    Fear mongering at its finest.

Sadly, i don't believe this audacity is limited to Bush, hence my distaste of the Republican party and conservatism in general.

Reaganlolnomics and Nixonblahblahblah. I probably have to dig in my history books to find more shit to toss.

Of course, i like libertarians, i just can't comprehend what they're doing in the same party as neo-cons and idiots, which only further irritates me when i think of the Republican party. Yes, it may very well be because they can't get votes as a third party choice, but associating yourself with the people i just mentioned seems insufferable to me.
Are you suggesting that they align themselves with the Democratic party? Their platform is about as diametrically opposed to the libertarian's as the Republican platform is. Like others have said, if a libertarian legitimately wants the chance at getting elected he's gotta pick one of the two. It's debatable as to which is the better of the two options with regard to libertarian issues, but it can't be both and it can't be neither.

edit: My first question is legitimate, not a poke at you. If you'd rather the libertarians say "fuck you" to both Democrats and Republicans and ignore how it effects their chances at getting elected I can understand that.

You know, I condemn this too, but let me play the devil's advocate For fun goddamnit.

Wouldn't it be nice to have bases immediately around the countries that harbor our enemies, denounce our ways, and would be more than happy to see America fall?

One could make the argument that we wouldn't have those enemies, or at least they wouldn't be so plentiful, if we weren't invading their neighbors. And honestly, do you think every person who worships Islam denounces our way of life? I have a few Islamic friends and it seems like a very peaceful religion to me. We don't associate the KKK with Christianity, why do we associate islamic extremists with Islam?

And finally, they want to see Isreal fall, not America.

cephius does have a point... what we're doing is basically confirming whatever propaganda the terrorists might have so we will definitely make more enemies being down there... i mean its the whole jihad thing... more we attack them the more we justify their attacks on us... now i dont mean to sound like im on their side or anything but its the truth

also an argument you can put up is: "If we dont do anything there may be another 9/11 or similar attacks" and i agree with that... but... uhh... the taliban arent in Iraq iirc =/

This is because we fancy ourselves good upright Christians in this here country, and we can't have any sinful faggotry going on, no sir. Thus, we end up voting for the guy who hits the campaign trail thumping his bible and promising to uphold the moral majority's idea of how a Christian nation should be.

It should be ill-goddamned-legal to campaign based on your fucking religious ideals. They have no place in government, period.

Harbouring enemies isn't good, but are you sanctioning imperialism on the grounds that they just said your way wasn't the best?

    How is it NOT imperialism?

I suppose if you accept that the United States is never wrong and anyone who we shoot is our collective "enemy" than this line of thinking works. There's a flipside to this and that's how we're percieved in other countries.

If anyone has heard of Noam Chomsky or Robert Perle, their debate in 1988 @Ohio State University is a real eye-opener. It's essentially neoconservatism vs what many would say (I don't) radical left. American imperialism/Globalization are the main topics on the agenda and since what we're doing in Iraq isn't anything new, the debate is still very relevant.

Yeah, the whole "separation of church and state" thing always has me scratching my head when I see God's will somehow coming up in politics. It's one thing to steer yourself on faith, but another when you take a whole nation with you.

Anyhoo, back to being my agnostic self that refuses to accept any kind of god that tests his people by having them kill one another, too often in cold and brutal ways, while the survivors try to pick up the pieces.

Or it could also be because you don't know a lick about politics. For example, remember when you called Beckwin a neoliberal? Yea...

Right or Wrong the reason contractor's don't go to trail there is because it would be almost impossible to get a fair trial . Now you could also say the same thing about them going on trial here.

Just depends on how he defines "new". He sure as hell isn't a paleo-liberal though.
