Just went back and forth through Sauromogue Champaign maw, no cutscene, tried to use pearl in the past, no go.

Interesting. What level is your Fellow, and what is your Familiarity level? (There are details here.)Originally Posted by Alistaire
I would guess that it requires a certain amount of bond between you and your NPC. This is an interesting development.
I guess there is a strong possibility that there is a quest/Familiarity requirement to get Ajahkeem to speak to you as well.
Max by far in all that. Did this after completing the fight vs my npc to unlock lvl 66+. I did only have about 3.5k fellowship points though, there was a mention that those points would only be counted after a certain update and I had my npc well on the way to 65 before that.Originally Posted by Septimus
Edit: Gonna run back and forth through the other maws near Jeuno, maybe it has to be the one you went through first? I think that was Rolanberry for me.
Nope, my first maw was batallia, SC maw got my NPC cleared.
Also had 11k fellow points at the time.
Did you have your signal pearl on you when you went through? Not sure if thats a requirement, but ever since there were some quests that required it I made sure to have it on me when I went through the maw.
Edit: Also, anyone have any good reccommended camps to level 66-70? Got 66 camping Ixtab for that Dale quest, but looking for better exp.
I forgot my signal pearl, and both of my characters went into different maws. (Both went into Rolanberry Fields [S]- Septimus did come out of Sauromugue Champaign [S], Atum wound up in Batallia Downs [S].)Originally Posted by Mertron
As for camps, Processionaires lowest level is 72 meaning capped XP until 62, Steelshells lowest level is 73 meaning capped XP until 63.
The higher Gobs and Catoblepas in Bibiki Bay will give you capped XP all the way to 70, but you will need a few people for that.
The Greater Manticores in Cape Teriggan will also give you capped XP, but Riddle sucks ass for mages.
Ovinniks (yuck Roar) and Greater Cockatrices (yuck Baleful Gaze) in Kuftal Tunnel will give capped XP as well.
Basically, if you want capped XP at a decent rate, you are going to need more people to help. (I am not looking forward to that myself.)
I tought about why I had a shitload of points.
Then I remebered I exped on NPC on high monsters. T stuff in Uleguerand and after that some VTs and ITs even lol
Also made maybe 2 merits of Boyada Gobbue.
I went back, and got the CS this time. Only thing I'd done between attempts was went to Promy to take my npc out and gain the 1 xp to hit 66 rather than use a charge for that. Though I ended up with a link while fighting the tougher mob on first level trying to position myself for Soultrapper shots, and died after only a few mobs.
So maybe having the tactics pearl quest active pre-temp key item but not attempted messed with it? Only thing I can think of.
My fight was one of the funner ones I've had on mnk in a long time...
Went as MNK/PLD and didn't underestimate the fight since I lost the 50cap one with my npc the first attempt. Brought reraise, rabbit pie, and my evasion set.
My NPC looked like a PLD with sword/board ... I used sentinel, flash, then 100 fists... Asuran right at 100tp took her down to almost 20%, then came the surprise! She used invincible, then I think it was Blessed Radiance which, instead of curing, did 963 damage to me, followed by vorpal blade for 384dmg. I got a couple Cure III's in and she cast DoT's and enfeebles on me while waited out invincible ... she conceded moments after invincible with me under 200hp.
If I did it again, I think I'd let 100 fists take her down a bit more before using TP since more than 1/2 of it was eaten by invicible.
Just as a note there is an additional "Increase Maximum Active Time" after you get the first. This one costs 50k. I'm up to around 25k or so, maybe I'll get it later this week. I have no clue how much the first time extend is worth becuase I don't want to summon my NPC just to wait for him to time out.
Blessed Radiance has always been a simple badass damage ws, it has never cured.Originally Posted by a351must2
I don't know, but I had my tactics pearl quest active pre-key item when I got the CS @ Sauromugue Maw. I can't really remember if I attempted it in between accepting it and this patch though because it was such a long time ago..Originally Posted by Alistaire
It'd be too weird of a limitation anyhow, and with nobody else reporting this problem, we'll leave it at "if this happens to you here's what worked for the only other person to have that happen."Originally Posted by Rocl

Interesting side note for gaining Fellow Points.
Last night, Team Galka and I went to the Boyahada Tree to beat up on some high-level Clawrars. I used two tactics pearl charges for a total of 60 mobs, and since all of them are 72 or higher and both of my fellows have the same XP (capped from before the update) they got the same amount of XP. When I checked my fellow points, I found that Septimus received 9356 FP with Zoldif, but Atum received 9580 FP with Zayag.
Rocl and I discussed it on Vent, we determined that the only difference was that I was casting Barspells, regens, and cures on Atum to save Septimus's MP for tanking. I will conduct some more thorough testing later (maybe tonight) computing XP per kill, spells cast, HP cured, etc to see if there is more to this.

she was pld/blm.
after i got enough tp for drain samba II. i just kept pounding away. when she went invincible i used formless strikes. Never used a ws or 2hr and won easily. i figured she might use blessed radiance about 15% but she never did. Funny thing is i felt bad for her.
[spoiler:av6xommr]Hey where's my cut of the 15 million gil.[/spoiler:av6xommr]
I went SMN/NIN and got the Algol-wielding BST NPC. It was double ice weather, so I took advantage of elemental siphon and my horn and used an ice spirit to open. I put the spirit on the NPC, and took his crab away to solo with my staff. I killed the crab shortly before my ice spirit died, so I summoned Carby this time and put him on the NPC so I could Meteorite and establish hate. Then Carby and I just whacked away at him until he gave up. I had to turn my back a couple times to make sure Carby kept hate, though, and used Healing Ruby II a time or two.
Hrm... good suggestion for my blu/nin. However I'd be more worried about an unlucky boom killing my npc and not me.Originally Posted by Plow

Did this as BST/DNC with nothing more than CCs and zetas. Don't use maat strat on it, failed on that lol. Just ended up having pet tank both its crab and npc using snarl, and managed to do ok. Altough being taru I was always close to death. Sleeping TP would be a smart idea, but I'm far to stubborn for that lol.
I went in as SAM/DNC facing the NIN/PLD? NPC (Nanako) and was pwnt the first time. 4-shadow ichi does not make Meikyo Shisui look spectacular with a GKT. So I went in after 2-hour was up, this time with my Engetsuto. Didn't make it to the 5th Penta before she gave up.
Mine is 61, and when I talked to the bard, I had just short of 20k points. I've been leveling new jobs, so I took her out and chained Toughs at levels 5-9, so maybe that'll score me some points.
