It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Question for those of you who watch the show. A few friends and I were having a friendly discussion about the show and what show we could compare it to. I say it reminds me of The Family Guy but shot with live actors. Couple of my friends say that they have absolutely nothing in common.

With the outlandish plots in both series I don't see how that's possible. I think you could take any of the plots from Philly and make it into a Family Guy cartoon. For example the one where the gang all fakes being handicapped to get chicks etc.

One of the best fucking shows on tv.

I love the show, but not like family guy in my opinion. The closest live-action show to FG would probably have been scrubs, what with JD's imagination (:: Peter's "like the time I")

Otherwise, if you mean in terms of "outrageous" as much as a show like that could be, I guess so.

And yes, IASIP is the shit. Great acting, Charlie's my favorite by far, although when DeVito says "whooor" he comes close.

I dream of Sweet Dee getting Larry David to guest star in an episode of its always sunny, or have some of the guys particularly charlie guest star on Curb... might just be me but I think both would be absolutely hilarious

I wouldn't say it's like Family Guy. It reminds me a LOT of Seinfeld, though -- random arguing amongst the four about stupid things, wacky plots that tend to intertwine, even the tertiary characters that are the bane of the main character's existence (Newman and the McPoyle family). It's just a lot more obscene themes on IASIP than on Seinfeld.

I actually live in a suburb of Philly (on the Jersey side), and have been to a few of the places that they've been to on the show. Next season starts in September, and is supposed to feature some Phillies and Flyers players, as well as the two most popular morning radio DJs in the city. My friend turned me on to this show a couple months ago, and I love it. Can't wait for Season 4.

I would have to say that Charlie is my favoite character just because he's so fucked in the head. Not that the rest of the crew aren't, but moreso him.
