This reminds me of when I got my Carbuncle ruby. Just held onto it and voila 2 months later I could unlock the job. Grab it and eventually in 2 years or so you will get the reward. What a let down quest :/

This kinda seems like fun, though I'm torn between doing it now and possibly being disappointed by the reward and waiting until the NMs are possibly overcamped due to an unexpectedly awesome reward once we find out what it is.

This is GUARANTEED part of a series of quests... everything (or nearly) you can do solo. The next quest will be shit in Den/Ugga/LoO/Ifrits/Movap. After that, Kuftal/Castle Zvahl, etcetc. Just do it... the end reward may be pretty awesome.
