Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

I had a surprisngly hard time with the fight. I went as RDM/NIN and my NPC was the same RDM/NIN. (A SMN in my LS had her NPC show up as BST.) I just barely won at the end (thankfully they give up at 10%). I was down to a couple seconds left on the clock and 93 HP on me with neither uts timer cooled.

NPC used tier three elemental spells (Fire III), kept his shadows up, kept me debuffed, and other annoying things.

    Fellowpoints are retroactive!
Only sort of. My NPC was at max level before today, and I have 0 (zero!) points. ><

Edit: Having heard the fight was easy (my SMN friend took only 80 damage total), I hadn't brought food or reraise, plus my 2 hour was not cooled, and I had used convert right before going in so hadn't had that either. I ran out of MP midfight, which was bad bad bad.

I'm still amazed that almost everyone was polite enough to wait in lines. And huh, those were taken on 7/24/05, so NPCs are nearly three years old now.

So how do you get your npc into the past?

Also no points for that BC fight. :/

if you go to the Sauromugue Champaign (S) maw and use it, you get a cs that unlocks your npc to let you use them in the past.

Actually though, looking at the screenshots I did a lot less damage with eclipse bite than I remembered. I did a 374, 376, and a 394 all with sacrifice torque on. I usually do that kind of damage on T's with eclipse bite if I remember right. I barely touch SMN any more.

Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

Blargh, I'm THF/NIN, I tried the fight twice, both times my NPC was RDM/NIN.
Chainspelled me dead both times. I used my 2h first run, so it can 2h regardless of your status.

I'll try changing my NPC from soothing healer to something else and try later. No Sneak Attack to the face anymore though =\

Decrepit Gnoles in Jugner [S] seem to give ~400 points per kill.

Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

As puppetmaster, I got a Beastmaster version of my NPC wielding a freakin Algol. Her and crabshaw were hitting me of around 50-90 damage and critting for twice that. Her spinning slash did 582 points of damage to me. I ate Carbonara and went as PUP/DNC and overall the fight wasn't too hard. Though, if I did it all over again I'd probably just sleep some TP and have the black mage puppet nuke her to death while I heal myself. Either way, I didn't use any meds and even forgot to bring an Icarus wing with me, but the fight was pretty easy. Between Cure V and Curing Waltz, I was never in any serious danger. She seems to have a really long weapon delay but her accuracy is off the chain. She was casting Banish and Protect so I'm Assuming she was a um PLD/BST? LOL Or maybe a BST/WHM that can equip Algol.

Have fun. And if you are a PUP/DNC, I'd probably suggest just plain Stormwaker. If I had to pinpoint her difficulty, I'd say she's about as difficult as Maat. In fact, except for the wierd mix of her job, she's almost identical in difficulty. Now that I think about it, it felt like fighting Beastmaster Maat with a twist. Maybe I should have worn Maat's Cap. . .

Is your NPC Soothing Healer too. Wondering if that has an effect.

Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

Oh I just checked to see if my NPC 2 houred during the fight so I could see what job she was. She used Familiar lol. So, from my understanding she was a Beastmaster/Paladin that could equip an Algol, cast Banish 2, Protect 2, and Flash and was able to use every Great Sword WS except for the LV71 trials WS. (Well if she could use it, she didn't)

My question is: Does the job the NPC shows up as depend on any factors such as your job or what you have her set at, etc.

Perhaps we should ammend the first post in the thread with our discovery?

    Me: PUP75/DNC37
NPC Set to: LV65 Southing Healer
NPC in Battle: Beastmaster wielding Algol. Pet crab named Crabshaw (Hits for 100-140 regular attacks). Able to cast Banish II, Protect II, Cure III, Shell, and Flash. Able to use Power Slash, Hard Slash, Spinning Slash, Freezebite. Her most powerful attack was 582 Spinning Slash. Her weakest was Freezebite for 68.

Maybe it depends on the personality type. Mine was soothing healer but is the super cute one and was pld/nin.

Not sure if anyone have said this but the fellows can use Blessed Radiance. On my first battle, as a MNK/DNC, my npc did Blessed Radiance for 963 damage.
And I don't think it matters what you set your npc as, it will just adapt to your job. When I did it on SMN she had a crab but when I went back to fight her on MNK she was a PLD again.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does this mean exactly? I was thinking it meant you could changed what your Fellow looks like, without losing all the progress you've made with it, because of the way it's worded. Do I need to learn2read? If so, can someone please explain to me what the notes are actually saying? Thanks.

I still dont know what "new personalities" are but i'm not about to throw away my pearl to find out.
went in pld/whm no buffs. fight lasted probably 6 minutes. i never got below 1000 hp. maybe cured myself once.

I did notice the npc was talking different in one CS so i am 'interested' in these new personalities.

also, when you summon your npc in town and check the battle menu, they ask if they can use aoe WS. I hadn't seen that before.

lastly, i took my npc to cassie and i was on brd. i noticed my songs were hitting my npc as well as the pt. fk pwn awesome.

Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

Did this very late (early?) last night. Was a very easy fight for me. I was bst/nin and so was Yoli. I was untouched and CC only lost 1/2 life with no rewards used. 2:38 fight

From what I'm seeing from other reports, pet job = NPC bst which makes for an easy fight. No chainspells and all that junk. So break out those bst's, smn's, pup's, (drg's?).

Also, after I was done and warped back to Bastok, I went to change her style back to Fierce Attacker as I'd set it to Healer just in case, and the Rpoint in port didn't pop for me. It was very late and I was tired so I logged, but can anyone confirm that Rpoints are gone except Jeuno now? Sure hope not...

I went THF/NIN, got owned the first time when shadows were down and took a 1k DE to the face. NPC is lv62 soothing healer, she used dagger and was RDM/NIN. At about 50% she used CS and proceeded to nuke me down with tier3's, lived with about 60HP.
And no idea with the points, I only have 2k. :/

Re: NPC WOTG Access, Limit Break and new "Fellow Point" system

I went to the BC last night on blm/whm (rdm npc) and got owned badly on my first try. It was sorta humiliating since none of the jp doing that bc died, and they all had pretty shitty gear compared to mine.

    First attempt:
I spammed nuke to get her as long as I can. Manafont + mana pool got her down to 50% (200dmg per nuke), at which point, she chainspelled blizzard and aero for 300dmg per nuke.

    Second sttemptt:
The next try, I went in with rr and buffed myself this time. I tried killing her with dot, since I didnt have the manapool to nuke her. bio/elemental dot/poison and drain killed her in 6minutes. I might have nuked once early, but no point since it's not mp efficient.

-rdm npc never melee and is immune to bind/sleep
-You don't lose xp in the bc (can zombie her with bio)
    - Npc has ~2k hp and need to be brought down to 20%
    - Resist to nuke really bad, and hit too hard to melee on something else than /nin (150-200dmg per hit with dagger)
