Sandworm Totally Swallows - Pics Inside!

So what was the basic strategy? Kite it throwing nukes at it, when the Doomshield (this is what I'm calling it now) goes up throw a tiny nuke at it and continue? Once you guys got started killing it, how long did it take you to get it to 2%? From 35 minutes - 1 hour, I'm guessing, so 24 minutes or so?

Ya you summed it up pretty much. I was testing the small nukes, I'd say ok and everyone would use 2 nukes.

Took 24 mins cuz we were cautious with the healing. If we'd been more aggressive at the start might've managed it >_<

Is there some reason not to use melees? I'd think a fast attacking melee would be good for this; a random dagger hit or something would likely happen to kill the shield, wouldn't it?

Well we originally had in mind that we'd be getting King Arthro. So we brought skillchain melees and mostly MB BLMs.

And one of our melees got stuck outside too. And also he had physical healing too. It was random between elementals and physical. A random hit killing shield isn't good because the melee hits were massive heals also.

At this point my best guess is once he does the "Doomshield" he gets healed by whatever for a very short period of time. And its a massive heal. I say short period because when my Aero1 healed it, I did a second one and it worked. But in the last pic you can see 2 people nuked it at once and both healed.


Also giant heals seem to generate giant enmity. Everytime near the beginning a blm would heal it, they'd die.

Side note since we just experienced it, don't hold Sandworm for over an hour and a half. It rages. :[

After holding it for 1h 30mins he hit our tank for 600 DMG and mages for 900 w/ stoneskin@_@

actually untrue, I caught the THFs healing twice or so and it was about normal melee damage. 20-30hp heals.

Of course, WS would be massive.

Somewhat confused about the shield. Is it like JoL where when he puts it up he heals from a certain type (you said elemental or physical) until the next time he uses it, switching the element or damage type it absorbs? Or is it more as the screenshot and commentary would suggest that when he puts it up the very next attack--regardless of type--will heal it for a magnified (looks like 25x) value, and then will be off for any subsequent attacks of any type for the next 1-2 min until he uses it again?

we just timed out at 3% on this thing. Healed it for 40k before we figured out a strategy. Have blm heal until draw in. Wait till tank hits, then blm tornado and aero4, then rest again till next draw in. Repeat. This ensures your blm won't nuke right before draw in and heal the worm for 10k hp >< Worked really well once we figured it out, only downside was blm were getting massive hate by the end.

Has anyone tried attacking with something water-based immediately after the draw in to possibly negate the absorbshield thing? Just a suggestion considering thats how the actual Lambton worm of legend was 'defeated'

my guess with Lambton Worm's BC occurance is its a "HQ" version of the sandworm BCs that can occur in any of the regions... ruhotz/ghoyu/everbloom...
maybe a % thing or based on number of days since it last spawned in BC (which technically noone can rightfully tell unless they were the ones who got it every single time Sandworm appeared..?

At first i thought it was the next hit as well. But the pic shows 2 people healing it. One with Aero and one with Aero IV. I think its a shield on a very short timer. If you wait a little bit after the swallow effect (yess it looks like the worm swallows a whole lot of plasma or something) than you should be ok. I would test with an Aero regardless though

Insane to tank, spammed all TP moves. Barely had any buffs during whole fight and timers was reset before I could use them most of the time. Hit for 200~250 on me w/o any food as PLD

At least it sounds like a bunch of LSs are getting lucky today with Lambton deciding to pop. Grats on the drops!

Hopefully all the LSs who timed out at 2-3% can get tomorrow's Lambton and finish the job.
