Finished Mirror's Edge recently. What a waste. Payed £6 for it though, get what you pay for I guess.
I really should finish my Dead Space platinum, but Insane difficulty tests my patience, and I'm not a fan of paying for DLC gear that's insanely better than the existing stuff just to make my life a lot easier.
As for me, picked up RE5 new for $14 the other day. Was waiting on the Gold Edition's price to drop, but seeing the original at $14 was impulse buy, and would be cheaper than Gold Edition anyhow even if I bought all the DLC. Currently on chapter 2-2, stopped at one loading screen where the game decided to freeze my system for no reason. Really getting fed up of games doing that these days on my PS3. I almost always have zero problems with PS3 exclusives, but every other third-party title I buy locks up at least 2-4 times (triple that for Ubisoft games) during a single playthrough.
Working on my first platinum for PS3 via Bad Company 2. I'm probably going to continue my Pokemon Fire Red file as my girlfriends little brother has been whoring out Soul Silver recently. Peaked my nostalgia meter.
On a side note: is Soul Silver/Heart Gold worth getting for a gamer who never really picked any Pokemon up after red/blue? I keep hearing him talk about shiny variety pokemon and breeding.
How is BC2's platinum compared to the first?
The first one was alright until the developers decided to make you go 10,002 kills in online ranked matches, as well as doing every single one of the online awards, and it gave you a stinking bronze for that given it's the hardest/most time consuming of them all.
I just called it quits after earning all the single-player trophies, as well as a couple of the online ones when I dicked around on it for a few hours before getting bored of it.
(boredom mainly due to the game's pacing, and zero teamwork since no one bothers with mics)
As for me, bored of my PS3 atm (even though I got about 10 games on the go for it), so I'm currently installing all of the Commandos games which I picked up retail the other day, since I took too long to decide between either the retail for $19 which has all the games, or the Steam sale last week of the first 3 in the series for $5.
Played a bit of the first one, and forgot how much trial & error the series was, but it's a lot easier to deal with on my current PC with near instant load/saving. Granted, I'm surprised at how gracefully it has aged. It's pixellated for sure, more-so when you zoom in, but it doesn't make me gag or anything like a 3D game from the same time period would.
I'm not sure if I'm going to play them in order of release, or just hop back/forth. Would be easier to appreciate the changes and improvements if I go chronologically.......especially since Commandos 2 nixed the useless Driver class in favour of the much more useful Seductress, not to mention not hearing the same three sound clips from your units every bloody time you click them and order them about.
Granted, one of the things I do like about this retail pack (published by City Interactive, never heard of them ;/ ) is zero DRM. Just install it to your hard drive, remove disc, and start playing hassle-free. Definitely putting it on my laptop later.
[EDIT] Just gave a couple missions in Commandos 2 a whirl, and man, the gameplay has really held up well in this game (much more-so than the first since the devs fixed all the flaws from it). Still nothing on the market that I know of that plays like this.
Sounds like it might be a problem with your PS3. I think I've only had one freeze-up and that was with Tales of Vesperia.
Anyways, I played Fragile Dreams for like 7 hours or so. It's alright, but I started getting bored so I'm taking a break from it now and started playing Tales of Phantasia (DeJap version) for the first time. Other than that, I play Soul Silver when I feel like it.
I bought and beat the Lost in Nightmares DLC for RE5. It was good in my opinion. The thing I really liked about it was the atmosphere. It gave me the same feeling the old RE's would, and let's know that they can still do that type of thing, which makes me happy. It also gets me excited about RE6.
Playing FF4/6/7/8, Doom1/2, and various SNES roms. My comp sucks baaad. Anyone got any good free old PC game ideas? Got a 1Ghz processor, 512 RAM, and a crap graphics card.
Let's see, after Dawn of Discovery I decided to give Zack & Wiki a try, which everyone calls a point and click adventure game but it definitely doesn't have the same allure as Monkey Island et al, simply because if it gives you points and if you fuck up, you don't get as many. I dunno, I'll get back to it when I have the patience.
Next was The Munchables because I saw a good review, and it was actually a lot of fun. A short game, maybe 4-5 hours, but a definite Katamari-type feel. You eat vegetable monsters to get bigger, and at the end of the stage you poop our crystal orbs to see how you did. There's a 2nd character and some collectibles but I don't think I'll bother.
Next up was a replay of LifeLine for ps2, which was that "horrible" voice controlled survival horror game. You can actually do a couple tricks to make the combat a bit easier, and if you speak slowly/clearly it's pretty accurate (she only wasted 1 health capsule the whole time, and I only died twice). Worth a replay (~13 hours), I'd really love to see the game remade with current voice recognition technology but I doubt that'll ever happen.
Then spent 4 hours getting Monster Hunter Tri to work (thanks Towowo!) but I didn't feel like getting into it just yet, so I decided to try Red Steel 2, which I can't play for longer than 20-30 mins at a time because it gives me reaaally bad motion sickness. Oh well.
Now playing Muramasa, and HOLY FUCK why didn't I play this game sooner. My biggest problem with Odin Sphere was the clunky inventory system and the way that the action in the game gets kinda bogged down by it, in eschewing all that Muramasa really becomes a much harder game to put down. Music/graphics are phenomenal too.
Also been playing some Endless Ocean, which is about as relaxing as people say. I might try to finish it at some point soon, but it's so relaxing I don't feel any rush to lol. I seriously play way too many 3rd party wii games >_>
I ordered Kuon from Amazon Marketplace so either that or Fatal Frame 3 will be next. I'm feeling a survival horror kick coming on so maybe I'll parlay that into finally finishing Deadly Premonition, but chances are I'll just waste it on some more 3rd party wii shit like Obscure 2/The Calling, lol
Just recently traded in a ton of old games for 'new ones'. I grabbed....
Shadow of the Colossus (Totally obsessed, can't put it down. xD)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (Finally going to play through these ;
Xenosaga II (Need to find I first. '-')
Sonic Heroes (Idk, random possibly fun mutiplayer.)
Fucking Picross DS.
Ugh, I need to make time for all 3 parts of Xenosaga, and now I want to go mess around on Colossus lol. Every time my friend does fan art of Wander too.
Ever since I got my hands on FMCB and learned how to play games on my PS2 from a network share on my laptop, I've had RPG-ADD. Sorry I never got back to you on Soul Nomad, Yuri, that was one of the reasons lol. Randomly jumping between FFXII, Zone of the Enders 2, Beyond Good & Evil, Valkyrie Profile 2 and Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume on DS. :<
Domon, if you see this, do you have a favorite Tales of on PS2? Anyone else for that matter? Last I played was PS1.
Highly suggest playing Tales of Vesperia though. Definitely one of the better RPGs on the Xbox 360 and of the Tales series. (Seeing as how a PS3 localization of the Vesperia Re-vamp is looking grim.)
Thanks, I hadn't realized. Always thought there were tons of those games spread throughout for some reason.
I've been keeping an eye on it, waiting to catch a good deal on it. I played the demo and wasn't super thrilled with it, but I think I just need to get back in the swing of Tales games lol.
Find a friend who is willing to play local multi-player with you. Tales games fun factor skyrockets with other players.
For the PS2, there's also Tales of Legendia(lol.)
If you haven't played Tales of the Abyss, I recommend it. It was my favorite 'Tales of' till Tales of Graces came out.
You need to beat Beyond Good & Evil before I KEEL YOU.
also I need to get my PS2 modded or something, getting tired of hunting down rare ps2 survival horror games
also I realized that since October, I've either beaten/mostly beaten (or played enough to know I won't ever beat them) well over 30 third-party wii games, lol. On top of all the other stuff I've gone through in the past year I feel like a gaming machine
edit: list as follows, for fun:

edit edit: still to play

You're like the only guy I know on this forum that gives two shits about Wii titles outside of Nintendo and Capcom's own releases.
I'm on a mission to play all the gems hidden amongst the piles of shovelware :D
