And to be fair, I guess I didn't try MGS long enough to really grasp it. I'll eventually try it out again, but will start with a much later one rather than the older ones. But it'll be a bit before I do that.

That would be like watching the end of a movie to judge if you like it or not. Metal Gear Solid is one huge story. You'd ruin everything plus not understand 90% of the plot if you didn't play like its meant to.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but if I have to I will. That's if I ever get into it. I wasn't gonna play through the whole thing though, only just a little bit to get the feel of the gameplay, then go back for the story.

You could do it chronologically, lots consider 3 the best one, and that is the first. I'd say give Portable Ops a miss though, I thought it was rather shitty honestly. Peace Walker is fantastic though.

Portable Ops is fine. Only problem was that recruiting soldiers was a bitch as you had to drag them all the way to your truck. Well, that and lack of voice acting kinda numbs the experience outside of those slick sketchy comicy cutscenes.

Speaking of soldier recruitment, is it any better in Peace Walker, or is it the same boring dragging business?


On another subject, 3 hours blew by today as I was giving my new G27 wheel a workout while playing GRID on my PC. Game is fanfuckingtastic with it, I don't think I could ever go back to analog-stick racing again, the experiences is so much better with a cockpit view where the wheel turning matches your RL wheel 1:1, with force feedback giving you all the feedback you need to know with regards to if you're on the ground or drifting hard.

Can't bloody wait for Gran Turismo 5 now.

Can't wait for E3 then to verify whether or not there's a new PSP or model revision coming out. If no new one, then off to Best Buy I go to grab me a Peace Walker bundle and get me some MGS loving. I still need to beat Portable Ops, and I've yet to actually play Portable Ops Plus (found it for $10 one day and bought it, but this was long after my old PSP-1000 died)


Just a shame there's no Big Boss pack for Canada afaik, but I honestly enjoy the green PSP more even though the majority of you think it's horrid looking. I just liked the extras that came in the Boss bundle. ;/

Speaking of Rune Factory Frontier, last I remember, I very badly needed some little crystals |:

have fun farming those, took me a while to get the ones I needed.

Easiest way is as follows:
1) the place you farmed silver in Green Ruins, the 4 rocks behind the tan boulder/door west of the entrance. You can smash those, I've gotten a little crystal from the other 2 sets of boulders to the northeast of that as well.

2) B6F of Lava Ruins, in the set of 3 rocks by the boss door that contain gold

3) Behind any of the Rune Stone doors on Whale Island, in one of the chest.

It's probably easiest to get a bunch of Rune Stones (assuming you have runeys) and open 6-8 chests, and reset if you don't get a little crystal. Also Smash Blade should be your first priority, it's awesome.

I'm done with Rune Factory Frontier finally after 175ish hours, I don't really care enough to play any more and get the last few items so I'll just play the DS versions if I feel like I want more Rune Factory goodness (which is likely). Now playing 3d Dot Games Heroes, Kingdom For Keflings, and Sin & Punishment 2. Will probably move on to Saboteur after 3d Dot Games, and Trauma Team after S&P2. I got Divinity 2 for like 16 bucks and Adventures to Go for 10 lately, and I have DS roms piling up, so I'm starting to want to play handheld games again.

Just grabbed Joe Danger off PSN, and holy shit, it's like as if Excite Bike and Trials had a baby.

Super smooth framerate and stunt gloryness with complete air control. I'm going to make myself some devilish obstacle courses when I finish off the singleplayer mode.

I dunno if I'd call Peace Walker fantastic.
I'm not too far into it yet but it just doesn't have the draw the other ones had. I would be hooked and playing for hours on end, with Peace Walker... I clear 2-3 missions then put it down due to boredom.

The first 2 boss fights are very boring by MGS standards too.


That's even considering the normally boring sniper fights.
