something you can get for taking pictures for a few days, and spending some of the retarded amounts of IS points we all have from capping merits, then having to cap them again?

I'd say the ZNM system is alot more fun/accessable to people than a "good" salvage group is.

Good night fuckers, I'm going home to wait and see if that LS from levi wipes to Pandemonium.

Just to add a bit of formula fun!

EVERY melee needs a certain amount of Str in their TP build.

    Why?

You don't want to reduce the damage on your weapon if you can avoid it, right?

If your Str isn't higher than the targets Vit, you're swinging a weapon -1, or worse!

Str isn't > everything, but it is > a lot of things.

If you aren't sacrificing a ton of attack to pick up a good amount of Str, and you're eating attack food anyway, a decent amount of Str gear is good, especially for jobs like Nin and Thf and Mnk with their lower base damage weapons and thus lower fStr caps.

lol salvage fucking easy now, you'd get a piece completed faster than waiting for gay T5 item to drop from T4 mobs

But using usu feet over fumas or dune boots makes the difference:

Full usu: 16 str, 7 acc, 6 stp, 1% haste
    Mix-match: 32 att, 5% crit

Now does 16 str over 32 att isn't as clear cut, I would imagine, and 7 acc won't always outdo crit 5% will it?

Seems to me like that might be the best way to go now.

16 str vs 32 att is a closer comparison, I'd say on that score they're pretty much equal.

However, 8 acc will usually outdo 5% crit. You can think of 5% crit as an extra 1.0 pDIF 5% of the time.

So, for example, if your average pDIF is 1.5 then it gives you the extra damage of 66% of a punch, 5% of the time.
8 acc is an extra 1 full hit 4% of the time plus TP.

And of course, 1% haste will actually be closer to a 2% increase in attack speed due to the nature of the haste calculation.
