This is GUARANTEED part of a series of quests... everything (or nearly) you can do solo. The next quest will be shit in Den/Ugga/LoO/Ifrits/Movap. After that, Kuftal/Castle Zvahl, etcetc. Just do it... the end reward may be pretty awesome.

Well I can tell you with absolute certainty, that Zoning/Game day, and retalking to the taru has no effect on his dialoge, also tried windurst like someone suggested, same dialoge from her~ Ill try again after JP midnight but I doubt it will change anything, So maybe future addition!

Considering 1. they don't give titles and 2. you're given a key item to track your progress I'm guessing you need to kill them all after accepting the quest.

This seems like some "Tour of Vanadiel NMs' quest meant to rejuvenate interest in old content NMs.. good effort i guess.. 50k is nothing, but if they make it a prerequisite for a quest that does give a good reward, you're gonna see people chasing after this mobs like that matter lol

The magical dolls are also used in the Windurst story missions.

So far I've had some fun on this quest (except for toby and fucking buburimboo...). Also kinda cool to just invite the people you are camping "against" since it doesn't matter if you are in a party.
Not looking forward to Ixtab though...used to camp that shit like 3 years ago

Took 8 hours for me and my partner to get sharp-earred, and that was with only us there trying for it. :/

Ixtab was up unclaimed when I zoned into Upper, no drop of course.

fail -.- i went to camp sharp-earred and he was up when i got there. camped Ixtab for 4 hours with no pop -.- im at 10/16 I still need gargantua, shadow eye, ixtab, and the borals. Ixtab is proving to be the most anoying atm.
