S.T.A.L.K.E.R. aside from the fantasy radioactive qualities is actually very very close to the real areas surrounding the reactor, and even the the reactor and lava itself is accurate. It's a really fun game, they did a great job with the realism in that regard.
Having put a few more days into it and advanced the story a lot more I'm having quite a bit of fun. I've met up with the Forrester and am about to enter the endgame by going to Limansk, but man is the Red Forrest ever fucking freaky. I was running through there to get to the Forrester again for a mission late at night and the constant scuffling and howling by the mutants was freaking me the hell out.

Now that I actually have a decent weapon for shooting over long distances, using a fully-upgraded and scoped SIG SG 550 (I don't remember what the fake game name is), combat is quite a bit easier. I'm finding it pretty easy to get up to an encampment of 4 or 5 guys and take them out with headshots while only taking minor damage.

Oh, good. I was worried, he seemed overly lame compared to somewhat serious tone the game had taken so far. The funeral scene after the first attack was surprisingly moving, I was expecting Legaia to be all cartoony characters and generic fantasy fluff.

I don't remember a SIG 550 in there! I should go back and find one.

I use that silenced soviet sniper rifle as my main gun and something (can't remember atm) using .45ACP. I'm currently working to get myself a nice suit so I can go deeper into a few areas, Yantar in particular, to get myself some nice artifacts.

When you get to Yantar, be sure to take with the sciencists and grab yourself the high end artifact detector, it's only about $55 (1,500RU).

I think the SIG 550 is the default weapon you get when you join Freedom (which I did). It's hard for me to tell exactly what weapon it's based on, but I do recall something about "Swiss-made", even though the bolt handle appears to be on the wrong side of the upper receiver.

Anyway, it's got great durability and rarely jams, unlike the bullpup SA80 clone which sucks a fat nut, but coming across NATO 5.56x23mm ammo isn't always easy if you join Freedom. Duty and Bandits all use AK weapons which use the 5.45x39 round, so I have to rely heavily on ammo caches in outposts. (I looted like 1k each of normal and AP 5.56 rounds from one, that weighed a lot hah)

Yeah, I was using a m4 variant with the 5.45x45 and it was impossible to find ammo. The gun jammed a lot at the wrong times and wasn't accurate either :/ The only guns that seem to be are the sniper rifles.

Well the nice thing is that you can mod almost all the assault rifles to chamber a different type of ammo. I think on my next play through of Clear Sky I'll probably try re-chambering any heavily upgraded AR to use the 5.45x39 Soviet round. That way I can just pick up ammo from anyone except for Freedom guys (who all use NATO rifles it seems) and not have to carry around like 10 kilos of ammo.

I'm also super-pissed that I've gotten pretty close to the end, but during this shootout in some sunken hospital run or something the game keeps crashing and won't go for more than about 1 minute from my last save. And my previous save is over an hour before that, fuck >_<

    Eternal Sonata (PS3), Disgaea 3, Megaman 9.

Soon to add Little Big Planet to the list.

Yeah, ever since GTA3 breaking game saves, I've learned to do a staggering save pattern of about eight files every 15-30 minutes at the max.

But, playing Far Cry 2, it's awesome.

    FIFA09
Manager Mode is pretty fun though frustrating. Reminds me of PES Master Mode where you play whilst also controlling transfers and such. Currently trying to take a league 2 team to the Premiership.
You really feel the difference in team quality when your dinky League 2 team goes up against a Top Premiership team in the FA Cup, game difficulty really ramps up.

    Yakuza 2
Picked it up yesterday, great fun and the story feels pretty good. Only a few hours in but the flashback/recap of the first game was pretty epic. Looking forward to playing more of it.
Wish there were less loading pauses, damn lolPS2 limitations.

Fallout next week, considering going back to WoW, and thinking about WAR. Need mo' money and mo' hours in the day...

No, just excited for it. I get it from work at a discount (like $40) but I can't buy it until everyone else

So I'm totally going to beg off work at 4:00 so I can get to my local EB before closing time to get my copy of Fallout 3. There better not be any bullcrap about Canadian stores getting it a day or two late, or PC versions suffering the same fate. At least with a pre-order I should be good to enjoy some sweet nuclear wasteland tonight.

(I also have a feeling today is going to be a long work day)

Really getting into Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I'm toying with the idea of starting over on hard; the problem is that normal is too easy and hard is too difficult, especially with the cheap unavoidable 8-enemy back-attack death-spammage. Plus I've put around 25 hours into the game so far and I'm not sure I want to start over now. And yet then again, I'm cruising through a game that is supposed to be one of the more difficult RPGs out there and nothing can fucking touch me. Makatora + Mana Refill on a demon, Tornado + Force Boost on the hero (not to mention Focus + anything physical), this is supposed to be hard?

I think Fallout 3 has abducted me. Not seen anyhting but this game since I picked it up and I've still not seen 1/2 the map.

Still need to go finish Manager mode on FIFA, need to start Red Alert 3, need to play (or cancel subscription to) WoW and FFXI, and I still need to pick up Fable II.

Not to mention Mirror's Edge and Left 4 Dead over the next few weeks.

I've been playing the shit out of Fallout. Since I picked it up Fable 2 has fallen by the wayside for now. Still playing Rock Band sporadically. And I've been watching all the cutscenes in the movie viewer for Yakuza 2. Glad you picked it up Winter, I told you it would not disappoint you. And the overall recap for Yakuza 1 was fairly indepth. The problem is now you're going to want to play it through by the time it's all said and done.

I'm going to be picking up Left 4 Dead when it's released and I might snag Dead Space. I haven't decided on that one yet, and there's always Farcry 2 as well. Too many games.

Bioshock (I know, holy shit am I late on this one), Valkyria Chronicles, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, and Eternal Sonata. Considering Dead Space or Left 4 Dead as well, since I'll probably blow through most of this stuff inside a month with some luck. Although Animal Crossing: City Folk is out next week, so I may forgo L4D or Dead Space.

I can't stop playing the demo with friends, if it is 0.001% as good as the levels in the demo, this game will be HAWT
