How to download patch if your POL crashes

POL had been crashing for me every time it started to check files. Disabled my antivirus (AVG) and it worked on the first try.

Possibly related, I've recently been getting a weird error when booting POL where it won't load and then tells me I need to launch it from an account that has administrator rights. This has never happened more than twice in a row. It kinda scared me because that sounds like hacking b.s. but so far my account has remained un-compromised, plus I'm poor as shit so anyone jacking my account would have to be pretty desperate. Oooh, four HQ staves, what a haul.

god, on the times I do manage to get past checking (which is where it always crashes) I just get POL Error 1161, network busy, blah blah.

my nyzul static is gonna kill me. ;/

Was having trouble, kept saying things about the HDD. Going from the program files POL launcher instead of the shortcut worked 100%.

I got through it by spamming retry and swearing at the computer calling it an illegitimate child of a ZX spectrum on laptop - just not going to log out on desktop till they fix it so I don't need to dl the update :D

Finally worked after I rebooted my computer, PoL needs to go fuck itself.

Yeah, rebooted and opened POL viewer through the ffxi config folder. Worked first try.

this also worked for me, it crashed when I tried to use anything else.

I also had this problem lol. I had a lot of moded .dats and changed UI, so I tried repairing my files through POL (before logging in) and it worked right after, downloaded the update without any problems.
But when I tried to went to start the game itself (without windower) it started flashing black and an error popped saying
"You don’t have Direct 3d"

No idea what that even is (yes it was called that) so I tried loading the game with windower and it worked without a problem lol. go go windower

My windower is all screwed up ; ; It works but its messed Idk why i honestly cant understand it but hey I have this black area on the right side as well as the bottom of the window. Its about 1" thick >.> and anoying.
