The problem is you were asking about OUR tastes and what WE think, meaning you wanted someone else to figure it out for you. The reason you should figure it out on your own is because other people's opinions will turn you away from your natural reaction. For example, the post above me is abjectly negative, so you're going to be dissuaded from even giving it a try.

Do all of them, see if you like it, and grow a pair. We're not here to hold your hand through shit you've had months to try.

You know, you could have just said something along the lines of "I enjoy Deep Cover III (B) since it is relatively quick, and raises my nation's Reconnaissance level." But fortunately you took the douchbag internet-troll route. Bravo sir, bravo! Thank you for making the BG forums just a little less pleasant.

I wouldn't call Ops boring, but not extremely exciting either. Then again, a lot of people find everything in this game boring and fun is equal to how much reward you get out of it and chatrooms. Ops tend to vary enough that you'd try a few and some others are so simple you do them just playing(doing campaign battle, looking around the city). Some of them might seem too hard do to without prior knowledge or a website up...

While I could have told him the Steel Resolve series has a nice mix of challenge and practicality, I always thought the point of BG was to tell people what they needed to hear to play the game better, not feed them exactly what they want.

This update was 99% made of awesome but this little change really sucks for lowbie jobs. If they wanted to add a penalty they could had just cut the AN and I wouldn't care.

    Stop being a bitch.

But then I guess that wouldn't solve any problems would it? I think they had the right idea, but poor execution. If you are using 4 stars then average should probably be 2("half" potential). Oh and maybe increase exp reward for fights like Delta or have annoying 3-man requirements. Getting less than a 750 exp, let alone 500, for an instanced fight is just silly. That's 3-4 monsters.

The AN bonus/penalty system they added makes sense... It's just a bummer after getting used to it pre-patch.

I've been doing fine with my Steel Resolves since they've been at 3~5 stars consistantly, I guess people on my server either suck at it or just dislike it. ~1200 Allied Notes for a 5-star Steel Resolve III win... omnomnom.

Oh, duh, there are five stars? Hmmm, I haven't seen any go up to five.

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

Then why don't you do something about it other than clog of the topic?

Surprisingly, Steel Resolve is at 2 Stars, so I guess people actually do it on my server. Weird thing is I don't see how it could be needed less with all of our Forts taking an ungodly beating except for North Gusta. I noticed that most of the Ops are now 2 starts or lower with the Vangaurd X being the only 3 and the BCs being the only 5. It HAS been nearly a full week, so it might change after the retally, but I had hoped the Star ranking would only be based on the nation's need, not how much it had been done.

This is FFXI, you actually expected something to work under logic?

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

I expect everything to work under logic, that's why I'm a prepetually whining douchebag. I'm also a selfish one, considering I'm partially complaining because the one I do most is affected. %D

I suppose my point is I actually have a complaint now, though I still like the new system on the whole.

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

FYI, the exp/AN adjustment isn't clearly defined by the numbers of stars.

whoever came up with that 3stars =100%, ect thing wasn't fully accurate.

I just did Steel Resolve III 4 times in a row. Attempt 1,2,3 were with 3 stars; Attempt #4 was with 2 stars.

    Attempt1: 266/817 (***)
    Attempt2: 260/799 (***)
    Attempt3: 257/791 (***)
    Attempt4: 252/774 (**)

it definetly flucuates during the same star ranking.

Also, for people having trouble with Steel Resolve... The menu delay has always been like this, each time you make a wrong decision, the delay gets longer, which pretty much forces you to lose. The trick that usually messed people up is the beginning when they put too many to possibly check at the same time. At the start, pick only 1 person and choose their crystal, and let the others leave, and just focus on the rest that come. You'll win np.

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

I'm basically in agreement with the opinion that it was a necessary adjustment but kinda poor execution. The real charm in the Ops for me was being able to do them on a whim in a few minutes, if waiting for something or not quite ready to log out. I don't mind if the really easy ones like Streetsweeper stay one star, but on Unicorn right now the only ones above 1 star in basty are group ones. needing to get even a few people together for something like this kinda killed the mood for me, I'm quite sure I'm just going to end up just doing the same ones (for less exp, yay) or doing campaign battle 99% of the time unless I happen to catch a solo one above one star.

Are you taking into consideration that you're scored on your performance of the operation, and that it's not just a pass/fail?

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

Before SR 2 & 3 unlocked, I did a few 1s and noticed my reward went down slightly (1 exp) with exactly the same level of performance. I'm sure it's just another part of the new system meant to discourage spamming one Op.

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

Makes sense the ones the country needs most give more XP/AN than ones that people spam.
Did a Crimson Dynamo III(****) a few minutes ago, got 369 EXP and 1107 AN.

    Re: Campaign OP Adjustments

    Dear Square:

Please revert campaign back to what it was before patch. Beastman rape almost every zone now, and it looks like tomorrow we'll be getting city attacks in every zone, and getting exp off fortifications is near impossible. Now I'm sure you didn't intend for people to spam fortification for exp but nobody cares what was intended because that was the best way to get exp without dealing with idiots. Also apparently it sucks for lower levels now. Well that's great that you're excluding lower levels, but that's one of the reasons it was so popular. By doing that and making the beastman harder you completely shifted the tide and we're all fucked. Instead of penalizing people for doing low demand + popular Campaign Ops, just make the reward for high demand Ops more then 50%. Reward people for doing whats needed instead of penalizing people for what they can do on their own. People do things because it benefits them, and the reason that goes away nobody cares anymore.

    I hope you're reading this,
    Kuno
