The problem with the entire "they're good 360/365" days of the year counter is that yes; we stay with Comcast because it's cable and it's faster and "more" reliable than DSL or Dial-up. However, for $60+ a month, it really should be there 367/365 days a year. They make ridiculous money. And that's just off the internet service they provide. Forget all the other digital services they own.
And often, they -are- the only high-speed option people have, because they buy out all the others around them (Or, in the case of Western/Central Pennsylvania, Adelphia goes into massive bankruptcy and gets shut down when the owning family embezzles and misappropriates ungodly amounts of money and THEN Comcast buys them out).
Your point is well taken, but eh. Even if their customer service acknowledge that the problem might just be on their end and they'll truly look into it instead of giving you the business about resetting your modem 50 times before they even consider the next step...it might make us a tic happier.
Heh. First post here after reading for god knows how long. The downtime must -really- be getting to me. @.@
Edit: Oh holy cow. It's my -second- post. I'll be buggered if I can remember my first.

Comcast, Coloardo, same problem. Gah... made me miss Salvage;;
Compared to the service I had previous to moving... yes, Comcast is horrible. Unfortunately due to the monopoly-esque situation on Cable+Internet providers in Jersey, we're stuck with them until Verizon is ready to go live with their equivocal service.Originally Posted by Pergo
Just a few days ago we had a weird outage for several hours- no internet, and super spotty cable (like 5 minutes, then it would cut out completely, couldn't even watch network TV). This on top of two weeks in the last 3 months where every morning from 9 am until 12:30 pm, the internet would completely cut out, for no reason at all. And about 2 days after we moved here, we had no service at all because whatever brain surgeon set up the cable for our apartment complex daisy chained like 3 building's connections together and effed it up for everyone- we had to wait 2 days for a tech to get here, install 2 little switch things, and then leave. It's pretty damn ridiculous.
If I had the option to swap back to Optimum Online I would in a heartbeat, but Cablevision isn't the local monopoly here- it's Comcast or nothing. So we're stuck here til Verizon is ready to offer their services.
So yeah, fuck Comcast.
Same thing happened with comcast about a year ago. Only thing was then it happened at around 1pm EST so not as much outrage, it took comcast about 3 -4 hours to fix it. In fact in the past 3 years it's several times.
Comcast sucks because all cable companies suck. Cable prices have doubled in the past decade, name one other service that's doubled. It has risen well beyond the rate of inflation and what have we gotten for it? Craptacular service and more infomercials. I am considering ditching the cable tv service and just keeping the broadband. Buy the 3 shows I watch on iTunes and save $1000 a year or more.
They need to fix this shit soon. My salvage group is waiting on me >_<

This better be done in time for my little pony.
I'm glad I'm not the only one XD
Called but the guy couldn't figure out what could be wrong and told me to talk to POL support... that was before I saw this thread.
comcast is the only cable company in our area, we have no other choices, and yes, we have constant problems with them. Our internet is down or slower than dial up as often as it's even working. Can be in the middle of watching tv and lose cable all together for hours at a time.
If we had another choice like suddenlink or anything, we'd give them a try.
Comcast just doesn't have good service, at least not in our area.
working for me, but it seems to be unstableOriginally Posted by chesh
Let's turn this into a: zomg what event are you missing because comcast is teh fail.
CoP static. :/ LS is already bitching that we are taking too long, and tonight was the one night during the week that we could all get online.
Except for me. lawl.
NW Indiana and same problem. Wondering if all these guys work as GM's too they seem to be just as retarded about knowing how to do their jobs.
Can anyone else confirm if thats safe to use? What Ibelin posted.
So.. Comcast users. You guys should be enlightened to the fact that the FBI is currently seeking two suspects for purportedly hacking comcast previously. They say they are on a mission to bring Comcast down. So that is why you could all be getting bullshit answers because Comcast doesn't want to formally recognize it's being assfucked by two hackers right now.
